Ring. Ring. Ring.

 

It’s the sound of my alarm clock on my night stand; I slowly sat up on my bed with my eyes half close and stretch my arms and yawned. I got out of my bed and go the bathroom to do my everyday routine. After that, I went out of my room and go to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. When I’m done, I went to my mother’s room to wake her up. I slowly open the door and I saw her lying on her bed already awake.

 

“Mom” I called as I entered her room. She turned her head to me and smile. I walk up to her and sit on the edge of her bed.

 

“Breakfast is ready. Do you want me to bring it here or you go eat with me at the dining table?” I asked my mother and she smiled at me.

 

“I’ll eat with you” She said and tries to sit up but she end up falling back on the bed. I can see on her face the sadness that’s why I hold her hand and squeeze it a little bit.

 

“Don’t worry mom, its okay. I’ll just bring here your breakfast.” I was about to stand up but she caught my wrist. I look down at her and I saw that she’s crying.

 

“Mianhae, Jihye-ah you’re mom is worthless just lying here in bed while you work so hard for us to live and survive. You should be studying right now instead; I should be the one who’s working so you can go back to school and achieve your dreams but I ruined all of it.” my mom said while tears coming down from her eyes.

 

“No, mom it’s not your fault you got sick and don’t worry about me I’m okay so stop crying” I said as I wipe away her tears.

 

“But, if I didn’t get sick maybe you’re college now.” My mom said but I shook my head.

 

“Don’t blame yourself mom, it’s no ones fault maybe this is just a test on how strong we are as an individual. I know God have a better plan for us but for now we have to endure all the things we’re going through, we can survive mom, just trust me.” I reassured her and she finally nodded her head in agreement.

 

“I should get your breakfast before it gets cold” I stand up and get back to the kitchen to bring her food inside her room. As I walk up to the kitchen, tears started to rolled down on my cheeks. Honestly, I want to finish my study but I can’t, since my mother got sick, I have to work for her medicine and treatment. If you’re wondering what my mother’s disease is, she has muscular dystrophy and there is no cure for that disease but there are different kinds of treatment that can ease the muscle pain and slow down the muscle weakness but the therapy for my mom needs a lot of money and until now, I’m saving up money to get her a therapy session. I know it’s hard but I know I can do it.

 

I lifted up the tray of food from the table and go back to my mom’s room. I used my right hand to open the door while my left hand is holding the tray.

 

“Here’s your breakfast mom” I said as I put the tray in front of her and sit on the chair near her bed. I open the bowl of rice and grabbed the spoon and chopsticks but my mom stops me.

 

“I can eat with myself; just go eat yours before it gets cold.” My mom said and I smiled at her.

 

“Okay mom, but when you get finish just call me outside” I said before I stood up and walk out of the room and went back to the dining area and eat my breakfast. I was eating my food when my phone suddenly rings. I took out my phone from my pocket and answer it without looking who it is.

 

“Hello?” I said and all I can hear is sobbing on the other line.

 

“Jihye-ah, I think I can’t go to work today, my son got injured and we’re here in the hospital. I already called Mr. Lee and he said I need a replacement for my shift and you’re the only one I think first.” Sora unnie cried on the phone.

 

“Don’t worry unnie, I’ll take your shift tonight. I hope Minhyuk will get better.” I said without thinking the consequences that might happen because when I take her ship, it means I have to work until 11pm tonight but I don’t care as long as I can help Sora unnie who’s a sister to me.

 

“Thank you so much Jihye-ah. Don’t worry I’ll repay you for this.” Unnie said and hung up. I continue to eat my breakfast but didn’t have much appetite than earlier. I put down my spoon and went to my mom’s room to check if she’s already finish.

 

“Mom, are you done?” I said as I walked up to her and she nodded.

 

“Why you didn’t call me? Wait, I’ll get your medicine” I said and walk up to the drawer near her bed and grabbed the bottle of pills. I open the bottle to get one and give it to her with the glass of water. She took it from my hand and after drinking the water she sighed.

 

“What’s wrong mom?” I asked and she looks at me.

 

“I heard you will work today until 11pm, are you sure you can do it?” My mom asked.

 

“Don’t worry mom, I’m a strong girl, I know I can do it” I assured her but she still looks at me worriedly.

 

“Okay, but be careful. Don’t push yourself to the limit.” My mom said and I nodded my head.

 

“Don’t worry mom, I’ll get home after my shift. Oh, I gotta go mom see you later. Don’t forget to take your medicine on time okay?” I reminded her and kiss her on the cheeks.

 

“Arraso Dr. Jihye” Mom said in a playful tone and I pouted.

 

“Mom!” I whined and she starts to laugh.

 

“Okay, okay you go ahead. You’ll going to be late.” My mom stops laughing at me and shoo me away. I nodded my head and walk towards the door and left the room. I grabbed my bag on our oh so small couch and walk out to my work.

 

 

I’m waiting here at the bus stop for about 10 minutes now but still no bus is coming. What is happening? I look at my watch and my eyes widen. Oh my god! It’s already 8:45am! I started to panic because I’m going to be late and I only have 15 minutes to get at my workplace. I turned to look at both sides and decided to cross the street running but when I’m already at the middle, a car came towards me really fast. My body froze on the spot and all I could do is close my eyes tightly, waiting for the car to hit me but I felt nothing against my body. I slowly open my eyes and look at the car that’s only an inch away from me. I put my hand right in front of my chest and heave a sigh then; the owner of the car came out.

 

“What do you think you’re doing huh? If you want to die, why don’t you go to the tallest building here in Seoul and jump from the top? I think it’s better than doing this” the guy coldly said and I lowered down my head.

 

“I’m really sorry; I just need to get on my work on time.” I explained and I heard him smirked.

 

“Next time wake up early so that you will get on time. If you’re my employee, I will immediately fire you.” The guy said as he crossed his arms against his chest.

 

“Mianhae, I’m really sorry” I bowed at him hoping that he will forgive me.

 

“Get in” the guy said and I look up at him with wide eyes. Did I hear it right?

 

“I said get in. You don’t want to be late right?” the guy raised an eyebrow and I nodded.

 

“Then what are you waiting for, Christmas?” the guy said in a mocking way and open the door of the passengers seat. I immediately get in the car and wear the seatbelt while he gets in on the drivers seat with his intimidating looks.

 

“Where are you working at?” he asked me without looking at me.

 

“Star Café” I answered. The whole ride was awkward as hell, he didn’t even say anything to me, and he just keeps focusing on the road. I took several glances at him because he really looks good but the attitude ruined everything.

 

“You can’t stop looking at me, am I that handsome for you?” the guy said and I quickly look away upon realizing that I’m staring at him.

 

“We’re here” He announced and I quickly get out of his car without even thanking him and run towards the café. When I open the glass door, I saw my friend Sunmi running towards me.

 

“Omo! Jihye-ah, you’re almost late! Mr. Lee has been looking for you” Sunmi pushed me inside Mr. Lee’s office.

 

“I’m sorry something come up at home” I apologized and she nodded. I slowly open the manager’s office and I saw him sitting on his chair with his eyes focused on his laptop.

 

“Mr. Lee…” I called and he looks up at me.

 

“Did Sora already tell you?” my manger starts and I nodded.

 

“Yes sir. Her son was injured and she wasn’t able to go here tonight for her shift that’s why she asked me to replace her.” I said and he hummed in agreement.

 

“But, I decided to change your shift for the whole month. Starting tomorrow, you’re now working on night shift” manager said. I want to protest but I know I can’t do anything about it and if I want to stay here, I have to follow them.

 

“I understand sir” I said and he smiled at me.

 

“Good. Don’t worry; after Sora’s son recovered you’ll going back to your usual shift.” Mr. Lee said and I nodded.

 

“Okay that’s it. You may go now.” He added and I left his office. Once I closed the door behind, Sunmi immediately pulled me in the locker room with her.

 

“What does he said?” Sunmi curiously asked and I sigh.

 

“I’m going to be on the night shift for the mean time.” I answered and her eyes widen.

 

“You too? He also told me that earlier.” Sunmi knitted her brows.

 

“It’s okay at least we’re still together.” I smiled and she nudges me.

 

“Stop being cheesy” she said and both of us laugh.

 

It’s already 4pm but I’m still at the café serving foods and drinks to our customers. I forgot to tell, our café is very famous here in Seoul because a lot of celebrities are coming here. Sora unnie told me one time that celebrities usually came here at night than day time that’s why she already saw a lot of them. Some of our loyal customers are Han Jihye, Kim Jiwon, Infinite, Won Bin, Song Jihyo, Yoon Eunhye, EXO and a lot more. I can still remember the first time I work here; it was night shift because I’m still going to school and the first celebrities that I encounter are the famous kpop boy group Infinite. I was too shy to get their orders but I need to do that and I’m so happy that they’re really nice but Sungjong was the shy type of guy. He doesn’t talk much but when you knew him better, I discovered that he’s really sweet and caring. Infinite and I became friends and sometimes, they went here to hang out with me, talking about what they did the whole day. They even gave me a two VIP pass for their concert and I gave the other one to Sunmi, my best friend.

 

Ding!

 

I stop cleaning the table to greet the customers and my eyes got wide. It’s Sunmi’s favorite boy group, EXO. I hope Sunmi is here but she already went home. The twelve guys sits on their usual spot, I grabbed my note and pen from the pocket of my apron and come to them.

 

“Hello Sir. Welcome to Star Café. What’s your order sir?” I smiled at them but they just ignored me. I was about turned around but someone caught my wrist, it’s Kris Wu.

 

“Yes sir?” I asked him.

 

“We want to order the usual” he said in his deep voice and I nodded even if I really didn’t understand a thing. This is my first time getting their order because it’s always Sunmi doing it with her fangirl thing. I walked up to the counter with confusion.

 

“Jino, they said they want to order their usual, but I don’t know what it is” I said to Jino who’s busy wiping the counter.

 

“Ah, don’t worry about that Jaesang hyung will take care of it. Just wait here” Jino said and leave me alone there. After several minutes, Jino came out with a tray of drinks on his hand. I look at him serve the drinks to them and I saw that they looked satisfied with it.

 

“Jihye, your drooling” Jino said as he approach me and I look at him shock.

 

“Ahaha…Don’t worry I understand you. This is your first time getting their orders right?” Jino said and I nodded. Actually, I’ve seen them here always and I always took glances at them and I find them really nice most especially Suho, he’s a gentle man and he’s very polite to others but Kris is the opposite, he’s indeed the cold guy. I was looking at them watching their move when I feel someone entered the café and based on their voices, I already know who they are.

 

“Hey, Jihye-ah what’s up?” Dongwoo high five me while the others wave at me.

 

“What are you doing here?” I asked them in surprised because usually, at this time they’re still in Woollim practicing their dance step.

 

“Myungsoo keeps whining that he wants to see you.” Sunggyu simply said as he walks to their table while I’m blushing red like tomatoes.

 

“Come on, let’s go to our table.” Sungjong pulled me with them and I noticed EXO looking at me. I saw Kai whispering something at Tao while the latter is nodding his head and glances at me.

 

“I need to work guys” I said as Sungjong pushed me down to sit on the chair.

 

“Jihye-ah, do you want to come with us at Seoul Fashion Gala? It was sponsored by Kim Enterprise, you know Sunggyu hyung cousin is the CEO” Myungsoo asked and I choked my own saliva upon hearing what he said.

 

“Yeah, that’s a nice idea” Sungjong beamed.

 

“But-.” I didn’t even finish my words.

 

“No buts. I’m going to get you a dress tomorrow.” Myungsoo said and all I could do is sighing.

 

“Myungsoo and I will go to pick you up here by 3pm.” Sunggyu said.

 

“But I have work.” I protested and Sungyeol glared at me.

 

“Liar, we already talk to Mr. Lee and he said you’re now in night shift.” Sungyeol said and I was about to say something but Woohyun butted in.

 

“I need to go, Eunbi is waiting for me” Woohyun said and leaving us dumbfounded.

 

“I didn’t realize he’s with us” Dongwoo said looking at Woohyun.

 

“Me too, he’s always busy talking with his girlfriend on the phone. I wonder how he convinced Eunbi to be his girlfriend.” Myungsoo said and the others nodded.

 

“Because, he’s nice that’s all and he also looks good.” I said

 

“By the way, back to our topic, Jihye-ah I’m going to be your partner.” Dongwoo said but Myungsoo smack him.

 

“I’m her partner, I’m the one asked her to come with us not you.” Myungsoo glared at him.

 

“Yah, stop being so childish you’re already in your 20’s” Sunggyu stopped them while I’m just looking down on the floor because I know that EXO is still watching us and I feel embarrassed.

 

“Okay, I’ll come with you” I said and all of them widely smiles at me while Myungsoo slung his arm over my shoulder. I look around and I saw Kris looking at me straight in the eye.
