Ineffable

Just My Luck

The first rays of sunrise started slipping through the curtained windows of Tiffany’s room. The slowly-appearing clarity was enough to wake her up, though. Instinctively, her hand divagated towards the right side of her bed; Yuri’s side of the bed. Her brows furrowed when she didn’t find who she was looking for, instead, her hand only met the slightly warm bed sheets Yuri used to cover herself with the night before. Tiffany couldn’t help but whine slightly as she reluctantly opened her eyes; much to her dismay, there was no trace of Yuri in the room. Her sleep-weary eyes took a few minutes to get used to the clarity of that early morning, as she slightly cursed the summer season for having such bright sunrises. Wondering where her girlfriend was, she finally sat up on her bed and stirred.

“Yuri?” She called through a yawn, obtaining no response whatsoever. The redhead whined again and pouted unconsciously. Lazily, she got up from her bed, straightening up her nightgown, and slowly made her way out of her room. It felt weird for her to wake up and not find Yuri there, especially since every time the tanned girl would spend the night at her apartment, they’d wake up together and stay a good couple of hours in bed, cuddling and talking about everything and nothing. As she reached the kitchen, she couldn’t help but smile goofily at the sight. There, wearing an apron over her tank top and shorts, stood Yuri, humming a slow tune as she cooked. She looked so concentrated in her task at hand that she didn’t acknowledge Tiffany’s presence at all. Tiffany skipped towards her silently, wrapping her arms around Yuri’s waist from behind. The corners of Yuri’s mouth were tugged upwards in an ample smile as her stomach was filled with butterflies.

“What are you doing, Yul?” Tiffany purred against Yuri’s back. The latter blushed even harder at the sound of Tiffany’s husky voice, which was still hoarse from sleep. She freed one of her hands and placed in on Tiffany’s that rested on top of her stomach. She loved it when Tiffany acted so affectionate with her; it made her feel so special and loved that there were no words to describe it.

“I’m just cooking our breakfast…” Yuri whispered, looking at Tiffany over her own shoulder briefly. Tiffany’s hands began rubbing her stomach in a slow and slightly sensuous caress. Now, it was really hard to concentrate on the food she was making. Tiffany hummed almost inaudibly in response.

“I can see that… Can I know what the special occasion is?” The Korean-American girl asked with a giggle. “It smells really good, by the way…” Tiffany complimented. Yuri did a mental fist-pump as her ego swelled.

“There’s no special occasion. Can’t I surprise my girlfriend with breakfast?” She asked nonchalantly as a small pout plowed her full lips. “In fact, I was hoping to finish this before you woke up so you could have breakfast in bed, but you decided to wake up early on a Saturday for once in your life.” Yuri chuckled as she felt Tiffany hitting her stomach softly.

“It’s not my fault that you’re such a slowpoke when it comes to cooking, my Kkab Yul.” Tiffany teased back as she broke the embrace, eliciting a sigh from both of them at the loss of contact. “I could just go back to bed and pretend to be asleep, you know?”

“I appreciate you calling me a slowpoke, Fany-ah, but I get the feeling you’ll regret your words when you try the results of my amazing cooking…” Yuri muttered, turning towards where Tiffany stood briefly and giving her a charming smile. Tiffany had the urge to just stay there and watch Yuri cook; the view was just glorious since the tanned girl looked radiant and unbelievably adorable.

“I hope so… I’ll wait for you in my bed!” Tiffany was about to turn around and leave when she realized how naughty her words had sounded. She stood rooted in her place and began blushing profusely. The younger girl turned towards her, with the same blush coloring her cheeks.

“… Sure… Wait for me on your bed…” Yuri gave her a wink before she turned back to her cooking. Tiffany became redder, even if Yuri’s words made her embarrassment turn into giddiness. She rapidly made her way to her bedroom, adjusting the door after herself. She lied on her bed and stared at the ceiling. Her heart felt contented and aglow, and it was all because of Yuri. She’d never be able to express how much the black pearl meant to her… It was just ineffable. She had learned so much of herself by being with Yuri; the latter had helped her become the realized young lady she was now, and she was sure she had done the same for Yuri. Before she met her, she felt almost invisible, even when she was surrounded by people that loved her dearly, she felt like no one could really see what lied beneath her eye-smile or her beamy personality… And up until now, no one else is really able to see right through her the way Yuri does. Sometimes that’s what she needed to get through the day; someone who’d look her in the eye and notice that something wasn’t right or that there was something going on with her when all she’d say was ‘I’m okay’. She snapped out of her lovey-dovey thoughts when her bedroom door burst open. She grinned automatically upon seeing Yuri there, holding a tray with food.

“You were supposed to pretend to be asleep.” Yuri pouted as she sat on the edge of the bed. Tiffany sat up with her back against the headboard of the bed as she gave Yuri her infamous eye-smile and a shrug of her shoulders.

“I forgot…” Because I was too busy thinking about you and how much I love you, Tiffany added in her thoughts. “Now, what have you got there?”

“Just traditional stuff… Some galbi, spicy seafood salad, seasoned kelp and radish strip kimchi… Not too much variety, but those are the only dishes I know how to do correctly…” Yuri excused herself with a grimace. Tiffany shook her head as she cupped the tanned girl’s cheek and leaned in to give her chaste kiss that made Yuri perk up automatically.

“That’s more than okay, Yul. Shall I start eating, then?” Tiffany asked. Truth be told, watered at the smell of Yuri’s food. The latter nodded her head and watched expectantly as her girlfriend began with the kimchi. Tiffany hummed as its magnificent flavor filled her taste buds. “This is so good, Yuri!” She exclaimed before she continued eating. Yuri stuck out her chest proudly as she began eating her own breakfast.

“I actually got this idea from Yoona… I asked her how could I prepare you for a really nice surprise and she suggested that I surprise you with breakfast in bed… And I figured out she was right since you always commend her for giving maknae breakfast in bed…” Yuri trailed off as her heart began hammering against her chest. The two were almost done with their breakfast. Tiffany tilted her head to the side.

“Well, every girl likes breakfast in bed once in a while… Special occasion? What do you mean?” The redhead asked with a furrow of her perfectly-sculpted eyebrows.

“Oh, just something…” Yuri said with a small smile to cover up for her nervousness and leaving Tiffany further confused. “… You’ve got something near your lip…” Yuri lied, seemingly casual, as she pointed at some random spot on Tiffany’s face.

“Oh! Let me get that…” Tiffany said as she grabbed a napkin Yuri brought her with her breakfast and wiped the spot with it, missing what Yuri was trying to get her to see. “Did I get it off?” Yuri sighed deeply as her smile widened a bit.

“I think so. Why don’t you look at your napkin?” Tiffany immediately did as she was told, and her heart stopped when she did. Written on the napkin, with black and pink permanent markers, Yuri’s clean handwriting read ‘Would you marry me?’

Tiffany looked up at Yuri, whose shoulders were visibly shaking with nervousness. The black pearl gave her a small, yet tender and caring smile that let Tiffany know just how much that moment meant to her. The two of them had the same lump in their throats as they waited for each other to say something, anything… The silence was just becoming too heavy.

“So…”

“So…”

The two giggled as their words came out simultaneously. Tiffany, totally unable to say a word, nodded towards Yuri, silently asking her to speak up her mind.

“Sorry I didn’t make this a turgid proposal or anything like that… It’s just that I wanted this moment to remain between the two of us in case you’ll say ‘no’.” Yuri’s voice broke a little, but she managed to push her words past the enormous lump in . “I know it might be too soon, but we’ve been through so much together, and you’re undoubtedly my most favorite person in the world… I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I was hoping you’d want that too.” Yuri finished in a small voice, looking deeply into Tiffany’s eyes, which were b with tears. She pulled a small box out of her pocket, showing Tiffany the 3-carat diamond ring she had bought for her. The Korean-American girl lunged forward and engulfed Yuri into a tight hug. Before Yuri could even respond, Tiffany leaned in and gave her a full, passionate kiss. Tiffany, who never rushed into their kisses, was the one who deepened it, Yuri’s bottom lip. The younger girl was left with no other choice but to open , welcoming Tiffany and her intoxicating taste. After a few seconds, Yuri pulled away and rested her forehead against the redhead’s, panting against her lips. “Does that mean you say yes?”

“Of course, Yuri! Aigo, how could I ever say no? There’s no one else in the planet that I’d rather spend the rest of my life with… I love you so much…” Tiffany whispered tearfully before Yuri began giving her lips lingering pecks. The two couldn’t feel happier and more relieved; their blissfulness right then and there was just ineffable. Yuri slipped the ring into Tiffany’s finger as the biggest smile settled on her features.

“Even after this failure of a proposal?” Yuri asked jokingly as a few tears of happiness rolled down her cheeks. Her hands went to Tiffany’s face, holding it tenderly as she caressed her porcelain cheeks.

“Yes… And I don’t think this was a ‘failure’… In fact, now we can celebrate our engagement… just the two of us…” Tiffany winked at Yuri, who gulped before smiling mischievously. She removed the tray of food from Tiffany’s lap and placed it on the nightstand before she leaned forward, using her body to get Tiffany to lie down on the bed as she hovered above her.

“Celebrate our engagement? I wonder how…” Yuri whispered as she lowered herself on Tiffany, making their bodies press against each other. She couldn’t help but smirk when a gasp escaped Tiffany’s lips at their closeness.

“I think you know how…” Tiffany surprised the younger girl by wrapping her legs around her waist. This time, it was Yuri who gasped, as she concluded that her desire for her now fiancé couldn’t be held inside any longer. She gave Tiffany a loving smile before she leaned down and captured her lips passionately.

Meanwhile.

Seohyun woke up to find Yoona was still sleeping next to her. Three days had passed since the doe-eyed girl came back from her hometown visit, and although there hadn’t been major predicaments, Seohyun could still sense something was off in Yoona. Since she had Yoona’s back to her, she wrapped her arms around the older girl’s waist from behind and rested her head on her back, breathing her in. She mentally scolded herself when she felt Yoona started to move, clearly awoken. She turned around in Seohyun’s arms, yawning and wrapping her own arms around the maknae, who gladly welcomed the embrace.

“Why are you up so early, Seobaby?” Yoona asked groggily as she began playing with Seohyun’s hair.

“It’s always ‘so early’ for you, Yoona.” Seohyun giggled. “It’s almost 10:00 o’ clock, and I have to leave in less than an hour.” She heard the older girl groaning, which consequently made her continue giggling.

“It’s a Saturday…” Yoona said as a matter of fact. “No one should have to get up early on a Saturday.”

“Too bad. I have to get ready for my meeting with my future counselor at the University and he agreed to see me today so we didn’t have to wait for next week.” Seohyun explained as she sat up on the bed. Truth be told, she was feeling almost as lazy as Yoona, but her excitement about finally pursuing a music degree was enough to beat that laziness. The doe-eyed girl sat up as well, her brows furrowed in confusion.

“So it is today? Why didn’t you tell me?” She asked in a slightly recriminating tone. Seohyun sighed and gave her a look.

“I did tell you, but you didn’t listen.” The older girl tilted her head to the side as she reached thoughts backwards to any possible school-related conversation she might have had with Seohyun. “Yesterday, when we were at Taeyeon-unnie’s place…” Seohyun finished.

“Right! I remember now…” Yoona whispered sheepishly, averting her eyes. Seohyun looked at her sternly as she sighed again.

“You’re even more distracted than usual lately. Can I know what’s wrong with you?” She asked, slightly aggravated.

“Nothing, Seobaby…” Yoona assured defensively. She gave Seohyun a reassuring smile, but it didn’t lessen the maknae’s stern look on her.

“Then why are you acting like this?” She asked, begging with her eyes. Her consternated look made Yoona’s heart churn with guilt. “Did something happen while you were gone…?”

“No! It’s nothing, really. Believe me…” She cut her off softly, before cupping her face tenderly. “I really am okay. I’ve just been swamped with tests, work and all that… I really don’t want us to argue about my attention deficit disorder…” She finished jokingly, enjoying how a small smile soon took over Seohyun’s stunning features. Yoona pecked her cheek to finish getting her point across.

“I’ll believe you… But I want you to know that if anything happens, I’m here for you and I want to be a source of support for you.” Seohyun whispered, looking deep into Yoona’s dark eyes. “You can trust me… just like you have before…”

“I know, baby.” Yoona smiled warmly, pecking Seohyun’s cheek once again. She smiled mischievously, making the younger girl furrow her brows.

“… What’s with the stare, Yoongie?” She asked. Yoona didn’t respond; instead, she grabbed Seohyun’s waist and tackled her with a hug.

“You’re not mad at me anymore, right?” She asked with a smile as she ran her hands up and down Seohyun’s sides. The latter tried (emphasize the word ‘tried’) to stay mad.

“I don’t like it when you don’t pay attention to the things I say…” She muttered. Yoona leaned down, her face inches away from Seohyun’s.

“I know you can’t just stay mad at me like that, Hyunnie…” Seohyun was about to continue pretending to be mad when Yoona’s hands began tickling her sides frantically. Since the poor maknae was as ticklish as she could be, she began laughing and thrashing around, but Yoona’s hold on her was too strong.

“Y-Yoona! St-stop, please!” She yelled in-between loud laughter as she tried to pry Yoona’s hands away from her torso. Yoona finally desisted on her tickling attack as she began to feel tired of trying to hold Seohyun down to the mattress and dodging her kicks. The two were laughing hysterically; their previous tension was long forgotten. Yoona looked down at Seohyun, giving her a sweet alligator smile, as she removed a strand of Seohyun’s hair that had stuck to her forehead in-between her tickling and tucked it behind the younger girl’s ear.

“Go get ready.” Seohyun nodded, still lightheaded for the moment she had just shared with her beloved deer. Seohyun got up from the bed and went to her large bathroom, getting ready for her day. Her excitement rebuilt as she showered and put on her clothes. That same excitement also made her aim to look her best, with a white, short sleeved white blouse, a beige skirt that reached her knees and matching beige heels. After putting on some light make-up and deciding she looked good and professional enough, she came out of the bathroom. She found Yoona playing on her newly acquired Samsung Galaxy SIII, without a care for the world. Seohyun cleared , successfully getting the deer’s attention.

“Do I look good, Yoongie?” She asked, giving a small twirl for Yoona to appreciate her even from the back. The latter was staring at her with a blank expression on her face. Then, she began chuckling lowly. “Yoona! I’m serious!” Seohyun scolded, crossing her arms as she got annoyed by thinking Yoona was making fun of her. The older girl got up from the bed and walked to Seohyun, wrapping her arms around her waist. By the adorable look Yoona was giving her, Seohyun felt tempted to give in, but she was too mad to do so.

“You ask such silly questions, Hyunnie.” Yoona said, still giggling softly, before giving Seohyun a chaste, yet lingering kiss. “Of course you look good. You always do.” That did it for her. Seohyun couldn’t help herself as she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s neck and pulled her into a much more passionate kiss. Yoona smiled into it, satisfied by her work, as one of her hands left Seohyun’s waist to tangle in her silky hair as she kissed her angel back, tasting her signature cherry chapstick.

“I’m good to go now.” Seohyun whispered as she pulled away, blushing slightly at how forward she had been with that kiss.

“Good luck, but I’m sure it’ll go well. I love you.” Yoona whispered before giving Seohyun’s lips one last kiss.

“Thank you. I love you too, Yoongie.” Seohyun slowly removed her arms from around Yoona’s neck and vacated the room. There was a smile plastered on her face, and it seemed like it would stay like that for the rest of the day.

Moments like this sometimes made her believe that there was nothing bothering Yoona, but as she thought back on how defensive and secretive Yoona got whenever she asked her about her trip to Damyang, or how distracted and preoccupied she seemed sometimes, Seohyun had no other choice but to conclude that something was definitely going on, and if Yoona didn’t want to tell her about it, she’d figure it out somehow.

Chapter 22: Omg!! And all that happened when it started as a little game XD
Seriously this is one of the best s I had ever read. It was hot and y (a lot) but it wasn't vulgar (something that isn't common, you found a balance)
I've been reading the story in less than a day and it took me this little time to fall for the story
I'm not that found of drama but this is like my only exception.
Thumbs up !! Because it really it's and amazing story and I'm sad because I didn't find this fic sooner :(
You're a great writer !!

Btw I was laughting non-stop when Yoona's mom told them that they were walking funny if only she knew °^°
