004: Trainee life
miyoung's guide into the idol worldEvery time I read a fanfic that has to do with becoming an idol, I kind of giggle to myself because they make it seem like trainees have all the time to go out with their friends and what not. Well, of course I'm here to tell you guys that, no, trainees literally had no time to do other things except school, training, and eating (and sometimes people even forget to eat). Training for everyone is different so I can't tell you how everyone's schedules is, so I'll give you a schedule my friend has (she lives in Korea and she's still training):
6-7AM - she wakes up to get ready for school
8AM-4PM - she's at school
4PM-whenever - she's at her company training
There's not a set time for how long you have to train since each day is usually different. Trainees have training classes they have to attend (music, vocal, dance) and they usually last an hour or so before they either go to another class, or they self-practice. My friend told me that if you want a chance to debut quickly and/or get noticed by the company for being dedicated, trainees tend to stay until midnight or so just practicing.
As some of you know, almost all the students in Korea go to hagwons (academic academies that help students study/learn more) after they get out of school, but most trainees don't even have the time to go to a hagwon, or even stay after class to self-study.
Trainees rarely have any free time, but they might get a day off once in a while which isn't even necessary because some really dedicated trainees just continue to train anyways. When I was a trainee, I had no time to hang out with my friends or family because I was always so busy with training. It went on to the point that I ended up drifting away from my friends and because I was busy with classes and always physically moving around, I ended up losing 12 kg(26 pounds) in a month because of all the work outs (and I ended up forgetting to eat). (12kg in a month is not good, okay.)
Don't get me started on their workouts, oh my goodness. When I trained, I've probably ran 10 times more in one month compared to two entire years of PE in the states. Miles, sit ups, pushups, you name it, I probably did it. One exercise that I absolutely hated was something called Hell Squats (okay, that's probably not the name, but it was hell every time I had to do it). Take your simple squats and add them with walking half a mile. I walked in squat formation for half a mile. Like, it doesn't sound that bad, but it was hell. It was so bad that the first time I did hell squats, my legs were sore for 3 weeks and the first week, I could barely even walk. HELL SQUATS, I TELL YA.
TL;DR: Training gon' be long, hard, and time consuming for ya, bro. ((and hell squats are hell and I hate them with a passion))
Note: Since this chapter and the last chapter were more of opinions and they were short, I decided to post up two chapters today. Oh! I received a message anonymously on the form, so as soon as I finish my current suggestions, I answer your questions, okay?^^
