CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Funny How It Happens

Lucky for me, by the time that B.A.P had that break we were planning on, Hana had moved to Seoul, making it easier for me to get a dress at a cheap price.

                Free.

I walked into her apartment using the key she’d given me, setting HanMi down as I kicked off my shoes at the same time. I walked straight into her room, where she was working on her laptop, sitting on her bed. She looked up, a look of mild surprise on her face.

“What?” she asked, setting her laptop to the side and allowing HanMi to crawl into her lap. I ignored her and went directly to her closet, digging through her pile of clothes, determined to find a certain item in mind. “What, So?”

“I’m looking for something.” I grinned after a while, pulling out said clothing item, and pressed it against myself. “Can I borrow this for a couple days?”

She raised an eyebrow at me and gave me a suspicious look. “Why?”

I shrugged. “We’re going somewhere and I need a dress, because we’re doing something.”

She paused as if expecting me to elaborate more on that. “That’s a very vague answer.”

I waved her words away. “So it’s okay?”

                “Sure.”

I smiled at her. “Great. Oh, can you watch HanMi for the weekend? We can’t take her with us.” I went over to her jewelry box and began to dig through, searching for a necklace.

“Give me a more specific reason as to why I’m babysitting and I’ll do it.”

I turned to look at her. “Because you love me.”

She paused as if to think about it, and then shook her head with a frown. “Not specific enough.”

I sighed and walked over, sitting down on her bed beside her and looking her directly in the eyes. “YongGuk and I are going to Incheon for the weekend to visit his family.” Which was partly true, we were going to see them.

Just after one other thing. But Hana didn’t need to know that yet. Neither one of us wanted to make this a big deal, and telling Hana would be doing just that. She would find out the same time the guys would.

When we got back from Incheon.

Hana smirked, believing me. “You guys are getting pretty serious then, aren’t you?”

                She had no idea.

I simply smiled and turned away, deciding to let her come to whatever decision she wanted to.

“Sure, I’ll watch HanMi while you guys go drop the bombshell to his parents.” She said, placing her laptop back on her lap as HanMi leaves us to go wander around. She glanced up and smirked at my confused look. “He didn’t tell you? His parents don’t know about, um…” she nodded towards the direction that HanMi had just run off in. “I asked him about it and he looked like a deer in headlights. He said he wanted to wait until you were ready to tell them.” She shrugged. “I guess you’re ready?”

“I don’t think I have a choice now.” I said quietly. We had talked about announcing to his parents about getting married and I had just assumed that they would already now the majority of the reason being HanMi and all, because I had assumed they had already known about HanMi. Apparently, I had been wrong about that.

                Awesome.

Hana shrugged, going back to whatever she was working on. “His family will be ecstatic, don’t even worry about it.”

I let out a heavy sigh. “Well, we’ll see.” I gestured to the clothes. “I’ll bring it back as soon as we’re back in town.”

She nodded. “I know you will. But why are you trying to dress up for them now? They know you.”

I shrugged, not really giving her an answer. She gave me another suspicious look but I quickly made up an excuse to leave and grabbed HanMi on my way out the door, saying goodbye as I left.

Packing for this type of weekend took a lot of thought. Especially when you were trying not to give away what you were doing to five out of the six guys living with you.

I sat on my suitcase, attempting to zip it up, and getting nowhere. With a frustrated sigh, I called for the Jongup to come help me. I knew for a fact that he’d asks the few amount of questions, therefore I wouldn’t have to be as careful around him as I would around the others.

Not because Jongup didn’t care, just because Jongup knew the boundaries that none of the others had realized yet.

He came into the living room and smiled at the sight of me fighting the losing battle against the suitcase. “Hi noona.”

“Help me out here?” I asked, blowing a strand of hair out of my face as I looked up at him.

He nodded and knelt down, easily zipping up what I had been trying to do for the past ten or so minutes. I sat there and stared at the zipper for a while in disbelief.

“That’s not fair.” He only laughed and walked away.

After packing up the little bit of luggage we would need for the weekend and dropping HanMi off at Hana’s place, YongGuk and I started our drive to Incheon.

Now, car rides with YongGuk and I are never really predictable or normal. We’re usually fighting over the radio, singing at the top of our lungs, or it’s suddenly really quiet. It really just depends on our moods at the moment.

We were quiet for the majority of the car ride, probably because we were both so deep in thought.

I was wondering if this was such a good idea. I mean, I know a lot of people get cold feet the day before their wedding and whatever, but not everyone is in my position, right? I knew it was probably the “right” thing to do, owning up to our responsibilities as parents. But marriage suddenly seemed like such an extreme thing to do. But then again, the more I thought about it, the more I couldn’t help but get kind of excited about everything.

I glanced over at YongGuk, who was looking out the window with a distracted look on his face. I couldn’t help but smile a little bit.

This was the guy that I had been prepared to marry a long time ago. It didn’t fully hit me until now, but I had known as soon as I’d met him that I’d be willing to be called his wife. I’d be happy to be by his side for the rest of my life.

I loved him. No matter how scary that thought was.

Now I just wondered if he felt the same way.

We drove into Incheon and decided to not waste any time. We just wanted to get the wedding part over with. As soon as possible, that’s what we had decided. We booked a room in the first hotel we found that was most convenient for us and quickly went up to change.

I stepped out of the bathroom in the dress I’d borrowed from Hana with a sigh. “I don’t own white dresses.” I muttered, tugging at the bottom. “It’s Hana’s.”

YongGuk, who had just pulled on a nice button down shirt and a blazer just smiled. “Looks nice.”

I rolled my eyes at him. “You’re only saying that so we can hurry up and go.”

“No, you really look good.” He stood up and walked over to stand in front of me, brushing a strand of hair out of my face. “You look like a bride. A very casual bride.”

I laughed and walked around him to go and put some earrings on. “I’m almost finished. And you look amazing yourself, Bang YongGuk.”

Once we were ready, we drove down to the nearest wedding chapel that my phone could find and sat in the car for a while.

“You sure you want to do this?” YongGuk asked, looking at me.

I took a deep breath, staring up at the building. “I’m sure. Are you sure?”

“I’m completely sure.” I turned to look at him and noticed how intensely he was looking at me. There were literally no doubts in his eyes. He wasn’t backing out.

                Neither was I.

It wasn’t awkward until the “you may kiss the bride” part.

I don’t know why, but I had totally blanked on the fact that we would have to kiss sooner or later considering the fact that we were getting married. I guess I had been so focused on the marriage part, I totally forgot the wedding portion.

One look at YongGuk’s expression, though, gave me a little relief though. He must have not realized that was coming either. We stood there staring at each other for a moment, until he suddenly smirked.

My eyes got slightly big and I opened my mouth to ask him what he was doing, when he grabbed me by the hand and pulled me close, kissing me right on the mouth. It was a light kiss and it didn’t even last that long, but it still left me breathless, speechless and any other –less my mushy brain could think of. Pretty sure I was blushing too.

And then YongGuk laughed. Like, literally pointed at me and laughed.

“What are you so shocked for? That’s not your first kiss.” He gave me a smug look before placing a hand on the small of my back and gently leading me towards the car after the small celebration we had after the wedding.

“Well I wasn’t expecting that.” I muttered, still feeling slightly flustered. YongGuk only chuckled in response. I was about to say more, when my phone rang. I reached down and quickly answered without taking the time to look at the Caller I.D. “Hello?”

“SoKyung?” a voice said on the other line. “It’s your mother.”

I froze; literally feeling like someone had dumped a bucket of ice over me. I didn’t say anything.

“SoKyung? I spoke to Hana just recently and heard you were in Incheon. Your father and I are back in Incheon too, just for the night. We’d like to have dinner with you and your—ah—boyfriend. Is that alright?” she said after an awkward beat of silence. I still didn’t speak. “It would be nice to see you again.”

“Nice for who?” I asked in a sharp tone before I could stop myself.

My mother sighed. “SoKyung, please. Your father and I would like to try and work out our differences with you. Just give us another chance. Tonight at dinner we’d like to discuss some things with the two of you anyway, we’ll treat you! We truly do miss you.”

“There’s a difference between missing and regretting, Mother.” I said in a flat tone, glancing at YongGuk who was giving me a look of concern. His expression instantly changed into exasperation. He knew my history with my parents well.

“And we feel both. Please, just come to dinner so that we can work this all out.” She sounded so desperate and fragile and small. But I knew the real her.

I glanced at YongGuk, knowing he could hear the conversation. He shrugged.

“It’s one dinner.” He muttered, too low for my mother to hear him.

I sighed. “Fine, text me the address.”

“Excellent, we’ll see you tonight!” and then my mother hung up the phone.

“What a great way to spend our wedding night.” I muttered, starting up the car.

“What else were we going to do? Watch movies and eat junk food?” YongGuk joked, leaning back in his seat.

“We could still do that.” I muttered.

                “After dinner with your parents.”

“It’s like you’re trying to kill me.”

this is the type of wedding you get at 11:33pm when i'm sick...

i didn't want to write vows and all that crap, because i didn't feel like this was that kind of wedding. it's like a Las Vegas chapel wedding with Elvis as the priest.

except...it wasn't in Vegas. and Elvis wasn't there...

either way, basically i just wanted to get down to introducing So's parents. but they had to get married before her parents could come into the picture.

oh and i'm still debating on if i should put Yongnam (YongGuk's twin brother) in this story or not.

i don't feel comfortable doing it...but i dunno...probably not. most likely not.

thanks for reading~
