Kai lost both of his parents when he was 5, due to a terrible accident. The house caught on fire. So you can imagine a frightened little boy suddenly being sent to a strange building with strange people.

He never spoke when he arrived he just sat in a corner alone, staring off into the distance. He never cried, the other children would, but Kai could never cry “Men should not cry, they have to be strong.” the words his father used to tell him when he was about to cry.

The other children thought Kai was weird and didn’t want to be friends with him, except this one boy. Smaller than the other, with huge eyes, just like those you find on an Owl. He smiled at Kai, only smiled, didn’t say anything.

Kai found something in that smile that made him feel warm and loved, it was just a simple smile but for Kai it was the most amazing thing in the world. The two soon became friends, and Kai started to smile and feel like  he belonged somewhere,

“Lets stay best friends forever OK! pinky promise?”

But soon after they made that promise Kai’s best friend suddenly disappeared, where could he of gone? he asked over and over again. He eventually found out, after accidently listening into the conversation the adults were having.

“To think someone would get fostered this early on.”

“He was a bright kid that one though, lets hope his new family treat him right !”

Kai ran, and ran, until he couldn’t run anymore, lost outside in the big wide world. He lied on the ground and as a tear rolled down his cheek he spoke a finally goodbye “Kyungsoo we will meet again right, we promised. we promised. I love you…

Kai was starting high school today, he couldn’t believe that he actually passed the exam. He rushed to get ready as he had to meet his best friend Sehun beforehand, so they could walk together.

Kai met Sehun during middle school, and they became quite close quite quickly, although Sehun was one of your typical bad boys, so Kai, not knowing right from wrong, soon became the ‘bad boy’ type and most commonly a magnet for the ladies.

When they reached school, Kai suddenly stopped outside the gate,

“I don’t know Sehun if it’s a good idea? you know, us attending high school?”

“Come on, don’t be daft, it will be fun, me, you, messing about, what’s not to like?”

“I suppose you’re right, but this is the most popular high school right?” Kai let out a big sigh, he didn’t want to be here, he didn’t want to be seen as who he is now, and it meant having to face his cousin.

“What’s wrong, not getting scared are we?”

“What! no of course not, it’s nothing, let’s go!”

The headed into the direction of the hall as to where their opening ceromany was being held, but a sudden shout from one of the students, stop them in their tracks.

“JONGINNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” some boy came running up to them and threw himself at Kai and then kissed him right on the lips, “It’s good to see you, did you miss me?” the boy beemed.

Sehun looked astonished at what just happened, is it normal for some kid to kiss someone like that?

“Taemin? you attend this school?”

“Yes! I had no idea you would though, well you haven't answered my question yet, did you miss me?”

“Of course I missed you, silly, it’s been what? 2 years?”

“No 3 years actually, i’ve been counting !!”

“Aye you’re still so childish, who in their right mind would keep track of how long they’ve been apart from someone?”

“It’s because you’re my friend and I love you!”

Kai wasn’t expecting  to hear those words, and couldn’t find any words to say after, thankfully Sehun decided to in.

“Hate to break this little ‘get together’ apart, but Kai we’re gonna be late!” Sehun said staring in a not so friendly manner to Taemin.

“Oh so you're right” Kai said checking his watch “Well, we’ll talk later, good to see you again!” he said to Taemin.

“Oh man no fair~ Okies, oh about the student president, don’t be getting on his bad side now, don’t want you getting murdered.”

“Aha, yeah like that’ll happen, i’m sweet as a little cherry cupcake”

“My little cherry cupcake though, BYEEEE” Taemin waved frantically at Kai as he walked away, and then skipped into the school.

“Kai? care to explain? you know him? and why’d he kiss you?” Sehun blushed a little, feeling jealous, because Kai was his.

“Him? Oh his name is Taemin, we met at one of my orphanages I went too, we used to dance together, and the whole kiss thing, we’re not dating its just, its his way of greeting the people he his close too!”

“A weird way though” Sehun muttered under his breath as they walked into the hall and took a seat.

Kai wouldn't normally pay attention to some crappy ceremony, but he was curious about the student president, after hearing what Taemin said about him.

"Let's welcome the student president" Kai watched as a small boy walked up to the front of the stage, and without thinking he immediately stood up. Not because of politeness, that would be ridiculous, no, he stood up because the boy that stood at the front, was the same boy that was his first ever friend, the same boy he has been trying to find.

"Hi everyone, I'm Do Kyungsoo your student president"

Sehun looked up in confusion as to why Kai suddenly stood up, and whispered to him to sit back down, as all attention was on them, and it's embarrassing.

"You over there, is there a reason for you to be standing up?" The student president spoke to Kai

Kai blushed "Oh nothing really, I just needed to stretch my legs" and he sat back down, and turned to Sehun and whispered "I don't even know why I stood up myself!"

The student president continued to say all the important rules and information the first years would need to know, and when he finished the ceremony was over. "Come on Kai, lets get out of here!" Sehun said in a hurry, he really didn't want to be in that room much longer. As the two were heading out someone called out to them.

"You two! stop a moment" Kai and Sehun turned and saw the student president walk up to them. "May I have your names please?"

"Why do you want our names?" Sehun asked a little pissed

"Well it's more his name, he stood up and wondered if I may know him" Kyungsoo pointed to Kai, and Kai swallowed .

"His names Ki..." Sehun got cut of by Kai's hand covering his mouth.

"Aha, I'm Kai, and I must go now bye bye" and he dragged Sehun out the hall, not once stopping to look back. He didn't want Kyungsoo to know who he was, because he's not the same Kim Jongin as he was back then.

Kyungsoo stood staring at where Kai and Sehun had just been and muttered to himself "Kai huh? Why did I feel a sense of nostalgia when I saw you stand up, who are you?"
