The next few months seemed to go by so fast. After Minseok had left that one night, you saw each other the next day and he acted like nothing happened. You, on the other hand, couldn’t help but feel a little strange inside. You knew that Minseok couldn’t have feelings for you, but something in your gut told you otherwise.

“He’s just being a good friend,” you constantly told yourself every time he did something gentleman-like.

However, if he wanted to be very generous today, he had an excuse. It was Christmas Eve, after all.

“How’s this for a good Christmas Eve outfit, Oppa?” You asked your brother, doing a twirl for him. Not only was today Christmas Eve, but Minseok asked you to go with him someplace other than a studio for training. This, of course, meant you had to dress much nicer than any ordinary day with him. You wore your hair down and in curls. On top you wore a white, fluffy poncho-like coat with bunny ears on the hood. As a bottom you wore a black skirt, stockings, and uggs.

“It’s adorable!” Your brother smiled and you and you smiled back.

“Thanks! I bought it myself, so it’s even a surprise for Minseok to see,” you winked.

As if on cue, a knock came from the door. You ran and opened it, revealing a very cozy looking Kim Minseok. You looked at him from his head to his toes. He wore a blue beanie, a gray sweater, and a red blue and white patterned hooded vest.

 

 

“You sure look warm,” you grinned at his attire and he chuckled.

“You look pretty cozy yourself,” he said back.

You giggled, “Should we go now?”

Minseok nodded back at you and went ahead to the car.

“Bye Oppa! I’ll be home late so don’t worry about me!” You smiled and began to walk out the door.

“Okaaa—WAIT. YOU BETTER NOT BE DOING ANYTHING BA—“

“Bye Oppa!” You cut him off and slammed the door shut.

“So where do you plan to go on this fine Christmas Eve, hm?” You asked him playfully when you got in the car.

“Around~” He mimicked your tone and you pouted.

“Just ‘around’? It’s Christmas Eve Minseok! We have to do something fun~” you looked up at him and grinned.

He chuckled, “Fine, why don’t we go get some of the finest hot chocolate?”

“Where’s that?”

“In Myeongdong, of course!” Minseok smiled.

“Ah, of course, you’re favorite city. Sure let’s go,” you winked at him.

“Wait here okay? This might take a little while,” Minseok instructed and showed you towards a bench where you could sit and wait for him.  You obeyed and waited there as he walked into the crowded shop.

You had begun to grow tired of waiting for Minseok to come back. You checked your phone. It had already been half an hour since he went into that damned hot chocolate shop. You were just about to go inside until you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned to find Kai smiling down at you.

“K-Kai?”

“The one and only,” Kai grinned, giving you a hug, “what are you doing here?”

You hugged him back, “Oh, I’m waiting for Minseok, he said he was going to buy us hot chocolate from the best shop here.”

“Oh did he?” Kai smirked, “Well it just so happened that he called me a few minutes ago saying that he’d be late. And he asked that I’d come and take you for a while instead so you wouldn’t catch a cold waiting for him.”

You tilted your head to the side, “Oh, he did?”

Kai nodded.

“O-okay then… Let’s go I guess,” You grabbed the hand Kai held out for you and he led you to his car.

“Who are you texting, Kai?” You asked him. He was smirking down at his phone, something seemed a bit off.

“Oh,” he snapped out of his daze, “Just telling Xiumin that I got you,” he winked back at you.

You nodded and looked down at your phone. Frowning, you realized that you had forgotten to charge your phone the night before. 7%...Perfect, you thought sarcastically,  how am I supposed to get a hold of Minseok now?

“Don’t worry, you won’t be needing that thing anyways! I’ll take you someplace that’ll distract you from it,” Kai chuckled but your face remained un-amused.

.:MINSEOK’S POV:.

 

“Oh Hyunjae~ Sorry for taking so lo—“

SPLASH

Minseok didn’t care about spilling the drinks he waited over an hour for. No. What he was more worried about was that you were gone.

“H-Hyunjae? HYUNJAE!” He screamed looking everywhere for you, to find nothing but strangers passing him by.

“I’m so stupid, I knew I shouldn’t have left her all alone there. What if she got kidnapped!?”  Minseok hit his head multiple times before leaving the spot to look elsewhere.

He ran through the streets of Myeongdong, asking random people if they had seen you around. Sadly none of them had seen you. However, he stopped searching when his phone buzzed in his back pocket.

He nervously took it out his phone and checked the single text he had gotten.

“H-Hyunja—Kai?”

 

To: Xiumin
From: Kai

Hey “Minseokieeee~”

I found your girl sitting on a bench alone! That’s not very nice (v 3 v)//

So I took her because you weren’t being a very good date~

We’ll  be going to the festival where all couples go on Christmas Eve~

I’ll only give her back if you can find us before midnight.

You better hurry, we’re trying every activity here.

Catch us if you can! ( ` ㅇ ㅅ ㅇ’)//

 

“N-no way…” Minseok gripped his phone in his hand and stormed to his car, “Kim Jongin. You are a dead man.”

.:NO ONE’S POV:.

 

After about an hour and a half, you and Kai made it to your destination.

“Kai, what is this place?” you said in awe.

In front of you stood the biggest Christmas tree you had seen in your entire life. It was covered in giant lights, tinsel, and ornaments. Around you were many, many couples all holding hands and choosing to go to an ice skating rink nearby. The entire area was a little festival for couples to go to during Christmas time, and you had no idea why Kai brought you here.

He chuckled, “Don’t get the wrong idea, Hyunjae, we’re just coming here as friends…Unless you want to be more than friends?”

You furrowed your eyebrows and grabbed him by the wrist, “Let’s just go ice skating.”

“Catch me if you can, Kai!” You stuck your tongue out at him and sped up on your skates as he trudged behind. You had already gone ice skating many times with your brother. Kai, on the other hand, never tried it once, and he wasn’t what you would call a “natural born ice skater.”

“Gah, I’ll get you in like 10 minutes,” Kai panted, grabbing onto the nearest wall.

You pouted, “You’re no fun, Kai. You have to actually try.” You skated back to him and grabbed his hand, “Do I have to be your guide or something?” you said playfully.

Kai didn’t get angry at your comment, but simply smiled and let you pull him along the ice rink. While you two were having fun, though, Minseok was worried sick and looking everywhere for you.

.:MINSEOK’S POV:.

 

“A place where couples go…That could be anywhere!” He slammed his fist on the steering wheel, causing the horn to go off.

“O-oops,” He laid his head back on the chair before immediately snapping it back.

“WAIT—“ Minseok grabbed his phone and looked through the local news for ads, “FOUND IT!”

 

Want to take that someone special out for Christmas Eve?

Come to the Christmas Festival! Only an hour and a half drive from Seoul.

“But it’s such a long drive!” One might say, but it is totally worth it!

Take your honey ice skating, build snowmen with them, eat some nice desserts.

And don’t forget that special mistletoe kiss at midnight!

 

I’ll only give her back if you can find us before midnight.

You better hurry, we’re trying every activity here.

Minseok remembered Kai’s text and grew worried, “He wouldn’t kiss her…would he?”

He looked at his phone, “It’s already 7:00PM now…If I drive there right now I should be there by 9:00PM the latest,” He quickly put his phone away and stepped on the gas.

.:NO ONE’S POV:.

 

“So where does this carrot go?” You ask Kai, waving it in front of his face.

He laughed and grabbed it from you, “It goes here,” he instructed you, sticking the carrot on the snowman’s face, “It’s a nose.”

Your mouth turned into an ‘o’ shape, and you grabbed two pieces of charcoal.

“I’m guessing these are the eyes?” You asked. Kai nodded and you placed each one on the snowman’s face.

You stepped back to look at the two of yours finished project, “Hm, not bad, not bad. We make a good team, don’t we?”

Kai chuckled and moved the few strands of hair from your face, “Yeah, we do,” he smiled warmly and you couldn’t help but smile back at him.

Kai looked at his phone, “It's getting late, Hyunjae, we should head to our last stop. We have to wait in line for this special event.”

“Um…okay,” you questioned this, but followed him anyways.

.:MINSEOK’S POV:.

 

Minseok got out of his car. It took about 2 hours to get to the festival, 30 minutes to park, and now the poor boy had to walk around to find you and Kai.

“It’s already past 10, where could they be?”

He first walked past the ice skating ring and asked the old lady working there if she had seen the two of you.

“Yes I did, but that was many hours ago, they might not even be here anymore,” She told him. Minseok nodded and continued on.

He trudged through the snow and passed by some of the snowmen people built. He came across one that he found adorable, it was the one you and Kai had made.

He came close to it and noticed writing in the snow next to it.

“KAI ♥ HYUNJAE”

 Minseok felt his heart sink at that moment. It was obvious they had been here, together.

“N-no, Kai obviously wrote this without Hyunjae knowing,” he tried to reassure himself. At least he knew Hyunjae must be here.

He checked his phone again, “11:30…How does one spend more than an hour walking around looking for someone?”

.:NO ONE’S POV:.

 

“Kai, it’s already 11:30, what are we waiting in line for?” You crossed your arms impatiently.

“Relax, it’ll only take a few more minutes, okay?” Kai patted your shoulder and gave you a reassuring smile, however you continued to pout.

It took about 20 more minutes for you two to get to the front of the line.

“M-MISTLETOE!?” You shouted loudly when you looked at the mistletoe stand.

“Uh, yeah, why else do you think everyone was passing by us with mistletoe in their hand?” Kai retorted.

“B-b-but…It’s my first kiss,” you mumbled.

Kai’s eyes widened at your comment, “You mean to tell me that you’re 18 years old and have never had your first kiss?” You nodded and he burst into laughter, “Don’t worry Hyunjae, I’m a great kisser so you won’t mind it being me,” he winked.

You bit your bottom lip and nodded back at him. He took your hand and led you to an open spot where he could hang the mistletoe up.

By 11:55 you two were standing facing each other with mistletoe hanging above your heads.

Kai looked up at it and back down to you, “We have to wait until exactly midnight for it to be special, okay?” He grinned.

You didn’t say a word but simply nodded back.

.:MINSEOK’S POV:.

 

“Crap, it’s almost midnight, where the hell could they be?”

He paused for a few moments before a bell went off in his head.

“Wait…MIDNIGHT! HOW THE HELL DID I FORGET!? THE KISS—“ Minseok immediately dashed to the spot where most couples were heading to.

It only took him about a minute to find your bunny-eared hoodie.

“HYUNJAE—“ he called out for you.

.:NO ONE’S POV:.

 

“HYUNJAE—“ you heard your name being called. You and Kai both looked into the direction that the shout came from and squinted when you saw someone running towards you.

“M-MINSEOK!” You quickly ran to his embrace.

He pulled back and held you by the shoulders, “H-Hyunjae, I’ve been looking for you all day. I thought I lost you,” you could have sworn tears were forming in his eyes as he became chocked up.

“What do you mean? Kai told me you said to go with him,” You tilted your head to the side in confusion.

Minseok blankly stared at you for a minute before shooting a glare at Kai.

“YOU DID WHAT!?” Minseok attempted to throw a punch at him, but Kai jumped back, dodging it swiftly.

Kai stuck his tongue out at him and ruffled your hair before running away.

“HAVE FUN SMOOTCHING YOU TWO~” He cooed from afar.

You and Minseok looked up at the mistletoe above and looked back at each other. Both of your faces were completely red.

“It’s 11:59…” Minseok commented.

“Yeah…” you said quietly, looking anywhere but at him.

“HELLO LOVELY COUPLES!” an announcer began, “WE WILL NOW BEGIN THE 30 SECOND COUNT DOWN TO THE MIDNIGHT KISS.”

You looked directly at Minseok, and he looked back at you

“29, 28…”

“You sure you want to do this?” He asked.

You nodded, even with Minseok you couldn’t say anything back.

“23, 22…”

“Y-you know…” Minseok began, you looked up at him, “This is going to be my first kiss…so sorry if it’s not like any amazing ones that you’ve had in the past,” You’re eyes widened at first, but you gave him a small, silent smile.

“11”

“10”

“9”

Minseok grabbed one of your hands and tucked your hair behind your ears with his free hand.

“8”

“7”

“6”

You both looked each other directly in the eyes.

“5”

“4”

“3”

“2”

“1”

“MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!”

At that moment, Minseok tipped your chin and leaned into you. He tilted his head just the slightest bit before placing his lips onto yours. You closed your eyes in bliss as you kissed him back. You never expected your first kiss to be like those sappy, movie scenarios, but you didn’t mind it one bit. Neither of you pulled away for a good 20 seconds, and when you did it was ever so gentle.

Your cheeks turned pink when you faced him once again. When you looked up you noticed that his cheeks were a bit pink as well.

“Sorry, that probably wasn’t as magical as your other kisses…” Minseok sheepishly grinned and rubbed the back of his neck.

You shook your head in disapproval and wrapped your arms around him, resting your head on his chest.

“No, it was magical, and you want to know something?” You asked, looking up at him. He looked down at you and tilted his head, “That was my first kiss too.”

Minseok gave the most sincere smile you had ever seen and gave you another quick kiss.

“And that was my second,” You giggled.

He chuckled, and rubbed your head before pulling you in for a tight hug.

Maybe this little bun did have some feelings for you.
