Smoke & Water.
Nine Witches
“You see that cute guy?”
“The one that stared at Seo throughout all of lunch?”
“Yeah....what’s his name?”
“I think it’s Seungho.”
“Ah! isn’t he the top of the class?”
“Yeah... Is Seo second?”
“Yeah. They’d make a cute couple.”
The two girls were hanging out in the girls’ bathroom gossiping and fixing their make up.
Sooyoung looked at herself in the mirror. Normally she and Hyoyeon would be on their way home since they both had an off period. However they’d promised Seohyun that they would stay after school too hang out with the others. She and Hyoyeon could tell that she missed the older four girls a lot and had agreed to stay.
She turned around to admire her hair,
“Neh, Hyo you think will actually make it into that girl’s school?”
Hyoyeon sighed heavily, she had been thinking about that also.
“Doubt it.” She replied while carefully applying mascara to her eyelashes.
Sooyoung nodded.
“Let’s not tell the others- especially Seo, that. We should at least try.”
“Yeah.”
Sooyoung washed her hands of eyeshadow, she moved towards the paper towels.
“Ah! there is no more!” She complained and then went over to the hand dryer.
“I hate these...they sound like motor boats.”
“What?!” Hyoyeon shouted.
“I Can’t hear you! The hand dryer is too loud!”
“Never mind!” Sooyoung shouted back.
Hyoyeon went to look at herself in the mirror again, to make sure everything was perfect.
Seconds into admiring her handy work she heard a loud bang, like something exploding.

“I think it’s Seungho.”
“Ah! isn’t he the top of the class?”

“Yeah. They’d make a cute couple.”

“What?!” Hyoyeon shouted.

“Ahh!”
She turned around to see Sooyoung on the floor in pain, the hand dryer was completely gone.
“Sooyoung!” she ran over to her best friend.
“Are you okay?!”
“Yeah....ow..ow..nevermind...no i’m not okay.”
Hyoyeon looked at Sooyoung’s hands which were red and a bit blistery, as if she had grasped for a pot that was way to hot and burned her finger tips.
“What happened?” she asked.
“I don’t know!! One second I was drying my hands the next the dryer explodes!”
“Here.” Hyoyeon grabbed her by the wrists and brought her over to the sink, running cold water over Sooyoung’s hands.
She took some band aids out,
“Where did you get those?”
“I keep them in my wallet for things like blisters.”
She carefully wrapped each finger in a band aid.
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Hey, Hyo you smell that?”
“Yeah... smells like...”
“SMOKE.”
They both turned to see the hand dryer, or what was left on fire.
“Why aren’t the fire sprinklers going off?” she shouted.
The bathroom was quickly filling with smoke, Sooyoung coughed violently. She moved towards the door and baring through the pain of her burns tried to open the door.
Hyoyeon’s eyes were burning and she could hardly see anything she rushed over to Sooyoung,
“The door won’t open!” Sooyoung shouted.
“What?”
Hyoyeon grabbed the door, it wouldn’t budge.
She started shaking the door handle ‘come on!’ she thought, ‘Please open! Or have the sprinklers start working! Rain indoors! Just do something!!’
Sooyoung felt a drop of water hit er face, she looked up. The sprinklers looked at her, unresponsive. She glared back. Then another drop hit her face, and another and another, soon,
Hyoyeon stopped she looked up along with Sooyoung.
“It’s raining!”
“Yeah.” sooyoung replied.
“But we’re inside.”
“Yeah...”
Seohyun ran down the stairs frantically, the two men behind her kept their pace.
As she reached the bottom floor she could smell smoke, she looked around. It was coming from the girl’s restroom. There we’re screams also.
Her eyes got big.
“Hyoyeon, Sooyoung.”
She rushed to the doors and tried unsuccessfully to open them.
After her second attempt the shorter man moved in front of her,
“Hey!” she muttered.
With one kick he broke down the door, smoke and water poured out onto the floor.
Sooyoung and Hyoyeonw ere on the floor gasping for air.
“Are you two okay?” Seohyu aksed, going over them and helping them up.
“Just a bit smoked out” Sooyoung replied.
“And water logged.”
“But unnie neither of you are wet at all!” Seohyun replied.
“Eh? What do you mean?” Sooyoung looked at her.
“She’s right!” Hyoyeon said, touching Sooyoung’s jacket and her shirt,
“Were both dry!”
“How are we not drenched?” Sooyoung asked.
“I don’t know.” Hyoyeon replied, equally confused as she.
The two looked up to see two strange men wearing expensivebut slightly wet suits.
“Who are your friends?” Hyoyeon whispered to Seohyun.
“It’s a long story...”
The taller blond started talking,
“I think... the two of you should come with us.”
“Eh? Why?” Hyoyeon asked. “We’ll explain soon.” He replied briskly.
They both looked at Seohyun,
“You can trust them.”
