    I’m breaking up with you, the words coming out from her ex-boyfriend’s mouth rang through Seungyun’s ears. Her boyfriend for 2 years had just broken up with her today, let alone made out with another girl in the restaurant they were supposed to meet at in front of her face. Then, as her boyfriend saw her figure, he didn’t care one bit and progressed on kissing the lady lusciously. Tears brimmed down Seungyun’s cheeks seeing the boyfriend whom promised to be loyal to her two years ago making out with another girl in front of her. And with that, she walked out the restaurant but a strong grip suddenly grabs her arm, only to see her boyfriend. She took her time and slapped him harshly on his face while her boyfriend smirked and said, “I’m breaking up with you,” then ran back inside the restaurant. Of course, Seungyun was heartbroken – very heartbroken. And thus, she found herself walking down the street back home with a numb visage. 

    “How dare he kiss that girl? She doesn’t even look that pretty anyways.” Seungyun says to herself, wiping a few tears from her cheeks with her soft handkerchief. “‘I’ll love you forever, I’ll be completely loyal to you,’ Seungyun mocks her ex-boyfriend’s words from two years ago when he had personally confessed to her in high school. “Loyal, my .” She spits, rolling her beady eyes in irritation. She finds herself looking down the ground, hopelessly kicking some pebbles, causing a few scratching sounds from the friction it produced. “What do I do now?” She asks herself, releasing a sigh. 

  Taking a quick glance down at her wristwatch, it was almost 5pm so she decides to visit the community park today and maybe the cheerful children with extreme exuberance can cheer her up. Seungyun had always admired children since they were so adorable and fluffy. Her ex-boyfriend, however disliked children. When Seungyun’s baby cousins would visit her parents’ house, her boyfriend was always interfering and telling her that he wanted to go for a walk. Now that she thinks about it, maybe her boyfriend was just using her for his luscious desires. Oh, the shudders, Seungyun thinks to herself, pretending to gag at such disgusting thought. 

     As she arrives at the community park, she spots several children running around and chasing each other happily. She then remembered the time when she was only a little girl and she would always run around the playground while chasing her best childhood friend, Park Chanyeol. Chanyeol and her had always been best friend since they were in diapers or maybe even their mothers’ wombs, considering that Mrs. Park and Mrs. Lee were the bestest of friends. When she grew up, Chanyeol was always the one next to her and being overly protective over here that she literally thinks of her as her own brother. Seungyun had a brother but they didn’t get along that well, so they never really had a closed sibling relationship. Chanyeol, however was always there. 

      Taking a seat on one of the swings, Seungyun found herself slowly swinging back and forth as a fresh breeze blew past her. “Unnie~” She felt a slight tug on her shoulder, causing her to immediately turn around. There, she spots a cute little girl with dark, wavy hair and almond-like eyes with an adorable Hello Kitty dress on smiling at her cutely, following a small wave. Seungyun herself couldn’t help but squeal at the cute little angel in front of her. Smiling, Seungyun waves back at her. 

    “Unnie, I noticed that you didn’t look fine and you’re here alone by yourself. Are you feeling alright?” The little girl questions thoughtfully, looking at Seungyun with a curious look, the beady little eyes cutely blinking a few times. Seungyun couldn’t help but stare at the little girl standing in front of her in amusement. She was so smart and innocent. She resembled a beautiful princess. Coming upon a realization that she hasn’t responded to the little girl for 3 consecutive minutes, Seungyun immediately blinks out of her current trance. 

       “I’m alright. Thank you for asking. I just – I’m not sure if you’ll understand but I just broke up with my boyfriend today.” Seungyun decides on telling the truth to her instead since such beautiful innocent face wasn’t worthy lying at. To her surprise, the little girl nods in an understanding manner. “I understand, unnie. My mommy and daddy aren’t together anymore either.” She replies back, resulting Seungyun to flinch at how much this simple little girl in front of her knows. “What do you mean?” Seungyun asks, a bit intrigued by the little girl’s statement. Anyways, it wouldn’t hurt to ask about it since she had already shared it. 

   “Mommy and Daddy aren’t together anymore because Daddy found another family. I even have a couple of step siblings but they’re really mean to me.” At the little girl’s confession, Seungyun immediately looks at her with a concerned expression. Such cute innocent little girl doesn’t deserve to have such life, Seungyun shakes her head in slight irritation, thinking about how much society changes over time. “Oh, are they?” Seungyun responds, a pitiful look on her face. The little girl nodded in response while adding, “Yes, they are. But, I have Jaeyeol to protect me.” The small pout on the little girl’s lips suddenly changed into a wide smile. Confused, Seungyun asks, “Who’s Jaeyeol?” Smile never leaving her face, the little girl replies, “Jaeyeol’s my best friend. He’s a really good protector. He’s over there.” The little girl pointed to a little boy a few inches taller than her running from side to side back and forth energetically. Seungyun releases a chuckle, the little boy reminding her of Chanyeol.

       “Minnie~ Come here and run with me!” The said boy Jaeyeol calls out with a cheeky smile, motioning the little girl to come over to him with his tiny hand. The little girl averted her gaze back to Seungyun whose smile never departing from her face and says, “Well, I have to go unnie. Jaeyeol’s calling me. It was nice to meet you and I hope you’ll be happy!” The little girl waved goodbye at Seungyun, running towards Jaeyeol. 

          Still smiling, Seungyun tells herself, “Ah~ They’re just like Chanyeol and I when we were children. Anyways, where is that dork anyways?” Puffing out her cheeks, she slipped out her cellphone from her pocket.

(The Phone Call)

Seungyun ; “Yeollie!”

Chanyeol ; “Yunnie!! I just called in your house but your mother said you weren’t there. I was starting to get worried.”

Seungyun ; “Ayye, here he is again being overly protective about me.”

Chanyeol ; “It’s my job, hallo~”

Seungyun ; “Yeah, yeah. Sure~”

Chanyeol ; “You know you like me being protective of you! Hmph~ Anyways, what’s up?”

Seungyun ; “Boyfriend broke up with me. That’s what’s up.”

Chanyeol ; “That stupid, illiterate, lunatic idiot!”

Seungyun ; “I know right? Ugh Yeollie, I don’t know what to do.”

Chanyeol ; “Honey bunchies, come here at my house so we can plan a malicious vengeance.”

Seungyun ; “Woah, there.”

Chanyeol ; “Ah..er..I mean, I’ll comfort you. Now hurry~ It’s just happens to be that..I have ice cream!”

Seungyun ; “I’m coming!”

       Seungyun didn’t know how it happened, but one minute she finds herself standing in front of Chanyeol’s house, readying herself to press the doorbell. “For the sake of ice cream Lee Seungyun, for the sake of ice cream..” She whispers to her panting self, pressing the doorbell. Not even a second, Chanyeol immediately opens the door, revealing a sweating Seungyun with a small awkward smile on her face. Chanyeol gladly allows her to come in, tossing a small towel to wipe her sweat that were dripping from her head and to the side of her head. Chanyeol then took a seat on the couch next to her. 

   “Did you run a marathon on your way here or something?” Chanyeol chortles, somewhat astonished by his best friend’s condition. “Never mention ice cream to me ever again.” Seungyun warns, taking a few heavy breaths, to the point that she seemed almost hyperventilating. “Alright, I won’t.” Chanyeol chuckles again, nodding with her warning. 

        “I’m going to go get some ice cream from the fridge.” Chanyeol stands up, then realizes what he just said and immediately covers his mouth with his hand. “Chanyeol!” Seungyun scolds by the mention of her nemesis, which was more like her fated soulmate that goes by the name of ice cream. Grinning, Chanyeol skips to the kitchen to get some bowl of ice cream for them both. 

     Few minutes later, Chanyeol comes back from the kitchen, two bowls of cookies and cream in his hands. Smiling genially, Chanyeol hands the other bowl to Seungyun while he begins eating his own. Seungyun finds herself smiling at Chanyeol, scooping a spoonful of the delicious taste in . “Thank you, Yeollie.” As a response, Chanyeol smiles and brings a spoonful of ice cream up to his mouth while saying, “No problem, Yunnie,” which in reality actually sounded like, “ro plobrem yeornnie.”

      “Anyways, about that boyfriend of yours..What happened?” Chanyeol questions in a serious tone, wiping the cream on his cheeks with a fresh napkin. Seungyun finds herself taking a deep breath, tapping her chin softly. “I witnessed with my own eyes that he was making out with another girl and then..obviously didn’t show any care when I was right there seeing the whole thing. Then, he just suddenly comes out and tells me he’s breaking up with me. Unbelievable, right?” Seungyun explained, her eyes averting to the ground. 

    “That is so not fabulous. In fact, he’s such an inconsiderate hypocrite.” Chanyeol spits, rolling his eyes in frustration at how Seungyun’s boyfriend could do such terrible thing to her. “Glad you understand me, Yeollie.” She replies, swinging her feet aimlessly back and forth. “You’re just a bit unpredictable. I mean, even your mom can’t seem to comprehend with everything you’re saying, but I can.” Chanyeol tells her, in which she gives him an agreeable nod in return. “I am unpredictable myself.” She admits with a small smile. 

        “So, Yeollie,” Seungyun starts. Chanyeol averted his attention towards her with a soft, “Hmm?” Releasing a sigh, Seungyun continues, “So I met this little girl at the playground today. Her mother and father are separated because her father has found another family. It’s amazing how fast society can change and it even changes for childrens’ families as well. Children should enjoy their childhood and be happy with their father and mother..together. It just doesn’t seem right to me, does it to you?” 

    Pondering a bit, Chanyeol blinks continuously before uttering out a response. “Well, we can’t really control what happens with our lives, you know. Maybe her mother and father just weren’t fated to be together. What I’m trying to say is, if you are dating someone, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to spend your whole life with them. Married couples that lasts around 50 years together makes me really want to smile and give them a huge embrace because it seems like they have found their destined lovers. Hey, you may not know how tough those peoples’ lives were before when it came to love. Maybe they’ve dated 20 people before they got to meet their fated love, it’s how life is. Easy or hard, there are going to be obstacles you’ll encounter.”

          “You just totally went off-topic, Yeol. But thanks for that quick life lesson.” Seungyun beams in amusement, fidgeting with her fingers. “I’m just saying Yunnie that just because your first boyfriend broke up with you, it doesn’t mean its the end of the world. It means that a new beginning is about to blossom and a new person will come into your life and without even realizing it, you’ll open your heart up to him.” Chanyeol’s lips forms into a smile as he ran a hand softly on Seungyun’s hair. 

     Seungyun shifts her eyes towards her amazing best friend, wondering how she received such wonderful and thoughtful friend in her life. “You’re literally the best, Yeollie.” She says with a wide smile, leaning her head on Chanyeol’s shoulder. “Oh honey bunchies, I am indeed fabulous. But, it’s time to start a new beginning and open up that heart of yours for someone new.” Chanyeol glances at his best friend, giving her an encouraging smile. 

         “But Yeollie, what if that person breaks my heart again?” Seungyun questions, her lips forming into a sad pout. “Then, I’ll protect you.” Chanyeol replies warmly, a serene yet sweet smile on his face, which means that he meant it. 

Okay, omg screw everything up! This is going to be my favorite, I repeat, favorite one-shot I've written! (I know I always say that omg but I really love this one!) I decided to end the one-shot with the ending of 365 in which Kai sings, “3.6.5, I'll protect you.” I'm going to go cry a bucket of happy tears because everything seemed perfectly together, like you just wanted friendship and I think, in my opinion, 365 is probably the one that is closest to friendship instead of romance. Also, if you had picked Lucky if somebody already hadn't chosen it, I don't think it'll really go with the friendship kind of flow? You get what I'm saying?
