Chapter 22

Intervention

Minho went to the school café to meet Jonghyun. He sent him a phone message earlier to tell him that they need to talk.

“Hey. Why do we need to meet here?” asked Minho

“Umm…I just wanted to ask you about something…that the girls shouldn’t hear.” Said Jonghyun

“What is it?” asked Minho

“You know what happened in that library at Suzy’s house?” asked Jonghyun “I kind of heard you and Sulli talking…and…kinda saw what happened.”

Oh Man! Thought Minho. Minho’s forehead started to break into a sweat.

“I just want you to know what I think.” Said Jonghyun

“And what do you think?” asked Minho

“I think that…you like her…but you’re trying to fight it off.” said Jonghyun

“I thought we talked this already.” Said Minho

“The way you talked to her in that library…you have never talked like that with any of Suzy, Hara or Krystal. It was like you were flirting with her.” Said Jonghyun “And I am not saying you were flirting, I am just saying that flirtation naturally flowed out of you when Sulli is concerned.”

Minho had to take a deep breath.

“And of course, should I mention about that accidental-“

“Please don’t continue what you’re about to say. I’ve already had sleepless nights thinking about that.” said Minho

Jonghyun had to chuckle.

“Now I want to hear what YOU think.” Said Jonghyun

“I...I still have it in control” said Minho

“Having your feelings in control? Did you just admit that you like her?” Jonghyun asked surprised.

When Minho just stayed silent, Jonghyun had to laugh

“Well the…Since when?”

Minho can still remember the time Sulli went to that old woman’s house and how he wasn’t able to sleep that night thinking of how she treated the old woman.

“Since the beginning.” Said Minho

“No kidding?” Jonghyun can’t believe what Minho is saying. Is he playing with him? “Despite the bird’s nest hair?

Jonghyun took a  deep breath. His face became serious.

“But you know that this can’t go on, right?” Said Jonghyun

“I know…But as I said, I still have it in control” said Minho

“Make sure it doesn’t go out of control.” said Jonghyun

“Yes…I know.” Said Minho

Through the days after Sulli was introduced to the society, the awkwardness between Sulli and Minho subsided. Nowadays, they just talk like before as if that accidental kiss did not happen.

Sulli saw Minho out of her house waiting for her.

“Hey…what are you doing here?” asked Sulli

“It’s Jonghyun’s birthday today. Hara prepared a something for him. She asked me to fetch you.” Said Minho

“Oh really? She organized by herself? She should’ve asked for our help.” Said Sulli

“When it comes to Jonghyun, Hara normally prepares everything by herself.” Said Minho

“Oh…really? Ok…Can you wait for me? I’ll just change my clothes.” Said Sulli

Sulli is unfamiliar with the place.

“Is it still far?” asked Sulli

“That’s another version of ‘Are we there yet?’” said Minho chuckling

“Do you know what Hara prepared?” asked Sulli

“Hmm…no idea. I just know where to go. But I don’t know what she has in mind.” Said Minho

“Hara…she’s closest to Jonghyun.” Said Sulli

“Yes, And among the girls, Jonghyun is also closest to Hara. They live in the same neighborhood.” Said Minho

“Oh…that's can be why.” Said Sulli

They entered an open old gate.

“What place is this?” asked Sulli

“Oh, this is the first place Krystal and I met when we were kids. Then this is where we brought Jonghyun and Hara after. And then Suzy got lost here and became one with us.” Said Minho

Oh….so this was the playground Jonghyun told her about?

Inside the gate is like a garden, full of flowers. Minho held Sulli’s arm.

“The ground is rocky. You might fall. “ said Minho

Sulli has to focus. Minho has no other intention but be nice to her. And he's nice to all WW club members. She needs to unconsciously think that it may mean something else.

They arrived deeper into the garden and then saw trees and a field. By the tree she can see Hara, Krystal and Suzy preparing a picnic.

“Ah…so it’s a picnic.” Said Sulli

“Yeah, we sometimes do this.” Said Minho

Sulli sat on the blanket and helped with the preparations. Minho set up the barbeque stand.

Just then Jonghyun arrived. They all sang a happy birthday song.

“Wow…You shouldn’t have bothered…But thank you so much. I am going to assume Hara prepared everything?” asked Jonghyun

“Of course!” said Hara
