“What are you smiling for?” Yuri asked Jessica as she tried to take a peek of the blonde’s iPhone screen. However, when the blonde noticed what the former was doing, she quickly put it in her pocket.

“None of your business.”

Yuri narrowed her eyes, “This is suspicious. Is it Taeyeon again? I mean, if it is, it’s no longer suspicious.” Jessica simply glared at Yuri and so she continued, “Are you cheating on Taeyeon with someone else?!”

Jessica rolled her eyes. “Dude, seriously. You have issues.”

“I don’t. You’re the one with issues here. I mean, look at you!” Yuri looked at her friend and then eyed a couple of containers stacked on top of each other. “You even cooked for them. I’ve never done that before.”

“Sure. You didn’t cook for Tiffany before.” Jessica said sarcastically.

“Ha!” Yuri bellowed, “So why is your analogy like that?!”

Jessica sighed, “Like what?”

“Why do you compare Tiffany and me to you and Taeyeon?”

“What’s wrong with that?” Jessica walked over to the counter and placed the last container there.

“Tiffany and I… we’re a couple. So you’re saying you and Taeyeon are a couple?”

“You’re stupid. You just said that you’ve never cooked for anyone, so I’m just saying that you’ve cooked for Tiffany countless of times.”

“Sure. Deny it, Jessica. One day, you’ll feel sorry that Taeyeon’s taken by that girl you talked about… that one short girl.” Yuri sighed, walking away.

“Who?” Jessica looked at her friend as the latter walked away.

“That girl who was here yesterday. The one who was glaring at you.”

“Oh. Sunny? I don’t really care. They suit each other.”

“If you say so.” Yuri walked out of the kitchen.

“Hara,” Jessica called the assistant chef for the evening. “Inform Tiffany that someone will pick this up, okay?”

Hara flashed a smiled at Jessica, “Okay. No problem.”

“Here’s the payment for it before Tiffany goes nuts, thinking I didn’t pay for these.” Jessica reached out the payment to Hara and the girl took it. “Leave the receipt on my desk later.”

Tired? That meeting sure took awhile.

We were talking so we kinda lost track of time.
 

Oh. That seems fun.  I hope you finished your homework and everything though.

I did.  Thank you for the food. Yoona and IU ate a lot. :] They asked me to pass on the message too. So yeah, thanks from all of us! <3

Jessica woke up a little past nine in the morning and she noticed that Popo was sleeping beside her. She did not recall having her daughter there last night. Well, maybe her stupid best friend stole the spare key again. It wasn’t like Jessica minds. It had been the case and she had gotten used to it.

She got up from her bed, raised her arms high, stretching her muscles. She went straight to her master bathroom and did her morning routine.

After taking a shower, Jessica walked out of the bedroom and the smell of pancakes and bacon lingered in her nostrils, causing to produce an incredible amount of saliva. Heading down the stairs, she could hear inaudible chattering and she knew for sure that Tiffany and Yuri were in her house.

“Hi love!” Tiffany greeted her best friend as she flipped the pancake.

Yuri looked over her shoulder to smile at Jessica as she fixes the silvers on the table, “Had a good sleep?”

Jessica nodded, “It was good. I’m glad I don’t work today.” Jessica walked over to where Tiffany was and eyed all the food her best friend prepared. “What’s all these?”

“Food?” Tiffany stated.

“Duh? I’m just asking why you guys are here.”

Tiffany flashed a smile, “It’s because it’s your birthday, silly.”

“No it’s not.” Jessica then walked over to where Yuri was idling around and sat on a chair. “If I remember correctly, I was born on April eighteenth. I don’t think it’s that date today.”

“Well, today’s your party and I’m pretty sure we’ll be wasted tomorrow so Yuri and I decided to surprise you today.”

Yuri nodded and flashed a smile. “I was out shopping for your present yesterday, too.”

“Yup! I’m pretty sure you’ll love it!” Tiffany flashed her eye-smile as she carried the viands and set them on the table in front of Jessica.

“Thank you guys. You didn’t have to.”

The couple shook their heads and Yuri spoke, “No. We have to. You’re the reason Tiffany and I are a couple to begin with. So we want to thank you in every possible way.”

“Hey that’s what friends do. We meddle and stick our noses on each other’s businesses. So yeah…” Jessica took one pancake and placed it on the plate in front of her.

Tiffany pulled out the chair next to Yuri and sat there. “Hey, since the party starts at ten, do you think Taeyeon’s really going? Isn’t that pretty late for them?”

Jessica shrugged, “She said she’ll go. I’m not sure though.”

“When I saw her yesterday, she said she’s gonna go. I even saw her friends and they said they’re going.” Yuri stated as she was pouring a whole lot of maple syrup on her pancake.

“You saw her?” Jessica asked; brow raised.

Yuri took a huge bite of her pancake, which Tiffany and Jessica thought was disgusting as it was murdered with syrup and butter. “Yeah. I think she was on a date with that rude kid.”

“Who? Sunny?” Jessica let go of her fork and placed it on the side of her plate.

Yuri nodded as she chewed. Soon after swallowing, she began to speak. “Think they were on a date or something. They were all in pairs. Her and that Sunny kid... Those two tall kids... and then” Yuri pressed her lips together, trying to remember who the last pair was, “IU… I think that’s her name and this guy.”

“I thought they were in a meeting?” Jessica asked, grabbing her fork.

“Ouch!” Yuri looked at her girlfriend who was busy eating her food. “Why’d you do that for?!”

“Do what?” Jessica and Tiffany asked in unison. Jessica blankly looked at Yuri, while Tiffany was smiling. That smile just told Jessica that Tiffany did something to Yuri. Minding her own business, she began to eat her food.

The blonde couldn’t help but roll her eyes as the couple were whispering to each other. “Stupid couple.”

“I’ll let that go since today’s your day.”

“My birthday’s tomorrow.” Jessica was just looking at her food, and eating bits of it.

Jessica heard crumpling noises so she looked at where the noise came from. She saw a small gift bag in front of her and immediately looked at the couple in front of her, “Happy birthday, Jessica.” They both greeted.

The blonde flashed a smile; thankful that her closest friends never fail to forget about her. “Thanks, guys!” the blonde reached for the gift and took a peek of the inside- revealing a jewelry box. She took it out and opened the box; a soft smile crept on Jessica’s face as she saw the content of it – a platinum bracelet with small studs of diamonds. Tiffany and Yuri raised their arms forward, revealing identical bracelets that paired with Jessica’s.

“You like it?” Tiffany asked and Jessica nodded.

“I love it.”

“Good! It was so hard looking for a perfect gift since I was just sending pictures to Tiffany. Good thing Taeyeon and the others were there with me.”

“I’m glad you liked it.” Tiffany said, smiling at Jessica.

“I wonder if Taeyeon got you a gift. That IU kid was suggesting couple’s T-Shirt but that Sunny kid was telling Taeyeon to not get it. I always liked that IU kid and that other couple there… I forgot their names.”

“Yoona and SeoHyun? Couple’s shirt? Are you on crack?”

“No duh! You should really make a move. That Sunny is a mile ahead of you. I saw her holding Taeyeon’s hand.”

“It’s fine. Taeyeon can do whatever she wants. I mean, we’re not in a relationship or anything. So she can flirt with Sunny all she wants.”

“Then why do you sound jealous?”

“I don’t. I don’t really have to date her.”

“Jessica,” Tiffany smiled at her friend, “You should try dating again. It doesn’t have to be Taeyeon but I want you to go out more often, you know, just to meet people and fall in love.”

“Yeah! With Taeyeon!” Yuri exclaimed, her hand was fisted, slightly raised with a fork in it. “Hwaiting!”

Jessica rolled her eyes. Date the kid? What’s the point of dating? She had dated before and nothing was really different than what she had done with friends, except for the kissing and cuddling that seemed like a requirement for every other couple. Why had it always been like that? Why was going on date exclusive for lovers? Jessica went to countless of unromantic dates and the only difference was the kiss and the holding of hands. Was there really a rule that states people who dated each other needed to hold hands and kiss every time?

What Jessica and Taeyeon had was something valuable and the blonde liked to keep things as it was.

“You need to go to the spa and get ready for your birthday party later, okay?”

“Okay! So you guys clean this. You guys are not ditching my kitchen after using it.” Jessica stood up from the chair, carrying her present.

“Bye Jessica.”

“Bye.” Jessica headed towards her staircase to change her outfit.

“Bye Yuri. You have to clean Jessica’s kitchen. Love you!”

“Wait, WHAT?!”

Tiffany, Yuri and Jessica rented out a disco club for Jessica’s celebration that was located beside a five star hotel. The DJ was scratching his music up and the lights were techno colored. Jessica was entertaining some guests, telling them how thankful she was that they visited her when she was in the hospital. Of course, she didn’t really go on full details on the reason why she was there to begin with. Every time she was asked about it, she would simply smile and say ‘it was an accident’.

Jessica walked up the loft, entertaining more guests. It wasn’t like she was really friends with these people. Some people that were in there were people she went to high school with or talked with three or four times her whole life but like what Tiffany said to Jessica, ‘the more the merrier.’

“Jessica!” The blonde spun around and saw a familiar figure. The girl rushed towards her and hugged her tight, “I missed you!”

“Hyomin! You’re back!?” Jessica was with all smiles as she hugged her cousin back.

“I wouldn’t miss this for the world.” She pushed Jessica a little to have a better view of the latter. “You look so pretty tonight.”

“Thank you. I always do.”

Hyomin laughed at her cousin’s silly statement. “You’re just as conceited as ever.”

“I’m merely stating facts.”

“Sure.” Hyomin looked around. From the top, they had a better view of people coming in the party and also those who were in the dance floor and the club. “Aren’t those my juniors from school?” Hyomin pointed at the group of girls that was walking around the ground floor.

Jessica’s head moved towards the direction Hyomin directed, and soon, a smile crept on her face. “Yeah. They’re my new friends.”

“Oh?”

Jessica nodded, “I can’t be friends with High School kids?”

“Just wondering. And I didn’t know Sunny and Taeyeon are going out... that sure changes a lot of things.” The cousin looked at Sunny and Taeyeon. They were actually awfully close and when the two realized that the petite couple was holding hands, a frown evidently appeared on both of their faces.

“I’ll go greet them.” Jessica said, half smiling at her cousin.

Hyomin nodded, “You should. It’s your party after all.”

Jessica turned around and headed downstairs to greet her friends, Are they really a couple now? Wow...

The blonde was able to locate the high school kids and walked towards them. “Glad you guys could make it.” Jessica’s eyes couldn’t help but travel down Taeyeon’s and Sunny’s arm, hands intertwining. She tried to not look at their hands but it seemed like there was something about them holding hands that created unpleasant feelings in Jessica.

“Of course we’ll be here.” Yoona said to Jessica with a huge smile on; her eyes traveling around, looking at the unfamiliar place. “It’s my first time in a club.”

“Then you should enjoy the night. No drinking, please.” The celebrator flashed a smile.

“We don’t drink, unnie.” Seohyun chimed in. “And unnie, we didn’t come here empty handed. We gave our gifts to the ushers and usherettes by the front door.”

Jessica laughed, “I don’t mind if you came here empty handed. I’m just glad you made it.” Jessica’s eyes oddly landed on Taeyeon; their eyes meeting. “You look beautiful tonight.” Jessica hurriedly moved her gaze as she realized the glare Sunny was sending her. It was very rude of the blonde to compliment someone else’s girlfriend especially in front of the said girlfriend. She then looked at the other girls and said, “I can’t believe you guys are high school kids.”

“Unnie, we’re not kids. We’re eighteen years old. So technically, we’re adults.” IU pouted.

The blonde patted IU’s head. She was comparing IU and her daughter, Popo. “I didn’t mean for it to be offensive.”

“And to think we walked the entire mall yesterday to find a gift for you… here you are, calling us kids.” IU, the drama queen, stated.

Taeyeon then in a panicked said, “We were in a meeting!”

Jessica flashed a soft smile, “I heard from Yuri you guys met each other at the mall.”

“I… I didn’t mean to lie.” Taeyeon looked down, and Jessica noticed Taeyeon’s grip on Sunny’s hand. Why did those hands annoy Jessica so much that she kept on noticing every slight difference it made!?

“Don’t worry. We all have secrets. You did enjoy your date, right?”

“Yes, we did.” Sunny said, causing Taeyeon and Jessica to look at her.

“Then that’s good.” She then looked at IU and the rest of the girls, trying to avoid as much eye contact with the couple. “I actually need to entertain other guests. Have fun.”

“Je—Jessica.” Taeyeon called as Jessica spun around.

The blonde looked over her shoulder, “Yes?”

Taeyeon flashed a smile, “Nothing. I’m glad to be here, too.” Jessica didn’t have a chance to reply as Sunny pulled Taeyeon towards the dance floor or wherever the midget wanted to go.

“Me, too… I’m glad.” Jessica murmured to no one but herself.
