“Oh I forgot, you might know him as Kai.” Mrs.Park answers and right at that moment, Kris swears he feels his heart being torn into two.

“Kai?” Kris’ voice echoes. Mrs.Park notices the changes in his face, and that’s when she realizes, this man have got it bad for her daughter. She couldn’t help but to feel bad for him. Oh fate.

“Do you want to join us for dinner?” Mrs.Park asks. She knows she’s not supposed to ask that, but it seems rude to not to. Kris doesn’t know what to answer. It’s not like he’s not used to have dinner with them, it’s just the fact that Kai is here with them, sends chills through out his spine.

He likes Alissa, and when you like someone, you don’t want to see them with another people.

But what comes out from Kris’ mouth is totally different than what a rational man would answer. Somehow, deep in his heart he needs to see them, Kai and Alissa together. He needs to see if Alissa is okay, he needs to convinces himself that Alissa is happy. And maybe with that, he will go home in peace. If it’s not soo much for being happy to be with her, but he will still be happy to know she’s with someone she loves. Love is ridiculous, he chuckles inside his mind when he thought of that.

Love pushes you to the edge,

just for the sake of seeing people you love happy,

even thought it means you might fall down the cliff.

“I’d love to join you for dinner.” Kris answers.

When Alissa and Kai step into the house bringing the food they bought from outside, Kris feels like somebody have just taken his heart, chews it, and then throws it back in front of his face. It’s not only the presence of both of them together that wounds his heart, it’s the giggle of Alissa that Kris never heard before. He is sitting in the kitchen when Alissa and Kai walks in.

“Oh, Kris, you’re here?” Alissa stops giggling upon seeing the tall figure in her kitchen. Kai stops walking behind her, and then he looks at the infamous man standing before their eyes.

“Ahhh kids, you’re back. Yes, Kris will be joining us for dinner tonight.” Mrs.Park answers instead of Kris. She then walks to Alissa and Kai to pick up the plastic of food they bought earlier and bring them to the kitchen counter to prepare the dishes.

“Thank you, mum.” Alissa mumbles to her mom when Mrs.Park takes the food from Alissa’s hand, she then turns her attention to Kris.

“I havent seen you in few days so I thought of dropping by to say hi.” Kris says when he found Alissa’s eyes focuses on him. Alissa nods at him and then she turns around to take a look at Kai who is still standing silently behind her. She beckons him to come forward. Kai steps forward and then he looks at Kris.

“Hi Kris hyung, you might not remember me, but I’m Kai, your group member.” Kai introduces himself and then he gives Kris a little bow. Kris bows back to him, not so sure of what to reply. This is the guy that Kris have stopped from seeing Alissa few days ago in the airport, but here he is now, in Alissa’s house, closer to her than he will ever be.

Kris is not hurting, he is totally broken.

The dinner pass in silence. Taec is not really that friendly to begin with so it’s not weird that he’s not talking. Mrs.Park tries to start a conversation few times but only to meet with a dead end. After some while, they all stop trying and just savor the inaudible dinner. Alissa knows she have a lot to talk to Kris so when they’re finally done with their dinner, Alissa taps Kris’ shoulder and asks him to come to the balcony outside of the house with her.

It is a good breezy night. The wind wraps both Kris’ and Alissa’s body as soon as they come out from the house. Alissa likes it, it’s chilly, but it’s not too cold. She then sits on the bench in the balcony, where Kris later follows her suit.

“You made up with Kai.” Kris is the one who breaks the silence.

“The engagement isnt real.” Alissa replies.

“Why?” Kris asks, almost whispering. Alissa heaves a heavy sigh.

“Kai doesn’t have long, Kris. He’s in stage 3 of brain cancer.” Alissa slowly says. Kris’ eyes widen instantly as he hears this. He turns his head to look at her.

“He….”

“He knew I was coming, he need to make me hate him so I’ll go away, but th
