After Hyukjae saw Gyuri off, he checked his phone. There were 2 missed calls - one was from Donghae and one from his mother and 5 texts – 4 from Donghae and 1 from Jessica.

From “Your Love Lee Donghae”:

Hyukkah! We are going for a late night outing. Come join us~

From “Sica sica Jessica”

Hi oppa. We are all going to the movies again tonight. 9pm at Rodeo and noraebang after! I feel bad for forgetting to invite you last time, so consider yourself a VIP invitee. I will even buy you a mocktail *o*

From “Your Love Lee Donghae”:

Yah! Is your date over yet?

Stop ignoring me!!!!! Bogoshipda!

LEE HYUK JAE! Is this how it’s going to be from now on? Ditching me for your girlfriend? Are you going to take responsibility for the break-up of HyukHae? Are you? ARE YOU?

Hyukjae shook his head at Donghae’s neediness.

The last message read:

“Mian! I was just bored because Sica and the girls went to the washroom together and the boys aren’t here yet. But this is too much! You can at least reply to my texts. I’m calling umma right now!”

‘Ah that tattletale! No wonder umma was trying to call me!’ Hyukjae thought with a snort but even so, he found his feet already hurrying towards the subway station. It was just 10:00 pm so by the time he gets there the movie would be finished and he can hang out with his friends at the noraebang.

He was excited to tell Donghae about what had just happened with Gyuri and Hyoyeon would be there too! He hadn’t seen her all week even though they talked on the phone every night. Those thoughts alone made him hurry his feet.

A half hour later, he arrived at Everysing Noraebang and following Jessica’s detailed directions weaved his way to the basement where his friends had rented out the party room.

There was the unmistakeable sound of Heechul screaming his lungs out to a classic rock song breaking through the pretty sound proof room. The power of Heenim! And he spotted Yuri and Yunho off to the side, in a shadowy corner sharing coy looks and what looked like a couple drink with two straws sticking out. Hyukjae smirked planning to ambush the sneaky pair but stopped himself at the last minute –the Love Gods had been kind to him tonight so he should share the good karma, right?

He took a left turn instead and entered the room.

“Hyukkah! You’re here!” Donghae clapped him on the back excitedly while the entire room chorused their greetings.
“Lee Donghae, it’s time for our duet!” Sica called for him as the opening chords of \Way back into Love/ started to play (A/N: pretend it's an old song)and Donghae, with the obedience of a besotted puppy, immediately left Hyukjae’s side.

‘Who’s the traitor now?’ Hyukjae laughed outloud and then shifted his gaze around the room looking for her.

Tiny frown lines creased his brow. Usually Hyoyeon would be right in the center of the room doing a crazy dance with Shindong and Sooyoung or shaking a tambourine with gusto. But it was a no on both counts. He squinted around the darkened room at the various groups. She was not with the bunch browing through the songbooks, nor was she with Taeyeon and MiYoung handling the song selection machine. In the corner were most of the boys and the remaining few were dancing and singing along.

‘Well, there’s always the washroom. The litres of water the girl drank on a daily basis! It was a mystery she hadn’t drowned herself.. but that was probably also why her skin was always so smooth and so soft.. like baby skin. She didn’t even need any make up – her skin was simply radiant.. wait what? What the heck am I thinking?’

He shook himself out of the crazy thoughts and reached a hand out to tap SooYoung’s shoulder.

“Hey oppa, what’s up?” she spoke, not surprisingly, with full of fruit.

“Not much. Just wondering – do you know where Hyo is?”

“Hyoyeonie? She’s not here oppa.”

“What do you mean?”

“She didn’t come with us! Sica said she wasn’t feeling well.”

“Oh! Okay thanks.”

‘Not feeling well?’He quickly exited the room while simultaneously pressing her number in his speed dial. He hung up on the second ring… maybe it’s better not to call since she might be sleeping already. But as he thought about it, Hyoyeon had been sounding tired for the past few days. He had chalked it to the fact that they were talking at 2 am after his practise but what if the careless kid has really gotten herself sick?

Hyukjae paced around mindlessly for a few minutes, until the door opened and Donghae joined him.

“Yo man! The party’s inside.”

“I was just checking my phone but now that I’ve got you outside…. you will never believe what happened tonight Hae!”

“You found 20 bucks on the street?”

Hyukjae shook his head.

“You……saw Song Hye Kyo noonim and got me her autograph?”

“No.”

“You….. saw a talking dog?”

Hyukjae sighed impatiently, “are you going to keep guessing all night or can I just tell you?”

“Fine spoilsport, just tell me.”

“Gyuri and I kissed!”

“MWOH!”

“Yeah,” Hyukjae was now grinning with his gums on full display, “to be more specific, she kissed me!”

“I’m happy for you man!” Donghae patted Hyukjae’s back heartily.

“You know what? I am happy for me too!” Hyukjae beamed.

“So.. how was it? Did you see stars and fireworks? Did you feel the earth move underneath your feet? Did you feel dizzy?”

He gave the younger-by-6-months boy a bewildered look, “Like literally?”

Donghae nodded with sincere twinkling eyes, “Yeah! It’s like your entire body is tingling and when you close your eyes, you can see all these beautiful bursts of light and you feel like you’re so connected to the other person, you can see into your soul.”

“Wow uh no Nemo, not all of us live in Walt Disney movieland like you!”

Donghae’s eyes bugged out, “What? You mean you didn’t feel anything?”

“Not, nothing! It was um.. nice and.. soft. She kissed me so I was surprised, remember?”

“Well then did you at least pull her back in for another kiss?”

“What do you think I am? Some kind of manhwa hero?”

A strange look was passing through Donghae’s eyes but he held his tongue this time. “I’m happy for you man!” and the two went back inside.
