Chapter 9

The Reason

Minho is in the US for a seminar as the representative of Sun Life. It was a three day seminar and he wants to eat something good. Good thing his cousin’s house is just a few minutes away from the venue.

Minho took a cab going there. When he arrived, Nicole immediately welcomed him and led him to the living room.

“It’s good that you visited us. I missed you so much, Oppa.” Said Nicole

Minho has been really close to Nicole. She’s one of the few persons he is this close to aside from WW club.

“Where’s your brother?” asked Minho

“He’s in the room, resting.” Said Nicole

“How are his treatments?” said Minho

Nicole just took a deep breath and looked away

“It has become harder and harder to convince him to go to the treatments. He wants to go back to Korea badly.” Said Nicole.

“But he won’t be able to get the treatments he need there.” Said Minho

“Exactly…But he has been hard headed…He likes to see his first love.” said Nicole “Can you talk to him, Oppa?”

“You know Hyung does not listen to any one. Why would you think he’ll listen to me.” Asked Minho

“I don’t know…I just want to try.” Said Nicole

Minho went to Heechul’s room. He was sitting then looking out the window.

“Hyung.” greeted Minho

Minho and Heechul were never close. They are even a bit cold towards each other. But on the few instances that they would talk to each other, the fact that blood connects them can’t be denied.

“Minho.” Said Heechul “I didn’t know you’re in the US.”

“I came for a  seminar and thought that it’s good to visit.” Said Minho

“Nicole will be happy to see you.” Said Heechul

“I just saw her downstairs.” Said Minho

 “It’s good that you came…I’ve been wanting to talk to you.” Said Heechul

“Talk to me? About what?” asked Minho

“About the woman I like” said Heechul

Minho felt awkward why Heechul would share his love life with him all of a sudden.

“Her name is Choi Sulli. She had just passed the exam for Sun Life.” Said Heechul

“You still know everything that happens to her.” Said Minho

“I want to make sure she’s doing ok.” Said Heechul

“So she’s going to Sun Life?” Said Minho

“I heard she’s been preparing for the exam, and now she has passed, It’s almost certain that she will go to Sun Life. She’ll be taking Finance.” Said Heechul “She’ll start in 3 months.”

“And the reason why you wanted to talk to me is because?” asked Minho

“Because I know you control Sun Life. I know how powerful you are there. I want you to look out for her for me.” Said Heechul

“Sun Life is known to be really harsh to the scholars. And Sulli is just a girl who has dreams. I don’t want her to be eaten alive by the system and the people there.” Said Heechul

“Hyung, Do you think it will be easy to protect someone when everyone is looking at me every minute of every  day? Everyone will surely wonder why I am paying attention to an ordinary student. WW club for one will surely ask questions.” Said Minho

“I am asking this to you as your cousin. I have never asked for a favor from you. And I never really wanted to. If I can be there for her personally I would.  I know being WW club’s leader is already a big responsibility on its own. But I just can’t leave her alone.” Said Heechul

“Then…Can I ask for a favor in return?” asked Minho

“What is it?” asked Heechul

“If I watch out for her, can you promise to take your treatments seriously? Can you promise not to make everything hard for anyone by getting your treatments on time?” asked Minho

“It’s Nicole. She talked to you.” Said  Heechul
