As we landed I could feel my stomach churn. Something told me from the moment I step foot in Narita Airport that today was not going to get any better.
“Okay Jae, we are going to send you to your grandparent’s stylist to get you changed in to some more appropriate clothes.” My teacher told me.

“Um… what exactly am I getting dressed for?” I questioned her.

“Well today the head of Avex entertainment is going to show you around. It will give you a basic idea of what you will be monitoring and how your grandparent’s company runs.” She expanded. I sighed. The more I got in to this job the more of a headache it seemed to be.

“Oh and Jungmin you’re going to need to get changed too.” The professor told him. I looked over at Jungmin who was in sweatpants, a baseball cap, and a t-shirt and laughed. Don’t get me wrong I didn’t look great either, but Jungmin looked worse.

I went to the stylist and changed in to long grey slacks with the crease that went all the way down to the hem of the pants, with a pink blouse. The cuffs on the blouse were nicely folded and ironed. Along with that the stylist placed a grey jazz hat with a black and white striped ribbon. Honestly, I looked pretty spiffy. However, when it came down to the shoes we started to have problems.

“I’m not going to wear heels.” I protested.

“You’re going to have to get use to them eventually.” My professor told me.

“I know, but right now is not the time to get use to them. I’m not about to go up and down a 30 story building with heels on. “I declared. The professor stared at me with angry eyes,

“Fine, we’ll get you shoes with a low heel.”She told me. Even though I hadn’t fully won the battle of the heels at the very least I didn’t completely lose it. Low heels were way better than the 4 inch heels she was trying to make me wear.

“Let’s get going we are running late.” My professor rushed us out of the studio. As we caught the company car I looked over at Jungmin’s new wardrobe.

“Looking pretty spiffy there oppa.” I complemented. He grinned.

“Thanks, now you would look better if you tipped your hat like…this.” He said, placing my hat sideways.

“Thanks..” I said. I took a quick look at my phone and saw that I had a text message from Hyunseung.

‘Yoseob’s looking for you where are you?’

I sighed. What was I going to tell him? Oh yeah I forgot to mention I’m in Japan…I’ll be home later though! He would freak out. I would never hear the end of it and he would never trust me again.

*I’ll call him later and tell him that I’m at my aunt’s*

When I got to Avex it was nonstop meeting people and walking. I even got to stand in on one of AAA’s recordings. It was fun to see all the process of music making going on however, when we got to the management and finance of it all I could feel myself die a little inside.

“You won’t have to worry too much about the finances since most of these things will be taken care of by the head’s of each department, but you have to keep track of everyone and make sure that no one is overstepping their limits of the budget that they were getting. Ultimately your job is to call the shots, which is why you have to place close attention in each area.” The CEO explained. I nodded and continued walking around the building.

“Umm Mr. Matsuura…”I called him. I didn’t really know how I should address the CEO of another company.

“Just call me Max.” He corrected with a grin on his face.

“Umm Max-senpai… um can you also call the shots on the décor of the building?” I asked. I knew it was a very simplistic question, considering all the other things I had to do. But I figured if one day I wanted to change how my building looked I had the right to do it right?

“Yes Ms. Kim you may change it.” He said chuckling. I smiled and continued on with our tour. As time went on I couldn’t help but think back on Yoseob and what could possibly be going on. I checked my phone and I saw another text message from Hyunseung

‘No one seems to know where you are. Where are you? Lunch is soon!’

“Jungmin can your phone make international calls?” I asked. He nodded. I couldn’t make international phone calls on mine since it was a Korean phone and it wasn’t an international company.

“Yeah, it’s a company phone.” He told me. I grabbed it and dialed Hyunseung’s number.

“I’m sorry Hyunseung is not available please leave a message…” the messenger machine answered.

“Umm Hyunseung, it’s me. I can’t be home in time for lunch. Please tell Yoseob if maybe he can change it to dinner. Some things came up. Don’t worry. I’ll be home soon. Um.. I’ll see you soon.” I said before hanging up.

“You didn’t cancel?” Jungmin asked. I could see the disappointment in his eyes.

“No…” I muttered.

“Are you trying to break that boy’s heart?” He interrogated me.

“No, I just… I want to try to make it!” I answered.

“You and I both know it would’ve been better if you would’ve told him. You guys could’ve rescheduled and it would’ve been fine. I mean yeah he would be a little upset, but still things would be okay. He has his hopes up thinking you’re going to come today… what’s going to happen if you don’t?” He asked. I looked down, a pained by what he was telling me.

“I know but there’s still a chance just… don’t put me down yet okay…”I muttered. As we headed down the stairs and walked outside I saw that it was raining.

When we headed down to the airport my flight was delayed.

*please let me get home on time.*

We waited for hours and hours until finally the call came in.

“The flight to Incheon Airport has been canceled due to weather conditions. This flight will take off at 1am tomorrow morning.” The speaker went off I sighed.

*So much for making it now what am I going to do.*

“Okay we are just going to spend the time here around the airport.” The professor told us. I sighed.

“Jungmin can I borrow your phone…” I asked.

“After we eat…” He said. We headed down to a restaurant and ate. It was 8pm and I knew I needed to call immediately. “Hey it’s Hyunseung.” Jungmin said handing me the phone. I answered quickly.

“hello..” I answered.

“Where are you? Yoseob is waiting for you! He’s all ready and dressed and he decorated the restaurant for you.” He told me. I could feel a knot beginning to form in my throat.

“I….I can’t go…”I muttered.

“What! Why?!” He yelled in my ear. I could tell he was mad.

“I….something came up and there’s no way I can get home today.” I tried to explain.

“Ugh...Jae…..I-I don’t know what to say! How can you stand him up like that!” He yelled at me.

“I didn’t mean to okay! I really wanted to go! I just….I can’t.” I whispered towards the end, I could feel the tears building.

“Umm Yoseob’s here let me pass it to him” He said immediately passing the phone to him.

“Um… Hi.” Yoseob answered. I could hear the disappointment in his voice. At that moment I swallowed hard trying not to cry.

“Yoseob I’m sorry…”I apologized. I knew he wouldn’t accept my apology immediately.

“Just forget it….I’ll talk to you later..” He said quickly. Before I could say anything else he hung up the phone. I looked over at Jungmin and tears started flowing down my cheeks.

“He’s mad huh?” Jungmin said, coming closer to hug me.

“I tried I really did…. And now he’s mad….”I cried in to Jungmin’s clothes.
“It’s okay…”He cooed.

“No… it’s not okay… I’m stupid…..I’m so stupid.” I cried. Jungmin patted my head trying to make me stop crying. At that moment I felt lower than dirt.

[With Yoseob… Yoseob’s POV]

I hung up the phone and wiped the few tears that came out of my eyes.

“Look…I’m sorry man.” Hyunseung apologized.

“It’s okay…it was stupid for me to get all ready and decorate this place for her…”I muttered.

“I’m sure she has a good explanation.” Hyunseung defended her.

“I’m sure she does… I just don’t care. Hyung…. My heart hurts.” I said looking down at the ground. He gave me a hug and I headed home.
