The seas are especially cold when it's foggy and cloudy. It becomes quite unbearable at night when the weather continues to billow loudly, water hitting the ship unforgivably. That's when most sailors end up contemplating on life, missing their families, and wishing and hoping and praying to whatever god that they will make it home safely.

The seas are so large, it makes them realize how small, how insignificant they are.

Jin lies in the top bunk, unable to sleep, unable to think of anything else but home. He hasn't seen land in two months, and the captain still doesn't know how long it will take to reach the land they're going to. He feels angry, sad, annoyed—there's so much negative emotions building up inside of him that he feels he'll burst before the thick rainclouds outside. He can hear the dry sound of thunder with no rain. He can also hear the dullness of the wind, but all of the coldness.

Jin grips at his blanket tighter, wrapping himself completely around the thin fabric as if it would help. But it doesn't. He feels terrible and he misses everything that was his home. He misses being able to cook anything other than preserved food. He misses all of his friends. He misses being able to take care of them because that's just how he is and he knows he annoys them sometimes but they love him just as much as he loves them and—

“Hyung. Jin hyung,” a voice calls, interrupting what would have followed pitiful sobbing. The voice is rough and low, but it's warm. It's something he doesn't usually hear because all of his shipmates aren't here to be friends, but to do work (and frankly Jin thinks all of them to be boring).
