“Ah mom! Don’t throw that away! I’m still eating it!”

“Baekhyun, this bag of chips was left out in the open for more than a week now. It’s disgusting! I’m throwing it out.”

Baekhyun grabbed onto the bag of chips and stuffed them into his mouth, leaving no crumbs behind.

“Baekhyun!” shouted his mom as she ripped the now empty bag, out of his hands.

Every day was a pain for Baekhyun’s mom. She always had to clean up his room after he brought snacks up to his room…which was every day. Baekhyun was larger than most of the boys his age. Since little, he had always been in love with food. Food satisfied him; it made him happy. But because of his weight, not many people wanted to befriend him…except for that one weird kid that was in his grade, Zhang Yixing. Yixing was weird in many ways. He was ALWAYS spacing out and ALWAYS forgetting his things. Sometimes he would stare at people for long periods of time, doing nothing, but stare. It made the people around him start avoiding him because of his oddness, but since Baekhyun was the more friendly type that didn’t care much, he became Yixing’s one and only friend. The two were in their second year of high school now. They had been friends since middle school and had been close ever since. Yixing wasn’t actually as weird as he seemed though. He was kind, friendly, and normal like the others except for his staring.

“Baekhyun, stop eating.” Yixing mumbled, as he stood behind Baekhyun’s mom.

He gave Baekhyun’s mom a fright and made her stumble back, “Ah, Yixing, you’re here. Um, I’ll go get you guys some healthier snacks.”

Like the others, Baekhyun’s mom also found Yixing weird.

“Yixing, my mom was trying to make me go on a diet again!” Baekhyun said, pouting.

“You should go on a diet…you’re fat.” said Yixing, using a monotone voice.

Baekhyun liked how Yixing was always straight forward and honest, but sometimes he was too straight forward and honest.

“Yixing, that’s so mean of you to say.”

“I know.” he mumbled.

Baekhyun’s mom came back up with some apple slices and put it onto the table in Baekhyun’s room. She quickly exited the room after placing it down, leaving the two boys alone again.

“Oh that reminds me…you have an interview for that fast food restaurant tomorrow right?”

“Yeah I do! If I get the job, I’ll be able to get free meals everyday!” said Baekhyun, moving around excitedly in his seat.

“You have a suit that fits you right? I’m sure you gained another 10 pounds today.” Yixing asked, making Baekhyun worry.

“I don’t know…I might have gained a little more weight…but it’s fine! I still have that extra extra extra large dress shirt that you bought for my birthday. I know it fits.”

“Well, good luck.”

The next morning came by and it was 20 minutes before Baekhyun’s interview. He stood outside of the restaurant’s office with the other people that were also waiting to be interviewed. Sweat started forming on his forehead and in his palms. They were so sweaty he felt like he was going to flood the place.

“Alright, next is Byun Baekhyun. Is there a Byun Baekhyun here?” said the interviewer, stepping out of his office.

Baekhyun raised his hand and stood up, bowing to the interviewer, “Yes, I am Byun Baekhyun.”

The interviewer motioned him to come inside and let him have a seat.

“So, your resumé looks good…” said the interviewer.

He started asking Baekhyun questions, complimenting him on the way. Soon after 12 minutes passed, the interview was over.

“Well, you are the best candidate for this position so far. I think our restaurant would love to have you work here. You are hired.”

Baekhyun was ecstatic. He had just got the job he wanted for a long time and it was right after his interview too.

“If you have time, you can start looking around the restaurant to familiarize yourself with it for when you start working. You’ll be working as a cashier on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with Kim Jongin. He’ll be able to guide you along the way since he’s been working here for a year already. Here, let me show you to him.”

Baekhyun followed the interviewer up to the front where the cashiers were. He led him beside one worker and caught his attention.

“Kim Jongin, this is Byun Baekhyun. He will be starting work next Friday.”

Baekhyun bowed to him, “Hello, my name is Byun Baekhyun. Please take care of me.”

Jongin nodded and continued to take orders from the customers. Baekhyun’s eyes ran up and down Jongin’s body. He was muscular, skinny, tall, and good looking. He was the perfect guy in his eyes. After staring Jongin down, he looked at his own body. There was flab everywhere and he was short to add to that. He didn’t think of himself as good looking either. To him, he was those people that were in the background while Jongin would be the main character. After his tour around the restaurant he went back home and looked in the mirror first thing.

“I might not be as good looking as Jongin but I’m sure I have a waaaaay better personality than him!”
