Painting A Wolf

When the Sun Goes Down

Second chapter! YAY!
This is nightstar01's character, Song Yuri! :D

I wrote this in an hour/half hour, so my apologies if it's not entertaining or good. >.<

I was just in a writing mood. :3

Yuri was in her zone. She was painting a natural landscape on her canvas. The painting was of a huge evergreen forest, much like the one she camped in when she was six. There was a clearing in the center, and the sides of the canvas were overgrown with huge dark green trees. She had decided to paint the sky a bright pinkish-orange, as if the sun was setting out of view.

She was proud of her work. It took her a good three days, just to finish the trees and even longer to do the sky just the way she wanted it. She didn’t mind. The painting looked absolutely stunning.

She waited for the paint to dry before she was going to do any more detailing. While she was waiting, she decided to make herself some dumplings. She ate cheerfully and also decided to make some dessert.

“Yay~ Chocolate ice cream!” She chirped to herself as she fixed herself a bowl. When she was done eating, and put away her dishes, she looked at the painting. It still wasn’t dry.

Yuri pouted. What else could she do while she waited? She thought for a little bit, sprawled out on her couch. She flipped and flopped all over her couch, cutely pouting the whole time. She also started playing with her hair. Yuri was starting to get bored of thinking of something to do.

Finally, she knew what to do. She’ll go for a jog. She grinned and ran to get ready. She was out the door in minutes.

She was enjoying herself on her jog. She decided to do a short one, two blocks and once around the high school jogging track. She was listening to her music, blocking out the metropolitan noises. She didn’t hear someone calling her name

A hand grabbed her shoulder. She yelled out and shot away from the hand instantly. She stopped moving and looked at the person.

“Sorry, Yuri.” Thunder bowed apologetically. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

“That’s alright, oppa.” She told him. She caught her breath before she started jogging again. Thunder was keeping in time with her. It looked as if he was in the middle of a jog too.

“So, how was your night?” He asked.

“It was great! I’m almost done my painting!” She exclaimed.

“The one you promised to show me?” He asked. Yuri nodded childishly.

“Yup!”

“Cool. Anything else?” He said.

“Nope, not really. I got a call from Junwoon oppa.” She told him.

“Ah. He’s your older brother, right?” Thunder asked. Yuri nodded.

“Yup, and I haven’t heard from him in a while. So it was really nice talking to him.” She explained.

“That’s good. I haven’t talked to my noona in a while. She’s busy with her singing.” He said with a slightly sad voice.

“Aw~ It’s okay, oppa!” Yuri said cheerfully. “You’ll see her eventually!”

“You’re right I will.” He smiled.

“So how was your night?” She asked. His smile grew bigger.

“Not telling.”

“Whatever! I told you about my night and now you’re not going to share!” Yuri exclaimed with an aegyo pout. “That’s not nice!”

“You wouldn’t want to know about what I do during the night.” He said with a small hint of mystery. Yuri mehronged him.

“I do! And you’re not telling me!” She said. “So you’re no fun!” She had a playful smile on. She couldn’t help it. Thunder was teasing her, so it made sense to back.

“Fine. You want no fun; I’ll give you no fun.” He smirked and started jogging faster. Yuri went faster too, but she already passed the high school. Oh well, she’ll just do a different route. Eventually, they tired each other out. They rested on a bench outside a pawn shop.

“Was that fun, Yuri?” Thunder asked.

“Of course. It was a lot of exercise!” She exclaimed cutely. Thunder rolled his eyes.

“Optimist.” He muttered. Yuri grinned.

“Pessimist.” She countered.

“I am not a pessimist!” He defended himself. “I can look at the good things too!”

“Whatever.” She smiled and got up.

“And where do you think you’re going?” Thunder asked.

“I’m going back to my apartment. The paint should be dry by now.” She told him. “I might be able to show you it tomorrow!”

“Go then! Leave, it’s getting dark out anyways!” He yelled as she started to jog away. Yuri couldn’t help but blush on the way home. Thunder had a weird way of being protective. But she loved it anyways. It was as if she was being spoiled… but not spoiled at the same time. She giggled once she reached her door.

What a weird thought. Being spoiled without really being spoiled. She grabbed her keys and unlocked her door.

She got into her comfy clothes before looking back at the painting. She felt as if something was missing. But she couldn’t place it. She stared at the painting for a really long time. Silver, Yuri’s Siberian husky, laid her head in Yuri’s lap. She absent-mindedly started petting her dog, analyzing the picture.

Finally, she knew what she wanted on it. She cleaned off her palette, as she needed new colours. She started putting different colours of paints on the palette. Yuri got straight to work. Again, she was in her zone.

She spent most of the night painting. She really wanted it to get done before the next day. She lost track of time. When she was done, the moon was high in the sky and the traffic outside was much quieter. But she was so proud of it.

In the centre of the painting, in the clearing, she painted Thunder, just as she had seen him from before. Beside Thunder, was a light brown wolf. It was much bigger than normal wolves; she didn’t know why she had made it so big. But it felt right the way she painted it. The wolf and Thunder were staring at the sky, as if in awe that the sun was setting.

Despite it being such a normal looking picture, Yuri felt a supernatural vibe from it. She couldn’t place her finger on it. However, her pride took over, as it was one of her best paintings. She couldn’t help but to admire it.

She painted Thunder so well too. And the wolf. They looked so alike… even though one was a man and one was a wolf. It was one of those times when you couldn’t help but compare one thing to another.

She wondered what Thunder would think of it. Hopefully, he’ll like it. Maybe he’ll like the fact that he was in the painting. Of course he will.

She fell asleep with good thoughts and sweet dreams. Of none other than Park Sang Hyun.

*Squee* I'm loving this so far. All of the chapters are great! You really did a good job capturing my character's personality too. The situation with Onew and Joon getting jealous is something I could totally picture happening. =.= Men and their need to dominate things, geez. Can't wait for the next update. ^^
