Kris moved closer to Jongin but kept an arm’s length distance from him.

“Jongin…I, how can I help you? I mean, I’m so sorry for everything.” Kris slapped himself across the face because he was such a total mess right now. He couldn’t find the right words to say to Jongin at the very moment.

Jongin settled himself on Kris’ bed, loosened his tie a bit and exhaled deeply. Kris scratched his chin and looked up at the ceiling hoping for some kind of miracle, which would make Jongin not hate him. He felt really nervous around Jongin now; he didn’t want to say anything that would sound inappropriate at the moment. The atmosphere was really intense around these two.

“Why did you do it?” Jongin raised his gaze to meet Kris’. Kris has never seen Jongin so tense and frustrated in his life. Kris exhaled and paced around the room for a while, searching for the right words that would justify his past deeds.

“Jongin I actually don’t know why I did what I did to you.” Kris stood still and dropped his gaze from Jongin’. Jongin stood up and marched straight to Kris. Jongin was literally so close to Kris that he could actually hear Kris’ heart thumping.

“What did you just say?! Wow I can’t believe you just said that to me. You don’t know why? Do you know what you put me and D.O through?!” Jongin started crying and now he was the one pacing around the room. He flared his nostrils and was fuming now! He made brisk steps around the room; stopping now and then to scratch his head in disbelief of Kris’ answer.

“Jongin please calm down-“

“You want me to calm down! Then give me a straight answer!” Jongin stopped pacing and set back down on Kris’ bed.

“I guess the truth is that I just wanted you to love me so badly, as much as I loved you…that I didn’t realize how much I was hurting you in the process. I’m not ashamed to admit that I was very obsessed with you. Please find it in your heart to forgive me…I would rather die than hurt you again like that.” Kris raised his head up to stop the tears from running down his face. Jongin dug his fingers into the spongy parts of the bed.

Jongin shook his head violently causing his brunette bangs to cover his right eye. Jongin looked at Kris who was looking straight at Jongin now, Kris’ eyes full of sorrow and regret. “You make it so hard for me to hate you! I wish I could say I hate you right now… but then I won’t only be lying to you but I would also be lying to myself as well.” Jongin shuffled his feet around.

“I forgave you a long time ago Kris.” Jongin flashed a brief reconciling smile to Kris and Kris just went numb, not able to move or function properly now. He felt as if the angels had descended their grace upon him and allowed this marvelous human being to be part of his currently unworthy life.

“I truly don’t know what to say right now. Thank you Jongin, I will not disappoint you. I will try my best to make you proud of me and make all the other members proud of me too.” Kris bowed with the outmost respect for Jongin and when he was rising from his bow, his eyes met with Jongin’.

Jongin felt his heart fluttering when he stared deep into Kris’ beautiful eyes. Suddenly the room temperature felt a little bit warmer. Jongin wiggled his on the bed because he felt a bit unsure of his feeling for Kris right now.

Kris thought Jongin looked really cute when he was serious; Kris chuckled a bit and covered his mouth with his hand. Jongin looked up quickly at Kris and feared that maybe Kris might be laughing at him.

“What’s so funny?” Jongin asked nervously, he was afraid that Kris might have been observing how totally infatuated he was right now; when he was staring into Kris bright eyes.

“No, it’s just that I heard a little rumor about how Hyoyeon got admitted into this institution a few months back, because of a broken heart. Is this rumor true Jongin?” Kris folded his arms and was now staring directly at Jongin; Jongin placed one finger on his bottom lip and made a confused face at Kris.

“What? Why are you asking me if that’s true?” Jongin looked away.

“Well I heard that the person who caused her heart break was you. I heard that she asked you out repeatedly and you rejected her repeatedly. So are the rumors true?” Kris searched Jongin’ face for any kind of reaction. Jongin nodded slowly in agreement.

“Yes it’s true.” Jongin pushed his bangs back.

“Hmmm…so you are a regular heartbreaker.” Kris chuckled a bit when he saw Jongin’ cheeks going red.

“ Jongin what I’ve come to realize in my not so short stay in this place, is that one cannot force another to love them, if the other is not willing to open up their heart. So what I’m trying to say is that I can’t make you love me. The way I felt about you was very obsessive and possessive; it wasn’t good for my health and since I’ve come to terms with that, I can now breathe and enjoy life.” Kris ended his long speech and smiled at Jongin. Jongin didn’t know what to make out of Kris’ long speech but thought Kris was finally over him.

“I’m really proud of you hyung, do you think maybe there is a possibility that we could be friends? Do you think there is a possibility that we could start on a new clean slate and forget about the past?” Jongin stood up and elongated his hand so it could meet with Kris’. Kris took this gesture as a sign of Jongin wanting a have a hand shake.

“I would love that very much Jongin.” Kris shook Jongin’ hands and both boys smiled.

“Then allow me to introduce myself, my name is Kim Jongin, nice to meet you…what’s your name?” Jongin shook Kris’ hand. This moment felt surreal to Kris, he couldn’t believe Jongin was willing to give him a second chance, a second shot to be part of his life.

“I don’t know what to say…” Kris was still trying to let this moment sink in.

“What is your name?” Jongin asked again but this time with a curious expression on his face, as if he was dying to know what the boy’s name was. Kris giggled when he saw the serious look on Jongin’ face. Jongin also started giggling but he was giggling because he felt so silly asking Kris to tell him his name when he knew damn well who Kris was.

Kris stopped giggling and fanned himself. “My name is Kevin Wu Fan. It’s very nice to meet you Kim Jongin.” Kris bowed slightly at Jongin.

“Jongin I hope you and D.O get a chance to finally be together…you both would make such a cute couple anyway.” Kris scratched his head and looked at the dresser. Jongin fiddled with his hands and knew that he would never be a couple with D.O as long as Suho was around.

“Ah… me and D.O are just good friends.” Jongin smiled and Kris didn’t push on with any further questions.

“I guess I will be seeing you after six months, take care of yourself hyung.” Jongin bowed at Kris and Kris bowed back. Both boys stood silently for a while almost like admiring one another. Jongin couldn’t help but feel drawn to Kris for some unexplainable reason.

Jongin did something totally out character and stepped in closer to Kris. Jongin wrapped his arms around Kris’ waist before finally laying his head on Kris’ chest. Kris hesitated for a minute before finally wrapping his own arms around Jongin. The hug was pretty stiff at first but eased up after a few seconds. Jongin closed his eyes to take in this brief moment. Jongin suddenly felt the loving warmth he missed at the MAMA awards. Jongin couldn’t help but reminisce about the dream he had a year ago: about Kris holding him safely in his arms and how he felt as if no harm would ever come to him.

Both boys finally pulled away from the hug, letting their hands slide off of each other’s arms before letting their hands join together. Jongin stared at Kris’ gigantic warm hands and how they covered his so perfectly. Jongin pulled his hands away from Kris’. Jongin stared at the ground, too afraid to look at Kris now, because he was too afraid if he had another look into those big bright beautiful eyes he would certainly fall for him.

Jongin felt as if his stomach was in knots now, he felt a great unexplainable pain across his chest. He didn’t know what was causing the sharp pain and he was afraid that maybe Wu fan was the cause. Jongin has never felt so confused in his life before, unsure of himself and his feelings.

Jongin moved away from Kris’ direction and was making his way towards the door, Jongin turned slightly towards Kris and said: “I guess I will see you in six months time, Kevin Wu Fan.” Jongin gave a shaky smile and walked out of Kris’ room covering his eyes, so that Kris could not have a chance to see how much he truly cared for him.

“I guess I will see you in six months time…Kim Jongin.” Kris made his way towards the door and leaned on the doorway and watched Jongin disappear.
