Indirect Kiss
Hey! Say! Jump Drabble Collection
“Did someone die?”, Daiki pondered upon arriving their usual table inside his and his friends’ favourite café. He noticed his best friend giving off a dark aura, his head turned to the side as if avoiding Rio’s pleading face. This is an expression Ryosuke portrays whenever he's with one particular person - this person is none other than Nakajima Yuto, his rival. His theory was proven right when his eyes landed on the culprit who has his head on the opposite direction. Almost immediately, Daiki knew that it is one of their usual love-triangle spats.
“I’ve seen YamaYuto rivalry before, but I didn’t realise they're this petty”, Chinen, who was sitting opposite Yuto rolled his eyes before taking his first sip from his matcha frappucino. The coldness coming from his drink was opposite from the amount of heat Ryosuke and Yuto are emitting. It was indeed a battle of dominance.
Daiki sighed and took a seat opposite his best friend. He purposely left a chair in between him and Chinen to save a seat for Amu who is running late from work. His main focus was on his best friend’s brooding face, but on the back of his mind, he is also mindful of his own rival, Chinen Yuri. He noticed how the young boy ordered Amu’s favourite summer drink – matcha frappucino. He shrugged this thought off, knowing that only one of them is allowed to be childish at any one time; and today is Ryosuke’s turn.
“What are you jealous about this time?”, Daiki teased and saw Yuto turning his head first.
“Yama-chan is jealous because I bought Rio-chan her favourite strawberry drink”, Yuto reported like he was mocking his rival. Rio, who was sitting in between the two boys started to massage her temples and just couldn’t help but face-palm herself in disbelief. How old are they again?
As a reply, Ryosuke scoffed, “Hah! Jealous? Don’t get ahead of yourself, Nakajima”, he countered.
“Not jealous, huh?”, Yuto smirked, obvious that he takes absolute pleasure in pushing Ryosuke’s buttons, “… then you wouldn’t mind if I buy a cake for me and Rio-chan to share, ne?”.
“Yuu-chan, that’s not helping”, Rio warned but little did she know, calling her childhood friend ‘Yuu-chan’ ticked Ryosuke even more. She watched as Yuto attempted stand up from his chair but then, Ryosuke’s arm flew across the table and pulled Yuto back onto his seat.
“Don’t you dare!”, Ryosuke glared and shot daggers to the younger boy, "I'll get MY GIRLFRIEND her cake", he said while emphasing the word 'girlfriend' to mark his territory .
Yuto chuckled at how the boy reacted and considered this as his way of ‘winning’ against the ace of JUMP.

“Maa, before you kill each other, let’s just order. I want to get a drink for Amu too. She’ll be here any minute”, Chinen only intended this as a friendly way to cool the two boys off but to Daiki’s ears, it was a declaration of war. His voice ringed and started banging alarm bells inside the boy's head.
“No! I’ll get it”, Daiki prompted, not allowing his own rival to get his girlfriend’s drink. Without giving Chinen a chance to protest, Daiki and Ryosuke went ahead towards the counter.
While watching their figures approach the till, Yuto turned to Chinen and chuckled at his devious friend, “I see what you did there”. He found it amusing how easy it is to piss the two boys off just by doing simple things. He knew that Chinen purposely said that he’ll get Amu’s drink to trigger Daiki, “One of these days, we’ll both get ourselves beaten up by Ryo and Dai-chan just by talking to Amu and Rio”.
“Worth it”, Chinen winked with a plan to further tease the older boys.
----
“Dude, you’re too obvious”, Daiki saw Ryosuke tapping his fingers impatiently while waiting for their orders. He took quick glances at their table, making sure that Yuto is not pulling any move
