Chapter Five: Perfect Waist 


The look on Taeyeon’s face was unreadable to Jessica.

“Ugh…”

Judging from the only thing that escaped the kid’s mouth, Jessica already knew that she would be turned down. “I promise it’ll be fun.”

Taeyeon furrowed her brows. “I don’t go ou---“

“I know we just met for a couple of times, but I’m not a bad person.” Jessica explained. Of course, who would go out with a stranger to do something ‘fun’? That just spelled  creepy in any person’s eyes. “You can tell your friends or even your family that you’re with me. I’m an alumnus here.”

Taeyeon shook her head, “It’s not that. I just don’t have the time to go out. I have to follo---“

“I thought you want to be spontaneous? Isn’t this one great opportunity to let loose?” And this was where Jessica’s marketing skills come in handy. She was really good in convincing people, and that was well known to everyone who had worked with her. 

“I… ugh…” Taeyeon looked to group of men wearing suits. 

Jessica followed Taeyeon’s gaze and she knew that one of those three men was the person that greeted Taeyeon before in the restaurant. It was also the same guy that picked her up. “You want me to ask permission from them?”

Taeyeon then looked at Jessica, “What made you think I’m going?”

Jessica smirked, “Because you’re contemplating?”

Taeyeon giggled, “I don’t think I can skip my tutorial today.”

“I’ll teach you. I’m really smart.” Jessica flashed a smile.

“I think everyone here knows that. Miss Jung, the twenty-second SSA Suma Laude.” 

Jessica didn’t expect that people would really know about her. It was a school that really honored their alumni, but being out of this school for more than four years made her thought that her accomplishments were no longer known to the student body. “So, you’ll go with me?” She went back to the topic.

“You won’t take no for an answer now, would you?” Taeyeon sighed. “This really is your convincing skills, President Jung. I’ve heard so much about it.”

Jessica smiled and nodded, “Yes. I won’t take no for an answer. I need to prove to Tiffany that I do have a life.” The look on Taeyeon’s face made Jessica realized that the kid couldn’t follow. “Don’t think about it. It’s a best friend thing.”

Taeyeon sighed.

“I promise. I’ll really teach you.”

Taeyeon shook her head, “You don’t have to.”

“So you’re going with me?”

“You’re awfully persistent.”

Jessica smirked, “Is it working?”

Taeyeon then nodded, “Let me just tell them I’ll be going with you.” She pointed at the guys she was eyeing earlier.

“So you’re really going with me?” Jessica’s eyes lit with joy. Finally, someone actually agreed to go with her.

Taeyeon simply nodded and walked away.

The blonde headed towards her motorbike; she then untied the extra helmet that was on the edge of her bike. 

“Ready?” Jessica asked as she noticed Taeyeon approaching. She handed the extra helmet to the kid. She then grabbed her helmet that was placed on the seat and wore it.

“Where are we going?” Taeyeon asked as she watched Jessica get on the humongous motor bike. To Taeyeon, even the tire itself was heavier than Jessica. How could someone so small maneuver something so heavy?

“Just get on. You’ll know where once we get there.” The blonde coolly said. “Get on.” She said and then closed the wind shield of her helmet. “Hold my waist.” She instructed as Taeyeon slowly got on the motorbike and put the full face helmet on.

The kid gulped down as she slowly fished her hands around Jessica’s waist. 

Jessica then accelerated and it made the kid hold on to her much tighter. Taeyeon’s head automatically leaned forward, touching Taeyeon’s back with her helmet.

They had been driving for about five minutes now. Jessica didn’t really know where she was headed. Out of impulse, she just invited the kid to somewhere fun, but the blonde didn’t even know where to bring the kid.

Taeyeon’s grip on Jessica’s jacket tightened. It somehow pained the latter; part of her skin was being gripped by Taeyeon as well. 

The blonde noticed that time was running fast. They left the school and she still hadn’t thought of any place to take the kid. What did kids these days do for fun anyway? She saw a familiar poster that she saw a couple of weeks back.  Her lips formed a smirk as she realized that there was a festival in her parents’ neighborhood that had been going on for the entire week. It was the same foundation that funded Yuri’s schooling.

She then turned right and headed to the pier that was about fifteen minutes away from where they were.  She eased down on her speed as she finally knew where she was headed. Taeyeon finally let go of her grip on Jessica, and she comfortably rested her hands on Jessica’s waist. 

“Her waist is so thin.” Taeyeon said, and it caused Jessica to smile. The kid didn’t know that the blonde could actually hear her since both helmets had intercoms, causing them to hear whatever the other would say.

Should she tell Taeyeon that or not? Jessica contemplated.

“I wish I have such perfect waist.” Taeyeon said again as she moved her hand, trying to feel the blonde’s waist better.

Jessica couldn’t help but smile and then bit her lower lip, trying to suppress her giggles from escaping. If she made a sound, the kid would obviously figure out that there were intercoms in their helmets. 

This kid’s interesting.

They finally reached the destination. It was a carnival by the pier that the Home Owners’ Association of that place formed as a fund raiser for their charity works, supporting scholars and some other things. She remembered that during her term in the Student Council, she made everyone attend the same event. It had always been the same.

“A carnival?” Taeyeon asked as she walked closer to Jessica, looking at the carnival.

Jessica nodded. “Don’t you think it’s fun?”

Taeyeon couldn’t help but laugh. She couldn’t suppress her laughter. “I just really didn’t think you’d bring me to some place like this.”

Jessica frowned. “Then what did you think? I’d bring you to a syndicate or something?”

Taeyeon looked at Jessica’s serious face. And laughed some more. “No, no, no. I just really didn’t think that you’d bring me to a carnival to have fun.”

Jessica sighed, “Because of the way I dress?”

Taeyeon shook her head, raised both her hands, shoulder level, and started waving it. “No. Not at all!”

“Right.” Jessica crossed her arms.

“Let’s have fun!” Taeyeon tried to avert the topic to something else.

Jessica watched Taeyeon run towards the carnival like a kid. Jessica slowly followed, “Don’t get lost.”

Taeyeon looked back; she glared at Jessica and stuck her tongue out. “I’m not a kid!”

You sure act like one.

“Yes, yes. You’re a teenager. Like that’s any different.” She said as she reached Taeyeon’s side. Taeyeon just looked at Jessica, but Jessica’s eyes were transfixed on the carnival. She then muttered unconsciously, “It didn’t really change.”

“You’ve been here before?” Taeyeon asked as they both continued to head towards the main entrance.

Jessica nodded, “About fiveyears ago. I managed to convince the school for a fundraiser here to help scholars of our school to still be funded even in college.”

“I’ve heard about that. Our council actually managed to secure two scholars for their college funds.”

Jessica smiled and looked at Taeyeon, “That’s nice. They have the right to education just like us.” Her tone was calm that it surprised Taeyeon. Just awhile ago, Taeyeon thought Jessica was acting a bit childlike, but talking to her now made the kid realize that Jessica was really an adult.

“Well, we can’t really beat your council.” Taeyeon chuckled. “You guys are everyone’s inspirations in the student council.”

Jessica couldn’t help but laugh, “People actually look up to us?”

“Yes!”

“But we were just a bunch of rebels. Only Narsha really took us seriously.” Jessica giggled as she recalled her old teacher. Narsha was stuck with them because she was a new teacher, having no power to say ‘no’, she took the offer of advising the student council. “But it turned out well.”

Taeyeon nodded, “Everyone speaks highly of the way you led your council. You even funded eight scholars to study abroad.”

Jessica then walked forward, “Hey, we’re not here to talk about the council. We’re here to have fun.” She flashed a smile.

“Yes, at a carnival.” Taeyeon sounded less enthusiastic. “I never really expected you to think that a carnival’s fun.”

“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

Taeyeon nodded, “Yes. I’m lucky you didn’t take me to a bar or something.” She giggled.

“Hey! I’m telling you, I’m not a bad person.”

“So, what shall we do first?”

“Viking? Roller coaster?” The blonde tried to name the scariest rides they had in the carnival. 

Taeyeon gulped, “Maybe we should just walk around.” Her eyes landed on a big unicorn plushy, “It’s soooo fluffy!”

“You’re gonna die?” Jessica raised her brow, finishing Taeyeon’s sentence. “Despicable me.”

“You… you’ve watched it?!”

Jessica rolled her eyes, “Doesn’t mean I wear clothes like these automatically meant I don’t watch cartoons.”

“So you know what happens next, right?”

“What?” Jessica raised her brow.

“You’ll get me that plushy. I did come with you all this way.” Taeyeon crossed her arms on her chest.

You cunning little kid.
