I guess we never really moved on

Description

“Don’t waste your time on someone

Whom you gave an hour but

Only gave you a minute

“He only gave you a minute but

He treasured that minute

For the rest of his life.”

Sometimes, there’s a reason why two people can’t be together no matter how much they loved each other.

Inspired from the song “Lips of an Angel”

Foreword

The phone rings.

One desperate to hear the voice on the other line,

One hesitating whether to answer or hang up.

Love is a very complicated thing. We love someone so deeply and yet we choose another. Fate loves to play games with life.

A familiar ringtone fills the air. Her heart skips a beat. She drops the book she was reading and stares at her phone.

It was him again.

The only man she had ever loved.

She battles with the demons within her.

“Should I answer?” she whispers

The ringing stops.

He stares at his phone.

She didn’t answer.

“honey, what are you doing?” she asks

“nothing” he answers and stares at his phone

“come to bed” she hugs him

“I will. I just have to finish this papers” he kisses her hand

“good night. I love you” she kisses his head

“good night” he smiles.

The door closes. Darkness fill the room.

He dials the number he has memorized by heart again.

The same song fills the air.

“hello?” she answers

“hi” he answers back

There was silence on the other line

“I miss you” he sighs “I just wanted to hear your voice”

“Kris” she whispers

“you didn’t answer my calls. Is there something wrong?” he asks

“this is wrong” she whispers back “you shouldn’t be calling me late at night.”

“I can’t help it”

“you’re married”

“weren’t we?”

“that was the past, we never got married. You have a family now”

“you know the reason why I married her”

“I know” she sighs

“I love you” he whispers

“please” anguish sounding in her voice

“I miss you”

“please, stop” she cries

“I’m sorry”

“don’t” she takes a deep breath “I don’t want to hear it”

“please” he whispers

“no. enough. No more. I can’t take it anymore”

The phone call ends.

She curls up on her couch. Trying to comfort herself.

He sighs. Staring at his phone.
