"Maybe we should take her to the hospital," a familiar voice voiced its concern, "she has been out for an hour now."

"There is nothing to worry, sir. She just had a bit of a shock, that's all. I will make sure she's fine." An emotionless but foreign voice replied.

"I will trust you with her then. But if anything goes wrong with my baby daughter, you know the consequences." The first man seemed to be threatening the second male but his chuckle at the end of the sentence told otherwise.

At the words "baby daughter", Joohyun knew instantly that the voice belonged to her appa. She wanted desperately to open her eyes but she couldn't, as if she were stuck in a bad dream.

Despite the joke, the stranger remained serious, not that Joohyun could judge without seeing his facial expression but his tone had been cool. "Trust me, sir, I will fulfill my obligations as the contract states."

"Loosen up a bit, Changmin. You can always call me ahjussi as long as you are willing." The old man let out a laugh once again but there was no response from the other man.

After feeling a pair of lips feathering her forehead, Joohyun heard footsteps that soon faded out. With much forced effort, her eyes flew wide open and started crying "Appa! Appa!" while attempting to jump out of the bed she had been on. Before she could go any further, a strong arm grabbed her lanky ones and held her back.

"Let go of me!!" she yelled, flinging her arms to get rid of the heavy grip, yet failed. She turned her head, ready to throw all the obscene words, which she had learnt in the states but never used, at the intruder. However, as soon as her eyes met his cold and dark ones, her lips could form no words and she stopped struggling. 

Shim Changmin expected the girl before him to faint all over again like all the girls before her, whom he had served, did. After all, to be frank, he knew it was his looks that ultimately brought him to the success he now enjoyed. But instead of dropping into a coma as he predicted, the word she uttered was "You!" .

He raised an eyebrow at her. Does she know me from my past, he wondered. The thought made him slightly nervous. No one knew his exact background, except close friends and his mentor, and if any of that was let out to the public, it would affect his career terribly. So, unknowingly, his clutch on her thin arm tightened.

"You were the one who held me when I fell at the airport. Kamsahamnida." Joohyun unexpectedly said and attempted a full bow despite the grasp on her shoulder. 

The act shocked even the emotionless Changmin and he losened his clasp almost immediately. For a second, he regretted having been a little bit too rough to her.

"It is only my duty to protect you and look after your needs, Ms. Seohyun.  Butler Shim, at your service." He greeted the girl with a light bow, one hand on his chest and the other behind his back, like a traditional gentleman would.

"Seohyun? Butler?" Joohyun repeated his words. "Why are you calling me Seohyun when I my name is in Seo Joo Hyun? As much as I appreciate your rescue, why on earth would I need a what...errr...butler when I have taken perfect care of myself for the last 9 years?" 

Too much questions, he thought. Yet, his face plastered on a smile like a professional butler would, while his voice remained cool,

"As you well know, your duties as a socialite starts today and for that, you will need a name that is unique to make yourself unforgettable. Joohyun is far too much a common name to make you stand out among all the socialites out there. Moreover, 'Seohyun' has a less intimate touch to it than 'Joohyun'. After all, you are not entering the Seoul upper class circle to make friends. It is better to keep things as distant as possible with the others in case they have bad intentions."

He paused there, allowing Joohyun time to absorb his information. Seeing that her lips were beginning to part to probably ask yet another question, he continued before she could speak.

"As for me being your butler, it was Mr. Seo's wish all along. So, it is not my place to answer that question. However, I will tell you that my role is not only to babysit you, but train and educate you on becoming the perfect lady. If you have nothing more to ask from me, I will retreat and let you rest." 

Before Joohyun could object, he bowed once more and left. To her surprise, he had entered her parlor instead of leaving through the door.

"Where do you think you're going? I know my room enough to know that the door is that way and not this way." She yelled after him, pointing at the correct exit. She had not felt the need to be polite, with him being so cold and unapproachable.

"Yes, Ms. Seohyun. But my quarters are in fact inside so just call me when you need my service," he answered with a gentle smile that was almost believable if not for his serious tone. 

"Wae? I need some privacy and I don't think I'll get any, knowing you're in there. Not to mention men and women are not to stay in the same room without supervision according to the Chinese saying." Joohyun argued with eyes wide with surprise and horror.

Changmin inwardly smirked at her traditional ideas but his face did not show his amusement. 

"As another saying goes: Out of sight, out of mind. Ms. Seohyun, I promise you'll not notice my presence." At that, he gave her a small wink and proceeded to his room.

The wink had not the effect on Joohyun as Changmin expected. Many a girl would fall for that gesture but it only fed Joohyun's anger.

"If he really is my butler, he should at least act polite in front of me!" She fumed, mumbling to herself. "I have been civil with him, why can't he do the same? And that wink! Was he trying to challenge me or something? Why would appa hire someone like that? I wonder how he ever managed to past the butler test with that attitude."

Throwing herself onto the bed, she allowed time for her to clear her mind off any angry thoughts and stress before falling asleep. After all, the long flight and that butler had tired her so. She would have to regain her energy to confront her father later that evening.

Author's note: Here is my second update! Hope you are all enjoying the story so far! So Seohyun finally meets Changmin and their first impression of each other is not that ideal LOL What are your thoughts on this? I would love to hear from you all :)
