Plan B
A Loaded Smile
Where has he gone wrong? Joon tried to rememorize every single detail that pushed him in that situation; he was stuck in an atypical scenario. If he had to describe it, the circumstances he had been in before usually involved only him and his victim. He wanted to retire, so he naturally tried to do so by talking to their head. Unfortunately for him, that particularly day had the Moon Legion General disappear. He was replaced by his superior, Kim Junsu, the Sun Legion supreme head. You’d think a guy dressed in all sorts of animal prints won’t be taken seriously in their special agencies. He’d be compared with Austin Powers or other crazy film characters. His fearful eyes and somewhat careful manner made every single one change their decision once Junsu spoke. That level of superiority in his voice made Joon shudder as well. He had one last mission to accomplish as part of ending his contract. He could have very well be tempted with an office position or a better salary, but Junsu decided to send him on a goose chase. Was it because he knew nobody could find Adam even if he was under their nose? Then again, he did offer Joon the single physical copy of Adam’s latest moves and other intelligence only he had access to. What would he have gained from that? Would that have really helped Joon or it would have pushed him to the corner? What Junsu might not have calculated was Ga-In. Joon’s aunt, good friend of his father the Jupiter Legion’s infamous leader. Again, why would Ga-In give him the intel? Even if they were so close, there was no way the best of the best of spies would smack him with documents and documents of high importance. They could have simply carried the mission on their own and receive all the praise. Ga-In dislikes Junsu to the very core; she could have easily deemed him useless with capturing the anonymous that escaped former agents. The biggest question, and the one that made absolutely no sense, was... why was he surrounded by fellow agents? Why was the guy afraid of him after just killing another man? Was the corpse really Adam’s? And why in the world would they want to capture him? Why?
Joon and Hyosung grew up together. They shared almost everything together. She was recruited before him within the Moon Legion, after initially serving the Sun Legion. She earned her notoriety fairly. He went on to train with Ga-In before being transferred. After meeting again, they’ve been partners for a while, until Hyosung was appointed as a squad commander. Everything went down from there. Joon had to obey her, Hyosung found it difficult to order him; until one of their special assignments went horribly wrong. They no longer addressed each other as they used to and long hours of discussions turned into small chats about the weather. Hyosung became the Secretary; Joon remained a simple field worker. Despite their cold attitude, he never could have imagined Hyosung pointing the gun at him while talking through that megaphone. It was as if his dream collapsed into a nightmare so vivid, it was hard not to confuse it with reality. The only problem being... it was not the result of his twisted mind.
“Joon! You can either drop the gun or we’ll make you. What do you choose?”
Hyosung approached Joon, gun still fixed on her arm; one foot in front of the other, slowly as not to startle the agent. Joon lifted his body from above the struggling man, spreading his arms away from his body. He walked backwards, bending down. His position implied he was ready to surrender. “Adam’s" murderer rushed to safety, leaving behind the suitcase. Hyosung stopped mere feet away from Joon. She could see how Joon’s fingers detached themselves from the gun.
“That’s right... everything will be fine.”
Joon stopped and glanced a second time at her. Something written on Hyosung’s face made him think twice. He grabbed the other gun, the one the murderer had dropped, and dashed towards Hyosung. Stunned from the sudden change, Hyosung let go of the megaphone and tried to act as fast as possible. Joon’s strike to her arm made her release her weapon as well and a cold object fixed itself into her skull. She was forced around, facing the agents while Joon kept the gun at her head. They both danced their way towards the exit, the agents unsure of their stand. Hyosung smirked while leaning against his body.
“...run” she whispered, moving her torso around and brushing part of her hip over his body. Joon could feel something small inside. He let go of her arms. Hyosung kept them at the back in order to trick her subordinates. He felt her. His lips kept close to her ear, breathing heavier. He slipped two fingers inside her pocket, retrieving a set of electronic keys. He kissed her cheek and brutally pushed her while escaping. Hyosung landed on her side, screaming for the agents to fire. It was all they needed.
Through gunshots, Ga-In let go of her rifle and concentrated on Joon’s position. He was nowhere to be seen. Agents filled the region rapidly from inside the warehouse. She had no idea how they could mass enter without being detected. She took another look through the scope. All she could see were the swarming agents. Funny enough, their suits had an unusual color; from the dark blue two-piece, they were wearing black and silver. It made them more visible. She pressed over her headset, grunting at the sight of Hyosung.
“We’ve got prob
