Sungjong
Lost and Found/고독"Hey Sungjong," said L shaking him, "Did you hear what happened at the hospital?"
"What?"
"A 15 year old was murdered in the hospital you were working in, right?"
"That's too bad."
"Wasn't that your stepsister?"
"Yeah, but she's gone for good." said Sungjong, smiling.
Again, L sat there stunned, unable to react to this.
"Anyways, my mom said that it is alright, and I can let you inform me or her anytime when the time comes."
"Ok." agreed Sungjong.
That night, Sungjong stayed up. He overheard his stepparents planning for Sunhee's funeral, when the stepfather went to bed.
But the stepmother feeling uneasy herself stayed up in the kitchen for a very long time.
He went over to the kitchen, where he saw his mother reaching for the counter and taking some pills, before she decided to get herself some water.
She was reaching for the glass when Sungjong interrupted.
"I love you Mommy." he said in a high-pitched, child-like voice.
The stepmother dropped her glass in shock, shattering it into pieces.
"Don't call me "mommy", you little......"
She turned around to see Sungjong. As much as she hated to admit it, she stared to feel a wave of guilt flooding over her.
"Oh," she said dryly, "I love you too, Sungjong."
She was about to walk out of the kitchen when forgetting the glass pieces, she stepped on one. She screamed in pain as the glass pierced her foot. She stood on one foot and tried to get the glass out of her foot, but she slipped and tripped as she fell backwards onto the floor. Unfortunately for her there were more glass pieces standing up; they stabbed various parts of her body too, cutting her as she started losing a lot of blood.
Sungjong grinned and smiled. Carefully, he went over to her scene. He put a finger under her nose. She was still breathing.
Without furtherado he went to Sunhee's room and brought out a long skipping rope, and made a noose for her, tying it around her neck. She struggled and choked before him, but the more she struggled the tighter he tied the rope around her neck. Before she knew it, she was dead from strangulation of the rope.
He dragged her lifeless light body and attached the other end of the rope to a hook on the ceiling. He tied it there so that her dead body stood there, dangling.
The next morning, the stepfather and his younger stepbrother Jeongmin woke up screaming hysterically.
"Mommy!" wept the ten year old.
"Dear!" cried the stepfather.
Sungjong smirked at them. They seriously need to get over it and grow up, he thought. How petty and comical, a ten year old and a fifty-nine year old crying like a little baby. How amusing. Do they seriously know that it's no use crying over spilled milk?
"Who could have done this?!" the stepfather shrieked as he mourned at the same time.
"She killed herself." said Sungjong from behind in a deep voice.
"What?!"
"I said she killed herself. She stabbed herself with glass and hung herself with a skipping rope."
"You liar!" screamed Jeongmin as he hit Sungjong in the stomach. But Sungjong only stood his ground.
At this point the stepfather really did not know how to react, he only punched him in the face.
"Get out! Get out of my sight!" he screamed. "We're organizing a funeral for two more and that's it!"
Jeongmin stuck out his tongue at him, but Sungjong did not care.
"Don't worry," Sungjong whispered to his little stepbrother, "I'll take good care of you."
