Chapter 4

The funeral service was being held downstairs, the fifth level of the hospital that Tiffany was admitted in. Jaejoong sat uncomfortably beside Yuri while glancing at his watch when the pastor took out the bible & hold it in his hands softly. He looked at the people who were mourning for the decrease. Some of them looked pretty awful with blotchy nose & swollen red eyes. At the sight of almost everyone crying, Jaejoong felt like crying, too. Funeral & weddings always make him wanted to cry. His emotional part will be provoked when it comes to such services. If it’s a wedding, the tears would be for the happily married couple who just tied the knot & if it’s a funeral, it would be for the decrease & his or her late family.

“We’re here to celebrate the life of Kim Hyunjoong, who has been called home by god on April the first of 2001, leaving behind his beloved wife, closest family & friends, life has always been a merriment to him & god.” The pastor said, while Tiffany stepped closer to the huge door & peek through the glass. She was frowning horribly when she heard the name Kim Hyunjoong. It’s strangely familiar to her but her mind was blank. She couldn’t think of who this Hyunjoong person is though she felt like she knows him well.

Tiffany pushed the half glassed door aside & walked towards where they placed the coffin absent-mindedly without other’s realization. She was still in her patient’s outfit. It’s unsuitable for funeral. She frowned at the way people looked at her & started to talk among themselves when they realized her presence, whispering ‘Mrs. Kim’. Jaejoong was shocked when he saw her but said nothing. He tried to inch away from where he was sitting & tried to walk towards her & stop her from going to the opened coffin. He failed, of course, as Tiffany had already reached the altar where they placed the coffin. She looked at the pastor questioningly while the pastor returned her look with a solemn smile, taking pity on her. He knows her as he married her to the decrease a few days ago. He felt rueful for her but there’s nothing he can do about it.

“He’s dead?” She asked innocently, as she took a peek into the coffin, looking at Hyunjoong softly, much to everyone’s surprise. They were expecting her to cry her eyes out to see her husband in there. Tiffany didn’t even cry. She just looked at the calm looking & pale Hyunjoong softly.

“He’s dead?” She repeated, & looked up at the pastor softly, giving him a solemn & tired smile as well, “Well, yes, my child.” The pastor said, not knowing what to say as he observed her weird action.

“It’s such a pity god have to take him away, I feel sad for him.” Tiffany looked up & told the pastor who’s silenced by her calmed & serene
