“It’s funny how you told me that I meant a lot to you, but then you left me for someone else”

I was driving home from my 36 hour shift when i decided to stop by a cake shop. As I was about to park, I saw Kris' car parked on a curb. I parked my car across the shop and saw Kris coming out of the shop with Fei in his arms. Kris kissed her when she was about to ride a cab. I immediately start my car to go home.

I wanted to believe that the past would no longer haunt me but I was wrong. My eyes were not deceiving me. Kris was with Fei. (In case you don’t know who Fei is in this story, she was Kris’ girlfriend after he left me way back in high school)

I was trying to stop the tears from falling as a packed my clothes when I heard the door open.

"Oh, you're home" he says as he walks over to me and back hugs me

"yeah, I just got home" I say as I continued to pack

"Why are you packing?" He looks at my bag

Lie your way out.

"My co - workers went on vacation and I was the only one available to take their shifts" I avoided looking at him

"It's supposed to be your day off"

"I'll be back next week"

“no, I want you home.” He grabs my arm

“I’ll see you next week” I pry his arm off me

“your eyes are red” he tilts my chin

“I just lack sleep” I look away

“tell me what’s wrong”

“nothing’s wrong” I smile at him

I kissed his cheek and closed the door.

I was already driving for an hour when I decided to stop. The tears didn’t stop from flowing and I needed to breathe. I was in so much pain that I might just suddenly swerve my car in to cliff to end it all.

I tried to calm myself when someone knocked on the window. I wiped my tears and opened the window

Kris’ cold face greeted me

“Kris” I whisper

“tell me what’s wrong”

“like I said, there’s nothing wrong” I smile at him

“stop lying” he raises his voice and I squirm

“my head just hurts from lack of sleep”

“then call in sick”

“I can’t. I need to work” I need to get away from you for a while. I need space

“no, you won’t”

“Kris, I don’t want to fight with you right now” I rest my head on the steering wheel

“there won’t be a fight if you come home with me and rest”

“I’m going to work” I start the car

“see, there is a problem”

“I’ll see you next week.” I drive off
