Invitation
Torn
" Damn..." I muttered under my breath, checking my watch for the hundredth time.
I had gotten to the bus stop about a minute after the bus was scheduled to come. Unfortunately, busses can either be late or early, but unless I waited around for another couple minutes I wouldn't know if it was late. To make it worse, if I didn't start walking to the other bus's stop, I would never make it to Kyungsoo's house on time.
With a sigh I resigned to pacing for another minute before deciding to just give in and walk to the next bus. I plugged in my headphones and turned up my music, content with walking to the quick pace of the SNSD song I was listening to.
The weather and I seemed to be on similar, indecisive, terms today. It was misty; not quite raining, but not dry either. Despite being some four degrees or so out, it felt like it was below zero and my body was craving the warm interior of a bus.
' This would be a great time for someone I knew, who happened to be going in the same direction, to drive by and offer me a ride...'
A shiver ran down my spine and I closed my eyes to block the gust of wind that suddenly blew into my eyes. My hair ruffled and mist coated me even more thoroughly then it already had. I tried to wipe my hair dry, but soon concluded that it was pointless and gave up.
Sighing slightly, I pushed the hair out of my face and kept walking with my head down to the wind.
" Yah! Pabo! What are you doing 'round here?" I heard someone yell from beside me.
Turning my face to look, and pulling out the ear bud closest to them, I stopped walking to have a chat. Here was the problem: the person who had called out to me was Chanyeol... CHANYEOL!
" I.. umm.. live around here." I said, somehow not butchering the 'cool' act.
" Oh... right." he replied, sounding bored.
" Where are you heading?" asked a voice from beside him.
I turned my gaze to see a smiling Kris sitting behind the wheel of the SUV they were in. He was leaning forwards so that I could see him past Chanyeol.
" I was heading to the bus stop up the road... I'm meeting a friend in Coquitlam today." I replied, miraculously neither stuttering nor stumbling over my words.
" We can give you a ride to the station, if you want... We're all going up the the youth center to play basketball anyway." Kris offered.
" Oh, no, I'm fine. You guys enjoy your game though!" I said, the awkwardness finally seeping into my voice.
" Just get in! Really, its no trouble at all." he motioned to the door of the car, telling me to get in.
" If you insist..." I muttered, as I hopped into the car, finding myself sitting next to Luhan, " Thanks."
" Its cool! I like having new people in the car anyway." Luhan said cutely, nodding his head furiously.
I chuckled softly at how adorable he was, which didn't go unnoticed by the younger boy sitting next to him.
" I'm pretty lucky aren't I?" he asked, a sweet smile gracing his lips. His fingers were interlocked with Luhan's, and he placed a soft kiss on the older boy's cheek.
" Yes you are Sehun. Now stop being so gay, its making me sick." Chanyeol griped from the front seat.
" Thtop being thuch a homophobe!" Sehun objected.
" Thtop being thuch a homo!" Chanyeol replied, mimicking Sehun's lisp.
" Aigoo! Both of you stop! You're probably scaring our guest." Kris shushed everyone from the drivers seat.
I could feel my cheeks turn a little pink at his recognition of me being in the car. I had honestly assumed I would be like a statue or something, sat in a seat and completely ignored, but instead he was calling me a guest. A small smile also touched my lips at the thought, and my hair fell over my eyes.
" I need a camera..." Luhan said in an almost whisper, " He just looks so adorable."
" Agreed..." Sehun added, a soft chuckle leaving his lips when my eyes flicked up to him and Luhan watching me before returning to the ground.
" Okay, Baekhyun-ah, we're here." Kris announced.
" Thank you so much." I said formally, climbing out of the car and bowing before beginning to walk away.
" Pabo!" Chanyeol's deep voice shouted after me.
" Yes?" I answered.
" What are you doing on friday night?" he asked, calm and cool like he always was.
" Not anything that I know of." I replied, almost matching his energy.
" You wanna see a movie?" his question threw me majorly off guard. I had no idea, first of all, why he would want to see a movie with me, and second of all, how the hell I was supposed to answer.
" That depends on which movie it is..." I decided to play oblivious, and damn did it work.
" Uhhh... That's.. umm... u-up to you I uhh guess..." he stuttered, which, to be absolutely honest, what the most adorable thing to hear in that deep voice of his.
" I would love to go..." I said sweetly, a smile pulling at the corners of my mouth from his reaction.
With that I turned and left, heading directly for my bus, which had conveniently arrived just when I needed it to. I hopped on and sat in the very back by the window. Starting up my music again, I contemplated what the hell this 'date' with Chanyeol was, and started to plan a way to present it to Kyungsoo so that he wouldn't kill me for agreeing.
“ Omo! I haven’t seen you in ages!” Kyungsoo exclaimed as he opened the door.
He quickly pulled me into a hug and did that squealing and jumping thing girls do when they haven’t seen each other in a really long time. I chuckled at his embrace, and pried myself out of his suffocating arms.
“ Its good to see you too, umma. How’ve you been?” I asked.
“ Pretty good... You? Got a boyfriend yet?” his question caught me off guard a little, and made me think before I answered.
I had to say something that didn’t imply that I did, seeing as I didn’t, but also something so he wouldn’t pry and figure out about my upcoming date.
“ Don’t you think I would have told you if I had?” I remarked, “ C’mon, Kyunggie, have some faith!”
Thankfully, my faux disbelief distracted him from my bad acting skills and he didn’t ask any other questions.
“ Here,” he said taking my coat, “ and do you want anything to eat?”
“ That depends... What are you offering?” I asked wiggling my eyebrows, earning a chuckle from my mother-like friend.
“ Oh, only some homemade kimchi ramyun...” he answered, mimicking my acting.
“ YES PLEASE UMMA!” I yelled into the empty house, running into the kitchen.
