A Frantic Matter
Vampire Sanctuary: Genesis (SEMI-HIATUS)Sunday afternoon has always been my favorite time to take a walk and to explore around the blocks. I was free from Bernice's constant yapping and the heavy workload in the office. Most importantly, a way to clear my mind and possibly have a good night's sleep, and for once escape from the evil insomnia. It didn't work by the way, but hey, one could wish.
There weren't many pedestrians near my neighborhood, but I often saw stray cats strolled along the fences. Pity I never had the luxury to own one. Money has been always tight and even buying grocery was a problem.
Walking past the pizza shop, I turned at the corner and hit Bath Avenue. The sun lightly sprayed its warm rays on me as I tugged the jacket collar higher up to my chin. The weather was rather temperate compared to last week. Clouds barely visible in the light blue background and the cold breeze skidded gently against my skin.
After more than two hours of walking in circles, I suddenly felt hot, in a literal sense. I would have ignored it if the heated sensation had not been steadily rising. To the point where it was burning and etching, and my blood felt like it was boiling, near the stage of vaporization. I may have exaggerated it, but this was undeniably worse than a fever. The veins in my neck twitched while my muscles quivered along with my unfocused shifting eyes. I needed to leave. Go back home. Anywhere but here. Light came in contact with the current area where I stood. It was awful. Foreign. ing bizarre. Nothing came up on my mind except the instinct to run.
And so I did.
I bolted back to the safety of my home. It wasn't until I tumbled onto the floor as soon as I crashed into the house did I realized how depleted I was. Al
