Cold & Sweet Like Ice Cream

Made For You (TaengSic)

Well, I’m back! I actually didn’t know how to approach the plot until my friend, alex, helped me. ^_^ So I thank him for that. It isn’t just that, actually that! Since I was a jetsetter this week, this actually gave me enough time to write on the plane (4 flights in 24 hours), whilst in the process of moving up northwest (Las Vegas to Seattle). Keke!

Anyway, here’s a kinda long update. A really different approach… I kinda liked this new thing so I hope you do as well. <3

Chapter Twenty-Two: Cold & Sweet Like Ice Cream

"We'll be there in ten minutes," Jessica said as she looked at the passenger beside her. Taeyeon just smiled at her as she nodded. It had been a nice weekend for the both of them with friends - Jessica was happy that they were alone together for the most part. Ever since Taeyeon asked her to at least be patient with her - this being her first relationship - they were spending more and more time alone away from their friends. It wasn’t like they didn’t want to be around them, but Jessica wanted to take the opportunity of having Taeyeon to herself. Taeyeon said they should take baby steps, and the chef was very much so willing, so spending more time together would speed up the process.

Like last night, after dinner, they all decided to do their own thing. Jessica thought it would be nice to ride the horses to a place a little bit higher so they could stargaze. Narsha and Tiffany playfully told Jessica that she couldn’t go on a date far from them since they needed to protect the innocent girl, obviously joking. She just ended up calling both of them idiots, and went ahead and rode horses to nowhere in particular and simply talked.

Weird how they could talk when they were just by themselves and Taeyeon became more reserved when they were with people, but it was a good thing. She knew this was her girlfriend’s first relationship, and with a girl at that, so she tried her best to be understanding. The blonde figured with Taeyeon opening up to her about slowing their progress down, it did them both good. And for someone like the reserved girlfriend she had, this was probably a huge step.

“So, I’ll see you tomorrow, right?” Taeyeon asked.

Since she was driving, the blonde only glanced quickly at her girlfriend with a smile on her face. “If you’re not so busy, I’d love to.” Since she understood how busy it was to be the student council president at their school - she was once one - there was just no way she would want to try to make Taeyeon’s schedule even more hectic. Her girlfriend was actually the graduating valedictorian, so that would make her busier.

“It’s fine,” she said in a normal tone and then murmured, “I really like spending time with you.”

Sometimes, Jessica wondered where Taeyeon got her courage to be saying things like this, when half the time she was the type to be quiet. But that was part of Taeyeon’s charm. She was someone that Jessica didn’t know, but slowly, her charm caught the blonde’s attention. And now, she couldn’t help but be captivated by it, wanting to know more and more about her new girlfriend. But at the same time, Jessica wouldn’t deny that she was still a bit guarded when it came to this relationship. What would happen if Taeyeon realized she liked somebody else? The chef was confident that if it was a girl, there was no way she would lose; however, what if she started to realize she was entirely into guys? Where would that leave Jessica?

But that wasn’t the point now. She just had to prove to the girl that there would be nobody else better for Taeyeon than her. Ambitious may it seem, but this was what she wanted. There was just no point in worrying about getting replaced when this was only the beginning stages of their relationship.

“Did you already pick the university you wanted to go to?”

Taeyeon paused for a little bit, and then softly said, “Maybe Korea University.”

“Isn’t it a good business university? I thought for sure you would’ve gone to Seoul National University,” Jessica said, surprised by the fact that Taeyeon was considering a private university that was more popular with their business and accounting programs. But then, their law program wasn’t that bad. It just wasn’t expected, and it was nice to get to know new things about Taeyeon.

“I’m still contemplating.” Taeyeon sighed. Jessica was about to say something - she was worried since her girlfriend sighed, which she rarely did - and then she continued, “Let’s not talk about this,” there was a tint of hollow in her voice, or was there? Maybe her girlfriend was just tired and she thought wrong.

Not wanting to prey on Taeyeon’s business, she just let it be. She figured that her girlfriend would talk to her if she ever was ready to. She was once there, unable to decide which university to take or even which program to actually pursue, and it was hard since it would determine a lot of their future. “Well, talk to me if you need anything,” she said as she pulled up in front of Taeyeon’s home.

“I will,” Taeyeon said as she collected her things. “I’ll see you tomorrow, right? You’re fine with me visiting, right?”

Why wouldn’t Jessica be fine with her girlfriend visiting her? As much as possible, she would want to spend a lot of her free time with the girl and get to know her even more. “Of course. You don’t even need to ask.”

“Good,” with a smile, Taeyeon answered.  The blonde looked ahead, seeing as one of Kim’s household staff came out just waiting for Taeyeon. The man wasn’t looking their way, but was simply waiting for the girl. Jessica had dropped her off so many times that she already knew.

As she looked ahead, staring at the statuesque that stood still there; she couldn’t help but be impressed with how they were trained to do this though. Obviously they were highly skilled, following a very precise code when serving the Kims. Honestly, Jessica didn’t know much about Taeyeon’s family; she would love to get to know them aside from the fact that they were entrepreneurs and that they gave birth to her girlfriend. Maybe one day, Taeyeon would be able to invite them to her parents’ house, obviously, this would happen if Taeyeon would be able to tell people that they were together.

Now that Jessica thought about it, would Taeyeon’s family be fine with their only daughter, the only child for that matter, being with a girl? As much as she wanted to know the answer, she knew she couldn’t attain it just yet. This would come later on. Maybe, she should just be the best person for Taeyeon so she could be introduced to the Kim family. Realizing that sometimes, she was subconsciously insecure. This mysterious aura that led her to having this girlfriend also caused her to feel as though their future was slim. Just look at her. She was someone who cooked, when Taeyeon was aspiring to be a lawyer. Would they think her career was simply a hobby? It wasn’t like she could tell them that actually inherited so many shares for different companies, not needing to even lift a finger. Truthfully, Jessica wanted to start another business in the future; however, she still didn’t know what so she was taking her time to think about it. She wasn’t contented with her life, but she also want to enjoy her life now and work in the kitchen, which she loved.

“I real---” Before Jessica could finish or even begin, she felt Taeyeon’s lips on her cheek so she looked at the girl, who was know smiling sheepishly at her. “You just kissed me, right?” Because she couldn’t believe that the girl initiated it. Even though it was just on the cheek, for Taeyeon to do this, the blonde was elated, washing all her insecurities away.

“I told you to wait for me, right?” Taeyeon looked down.

Not being able to hide her smile, the blonde just flashed it brightly at her girlfriend; she found this side of Taeyeon really adorable. Baby steps, right? That was what she was doing. Despite having experienced most there was to experience in a relationship, she was still finding moments like these; never in her life now would she thought she’d still be in such a pure relationship. “A kiss on the cheek is fine. I’ll take them,” she said while giggling as she pulled the girl in for a hug, she just couldn’t contain herself. The blonde felt a pair of hands rested on her back, giving her warmth.

“I’ll see you tomorrow,” Taeyeon said before she pulled away from the kiss, and then exiting the car, which Jessica followed to help her girlfriend with her things.

There really wasn’t anything to worry about. Taeyeon would introduce her to her parents when she was ready and sorted her feelings. For now, she only needed to take in every great thing about this relationship, cherishing small moments like this.

“What should I give Taeyeon as a graduation present?” Jessica asked Tiffany, who was busy preparing their order for the next delivery. Since Tiffany was more hands-on at their restaurant, whilst Jessica did most of the cooking, the former would always handle paperwork since Jessica never liked being in a small office, needing to deal with stacks of papers. One day, she knew she would, but this was her time to not worry about anything. That was just never her so she let her best friend do all the work, which Tiffany never complained about since she was also very business-minded

“What did you get on your graduation?” Tiffany asked; her eyes were still on the computer, rereading everything, making sure that she didn’t miss on any order. Since their delivery comes twice a week, it wasn’t a problem if their produce was still high, but there was no room for error right now.

“A car and a flat in New York,” Jessica said, sighing. It wasn’t like she could just give Taeyeon something like that. There was just no way since they were just not in that level yet. It wasn’t like she minded it, but it would be too much of a burden on her girlfriend’s part if she gifted her with something expensive, especially a property. She thought that if Taeyeon was done, figuring out what she truly wanted in life, it would be just a burden if they parted ways. This realization stung a little since she was obviously falling way too deep and way too fast, but the fear of being let go or simply experimented with clouded her. Sure, she knew Taeyeon was not that type of person, but her overactive mind couldn’t help but think of the possibilities. “You know I can’t give her that. That will just be too weird. And imagine dating someone for more than a month and they give you a car, what the hell will you think? Scary, right?”

Tiffany shrugged. “Some people get married with just knowing each other for a month.”

Jessica stomped her foot. “But still! Just no!” She then scratched her head vehemently; her face was distorted in irritation directed towards herself. “I just don’t know what to get her!”

“Give her your villa then. She seems to like that,” Tiffany was nonchalant about it.

Jessica grunted at her best friend. “You’re not helping!”

“I’m serious though. Aside from your cooking, that was the only thing I saw she really liked.” Tiffany sighed as she finally looked at Jessica, who was now frowning. “Well, what do you give when the girl has everything? What do you like receiving, Jessica? You have everything already, so is there anything you want for your birthday?” Now that the blonde paused and thought about it, there wasn’t really anything she wanted for her birthday; especially from other people since she was the type to purchase what she wanted. “See? Isn’t it hard?”

Not being able to come up with anything, Jessica sighed. If she couldn’t come up with something, she would obviously be in the book of worst girlfriends - if they have one - and she didn’t want that.

“Don’t tell me you’re actually considering it?!” Tiffany wore a surprised look on her face; her eyes were wide open.

Not knowing what her best friend was talking about, Jessica cocked her head to the side as she  looked at her. “Huh?”

“The cabin! You’re not giving it to her, are you!?” She asked with bewilderment in her eyes.

“No!” Jessica said sternly. “My grandparents in heaven will haunt me.” Was Tiffany on crack to even think that she would do something stupid? Sure, she was falling madly in love with Taeyeon, but there was just no way she would give that place to anyone.  Not to Taeyeon. Not to her parents. It was just that a chunk of her childhood was there and memories of her grandparents lingered.

“Okay, good.” Tiffany then went back to working. “Just ask her what she wants. I think that’s the best thing to do. Now, can I go back to work? I’m pretty busy, you know?” She then threw her a look. “Go back to the kitchen where you belong, woman.”

Jessica rolled her eyes at her best friend. Sometimes, she wondered if Tiffany was bipolar, really, the girl could be serious then not in just a snap of a finger. “I’m actually done now,” Jessica said. With the present still on her mind, she then asked, “Did you get her anything?” Since Tiffany loved shopping, she would actually come up with different reasons to buy things. Sure, she was business-minded and should be mindful of her expenditures, but that wasn’t the case since she got everything she wanted since she was a child; that just couldn’t be changed since her best friend’s a trust fund baby; although, Jessica was as well, and even Taeyeon. That was the very reason why this was hard since she a was always surrounded by the same people; those who already had everything money could buy.

“I bought a bracelet the other day when I was at Harry Winston,” her best friend answered; her eyes were still glued on the monitor; her voice was nonchalant. Obviously, Tiffany had no sense on how much time and effort for an average person had to do in order to even considering on buying a mere bracelet from the store. But then again this was the same girl who gave her a pair of diamond earrings for twenty-first birthday last year. Just months ago, Taeyeon gave her a high-end watch as well for her birthday. That was why she thought of giving her something like a jewelry; that was the only thing she was leaning towards to, and now Tiffany stole the idea and bought it. Technically, Tiffany didn’t really steal the idea. But still. Now, she really was back to square one! She would definitely not buy a ring, that would just be too much, and creepy at the same time. Maybe a necklace? Or a nice bag? What do people gift girlfriends nowadays anyway? Especially girlfriends who were younger and was rich? It wasn’t like Jessica could just say they could get whatever Taeyeon wanted because that just made it seem like she was some sugarmama or some sort; then again, buying something expensive was also a characteristic of that. It just sounds better when it’s premeditated, unlike simply saying ‘I’ll buy whatever you want, Honey’.

“Can you please stop sighing in my office?” She then gestured her hands, waving them a little, gesturing for Jessica to exit. “Shoo.”

Like she would leave Tiffany’s office with how her friend asked her. Never. She didn’t follow what Tiffany asked, and then asked, “On your birthday, what do you want?”

“A really nice bag from Cartier or Jimmy Choo.” She didn’t even pause to think; it was as though she was already ready to be asked this. But then again, Jessica knew that her best friend was the type to have a wish list every year, and, to be honest, she actually preferred it that way so it would be easier for her to purchase the present - sometimes even presents.

“But you’re you. You’re not Taeyeon,” Jessica pointed out.

Tiffany then looked up; her eyes meeting the blonde’s. “Honey, if I was Taeyeon, we wouldn’t be together.” She finished with a hysterical laugh, as though she told the best joke.

Rolling her eyes, “Funny,” she answered. “But really, help me! What do you get someone that has everything?”

“She’s your girlfriend. Now think about what she’d want. Maybe it wouldn’t even be something you can buy because we all know she already has everything. So why bother getting her something she, herself, can get?”

Well, the blonde never thought about it like that since she thought the younger crowd liked everything new. Something she couldn’t buy, eh? But what would one thing Taeyeon would want that couldn’t be bought? Not coming up with an answer, she sighed as she exited the office since she had to go pick Taeyeon up since she promised to meet up with the girl. What kind of a girlfriend was she, she thought. There was just no way she couldn’t come up with an appropriate present for the person she was with now.

She knew deep in her heart that had it been Tiffany needing the present, she wouldn’t have troubles with picking. But, then again, they had known each other for years and they even lived together in New York and in Seoul. She and her new girlfriend were at the stages where they were  still getting to know each other. Although, that wouldn’t stop her from getting Taeyeon something for finishing high school. She had until tomorrow to come up with a present. If not, Tiffany and Narsha would make fun or her until she died, and she didn’t want that - she wouldn’t allow it.

“Are you sure you’re fine with just the two of us? You wouldn’t see your friends much,” Jessica said as she looked at Taeyeon. Her girlfriend nodded as she beamed a smile at her direction; she tightened the grip she had on Jessica’s hand, telling the older one that it was indeed fine. “Well, do you want to play something?”

Taeyeon ended up giggling. “Are you ready to waste money here again?”

Well, little did Taeyeon know, Donghae already told his employee that they would help Jessica win by rigging everything. Of course she paid in advance for everything that she might take and more, so regardless, Donghae had no problem of rigging things a little to making her look better in her girlfriend’s eye since he made good profit from it anyway. “Just for you, I’ll win everything.”

“Then let’s go!” Taeyeon started walking towards one of the booths.

If there was something Taeyeon would want from this world that the chef could get, what would it be? This question had been in Jessica's mind for awhile now and she couldn't get rid of it. Why must it be hard? She closed her eyes as she sighed, waiting for the traffic light to turn green. When she opened her eyes, she remembered this place. It was the carnival she took Taeyeon to before; it was where she showed her girlfriend a really embarrassing side of her, she blushed at the thought.

Maybe it wouldn't be bad to take Taeyeon there and get her some prizes? But the problem was, she was never the type to be good at games, so she was bound to make a fool of herself. There was a smirk on her face, remembering that her girlfriend mentioned they were going to the carnival as a celebratory gathering with other students and their friends and family.  It was her alma mater so she knew how things worked, and this thing was pretty common as it would also help with the fundraisers; she was actually the one who started it. Maybe showing her good side to Taeyeon wouldn't hurt; at least this would make the younger girl think that she wasn't so lame after all.

The light turned green and so she started to drive, on her way to Taeyeon's school. Later tonight, she wouldn't mind inviting her former friend to a drink so he could help her with this plan.

Since Taeyeon was only able to bring two people to her matriculation ceremony - it had always been so restricted to only having two attendees per student - Jessica was stuck at home, waiting for the bouquet of flowers she had ordered. Even if her plan was to only get Taeyeon some prizes from the carnival later tonight, she didn't want to meet the girl empty handed.

As she got ready, she finally receive a text from Donghae, telling her that his staff already knew what to do if she showed up.

I'll see you at seven, right? <3

Yup! I'll be there in an hour. <3

You could've gone to the ceremony, you know? ><

I didn't want to take the moment from you.

If I used being the former president card...

Plus, that will mean I’d have to make a speech.

Not just that, teachers will talk to me.

I don't know what your friends would think of me.

An opportunist! :D

They would've understand.

And true. I wouldn’t want you bored.

I need to get ready.

Makeup artist and stylist are here now. ><

My place at seven. <3

Taeyeon already had eight stuffed animals that Jessica won for her as they sat next to her as she eat a hotdog. There was something fishy here since the last time they were here, her girlfriend couldn’t even win one item. Knowing her girlfriend, she must have practiced or paid them off, which Taeyeon found adorable, making her appreciate having the chef in her life.

“What do you want to do next?” Jessica asked as she flashed her a smile.

“Let’s ride the ferris wheel,” she said as she gathered her things.

Jessica nodded. “Sure. But we won’t see much since it’s already night time.”

“We can still see the lights,” she answered. She just wanted to be alone with Jessica as much as she could. She didn’t want to be the clingy type; however, she couldn’t help but want to spend so much time with her girlfriend. Thinking about it now, her friends always warned her about getting into a relationship as her circumstances were a bit different - it had always been.

“So have you decided on which pre-law school are you attending?” Jessica asked as she helped Taeyeon carry half her things with one hand, whilst grabbing her girlfriend’s hand with the other.

Which pre-aw, eh? Taeyeon closed her eyes and sighed inwardly, trying to gather her thoughts together, when she opened her eyes, she looked at the hand in hers, if she decided on pre-law, she wouldn’t be able to do this with Jessica anymore, and she hated the idea. “I’m still undecided,” she answered; this was the truth. She would be able to go to a prestigious law school or a private university known for their business program. There was no way her family would allow her to attend law school and still keep dating Jessica. Their deal with her was that if she wanted to go to law school, she needed to find a lover, gender didn’t even matter, who would be willing to run their business since she was the only heir to their fortune.

“I thought you want to be a lawyer?” Jessica asked as she stepped in the ride first.

“I’m somewhat thinking of doing business as well.”

“Oh?” Jessica raised a brow at her girlfriend since this was the first time Taeyeon ever mentioned it. “I could’ve sworn I was expecting a lawyer of a girlfriend so whenever we get in trouble, you’d be there to bail us out,” she joked, giggling after.

Taeyeon giggled as well. “You think you’ll need legal representation in the future? What illegal matter are you going to do? I think I should rethink my choices,” she joked.

“Woah!” Jessica exclaimed as she raised her hands before her. “So little faith in me! I was thinking, how about if someone tries to sue us instead? For, like, food-poisoning? Or a slip incident.”

“Don’t you have your parent’s law firm for that?” Which reminded Taeyeon that there was that business as well that Jessica would one day inherit. But for someone who wasn’t a lawyer that would be impossible. “What are you going to do with that in the future?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

She shrugged. “Well, if they retired?"

Jessica laughed. “That’s such a long time from now. I might not even be here, so why worry?”

What Jessica said was true since her parents were still in their mid-forties. They still had twenty years before they retire.  “It’s good to think about it in advance sometimes,” Taeyeon said.

“Well, there are so many things that might happen in the future. But if you’re asking me if this happens today, like they just want to give it to me, I will simply sell it.” She shrugged. “Sure, the law firm is my parents’ legacy, but what can I do with their legacy when I don’t have the power to run it? Someone out there will want to own it, you know?”

“I guess,” Taeyeon said. There was that option as well, but that didn’t apply to Taeyeon’s circumstances. Her grandfather built their hotel chain, and there was just no way she would be able to let it go.

“Again, things can happen in the future. I mean, if we’re still together then, you’ll be there to continue on their legacy,” Jessica smiled at her. “I know it’s a long time going on.” True, there was no way telling the future and they might break up, but Taeyeon wouldn’t want that. She would want to hold on to their relationship as much as she could until Jessica would get sick of her. Even though she didn’t want to state that, there was just no way she could predict anything so it was possible. “I’m not saying we’re breaking up, okay? It’s just that, it’s a possibility. We’re still on the early stages, and this is your first relationship. So don’t frown,” Jessica said as she held Taeyeon’s chin with the tip of her fingers.

“I understand,” she said as she smiled softly in response.

“Good. I mean, what if you wake up one day, you realize that you’re really not into girls? I just really want you to not be restrained because of this.” Jessica’s voice was mellow as though trying her best to convey her feelings weren’t show her distrust.

This wasn’t something Taeyeon wanted for Jessica to say. “I’m really…” Taeyeon paused. She didn't want to seem as though she was uncertain, but being in her first relationship gave her girlfriend every doubt possible. What could she do to reassure Jessica that their relationship was actually permanent? Knowing that Jessica thought of this actually didn't sit well with Taeyeon; however, she knew that nothing she could say would ease anything since even she was unsure. She was simply not the type to lie, but at the same time she knew that she loved Jessica, and that was a great factor in this. She knew she was serious in this relationship as she was even planning on taking over their business, not wanting to come a lawyer anymore just to be with the chef. What was more important anyway? Should she pursue her dreams or should she stay with Jessica? She could only hope to have both, but she knew full well that was impossible.

"It's really fine," Jessica held her hand a bit tighter. "We all go through a phase when we're soul searching, you know?"

Taeyeon felt relieved as the person she loved was considerate; she didn't even know if she could be that type of person, but regardless she was thankful to having Jessica in her life and she planned to keeping this long term. She wanted to say that to Jessica, but she knew even if she did, what assurance did she have to prove that?

"I just want you to know that I'm very serious in this relationship," Jessica said with a soft smile on her face as she reached for Taeyeon’s hand.

“Thank you.” Taeyeon couldn’t help but smile. “I’m feel the same.” She knew it was hard to believe since she was just a young girl - a teenager. Would Jessica even believe that she was serious? Maybe if she introduced the chef to her parents as her girlfriend that would help their relationship, her doubts would vanish by then, right? It wasn't like Taeyeon intended to hide Jessica forever anyway. She just wanted to sort her course first before making the arrangements for their meeting. What would her parents say when she introduced a girl to them as her lover? Sure, they had a deal that she could pick whoever she wanted as long as that person wanted to take over their business and was fit or she could simply take over, or she could do just that.

She watched as Jessica looked out the window, enjoying the nice view of the sail boats and ships at one side and the carnival at the other. It would've been perfect had Jessica been a business-minded person; she could take over her family's hotel chain, whilst Taeyeon could be the one to take over the law firm; however, Jessica wasn't that person. If Jessica was, she wouldn't fall in love with her. Noticing the slight gap between where she sat and Jessica's, she closed the distance as she scooted over. She laid her head on Jessica's shoulder. "I had fun."

"That's great." Taeyeon could notice the content in Jessica's voice.

"You surprised me with all these prizes, actually," Taeyeon said, causing Jessica to laugh a little, trying to covering the nervousness she felt. Taeyeon noticed it; although, she didn't mention the fact that she figured out that her girlfriend probably bought the prizes ahead of time or something along those lines because she was thankful. It only told her that Jessica cared for her enough to do so. Moments like this made her want to confess her love, but not being able to sort what she wanted in life always caused her to hesitate. If she told Jessica her feelings, she was almost positive that Jessica would be happy, but to Taeyeon, this just meant she would keep Jessica for a really long time - for the rest of her life, even. It might be because this was her first relationship, but she always wanted to love one person and she could say she found true love. Was this too ideal?

"Taeyeon, don't you need to pass your driver's test?"

Bursting her personal bubble, Taeyeon then said, "Well, yeah. I don't want to be driven around when I'm a freshman."

"Want me to teach you?"

"I don't see why not?" Why worry about the future? She had a little bit of time to enjoy. Why not do so? She should just do as her friends told her: Stop and smell the roses.

******

"So, do you know which university are you going to enroll to?" UI asked Taeyeon as she sat on the loveseat in the girl's room. "I mean, to be honest, I'm happy that you're considering going to business school; Seohyun and I will be there," she said with a frown on her face. "But I really want you to be happy so despite secretly praying that we'll be together again, I'm also hoping you find whichever path you want to take."

Taeyeon sighed. "You know, I don't have any issues with not studying business. I mean, wouldn't I be able to help more people when I take over the company? I'll be able to donate so much money to charity or even build my own."

"But? It seems to me you're hesitant."

"Well, what if Jessica breaks up with me?" This had always been bugging her. Her girlfriend was older than her, and she always had to do baby steps when with the girl, wouldn't the older of the two get sick of her eventually? This always caused turmoil in her mind, not allowing her to stay at ease.

"Didn't we tell you to stop and smell the roses, Taeyeon?" UI said as she crossed her arms on her chest. "There's no way in hell will you be able to assure you'll be together for a long time."

"Exactly!"

"Then take law if you're so worried about something so petty."

"What do you mean petty? Don't you ever worry if Wooyoung will just be tired and give up?" She asked with a frown on her face.

UI sighed. "You know, I totally understand why you're worrying, but then, do you really think Jessica would be the type to walk away? If so, why are you with her?"

"I know Jessica won't. But we don't know about the future. What if I try to sacrifice my law career to be with her, but we ended up not seeing each other eye to eye?"

"First of all, Jessica won't like the fact that you'll give up your dream for her. Didn't you tell me that she didn't listen to her parents and studied culinary instead?" UI asked. That was true. If Jessica found out that she was even contemplating on her career choice, she would probably be disappointed in her. But if she did study law, she wouldn't be able to be with Jessica. "I've known you since first grade, so I know how your brain works. You try to plan everything. You go on this stupid schedule you set for yourself. Things don't always happen as you expect, Taeyeon."

"I know that. But I try to stay close to it as possible."

"You have Jessica for example. You never planned on falling madly in love with someone, yet here you are, in love and even considering on switching everything just for her. Well, I guess it's really not just for Jessica, but more so for yourself."

"I really don't mind taking over the business. Really," Taeyeon said, trying to convince herself in the process. Maybe by hearing her own voice, it would make her decision making easier. "I fear that Jessica would leave me."

"So you want to do everything you can to not be the reason to not cause that?" Taeyeon nodded as she had no words to say since her best friend already covered everything. "Maybe your parents will listen to you when they meet Jessica. I'm sure they'll like her."

"There's no reason not to like Jessica. Even though she inherited all her grandparents' assets, she doesn't go around spending it. She doesn't even have a vice. She's wonderful, so what's not to like?"

UI laughed. "Taeyeon, we aren't inquiring about your views of her. You're biased since you're the girlfriend."

But it wasn't just her biased views. From what she heard from Tiffany, Jessica inherited so much from her grandfather that she and maybe three more generations of her family could sit and they were still taken cared of. Tiffany told her that her girlfriend's grandfather was an investor in many different groups, owning shares from major companies from malls to electronic companies to automobile manufacturers. If that was another person, they wouldn't be working at a restaurant. They would just enjoy life, but, then, whatever Jessica did was fun at its own right. Jessica wasn't the type to spend her money on shopping or gambling, so maybe that was why she was brave enough to not be a lawyer and became a chef instead.

But that wasn't the point. The point now was that her parents would love Jessica for whoever she was, not for how much money and investments she had. "Even still. Don't you think Jessica's likable? You, as a person who met her a couple of times, don't you think it's easy to like Jessica?"

"She is really nice. I like her a lot. But the point is, if your parents like Jessica, will you enroll as a business student or a law student?" IU asked and then continued, "You have until next week. You've been putting this off for awhile now but the deadline’s not going to change because of your lovelife."

"I know, I know. I just can't make up my mind." Wasn't it bad that she was ready to give up on her career for her girlfriend? They had only been dating for a little more than two months, and she was already at this point. What would happen if she ended up deeper in this hole? What would she do? What else would she sacrifice?

IU shrugged. "How about you try to do business for a semester and then transfer out if you decide on what you want to do?"

She actually thought about that also; however, that wouldn't work. "That won't be a good transcript then. No law school would want to take me. At least, not the law school I want."

IU grunted. They have been discussing this even before school ended; that was more than a month ago. "There's no point in trying to plan now, is there?" She looked at Taeyeon in the eyes. "What do you want to do? Let's say Jessica will be there for the long run?"

"Then I'll take over my company."

"What if you fall in love with somebody else?"

"Impossible!"

"What if you do? What if you break up and then fall in love with somebody who can't take over the business?"

"Then I'll take over. Maybe... I don't know." If it wasn't Jessica, she really didn't want to. If it wasn't her girlfriend now, they wouldn't be good enough. Jessica was the school president that revolutionized their school's system; she was admiring this president ever since she aspired to be part of the council, not knowing that she would fall in love with the same person. Maybe it was safe to say that she fell in love with her girlfriend's soul first before anything. So who else would dare replace her in Taeyeon's heart?

IU rolled her eyes. "So you're telling me that you're picking whoever you love over your own dreams, right? Then what are you so worried for now?"

"But the thing is, the only love I have in mind is Jessica, okay?"

"Okay. Maybe you should try talking to Jessica about it? She might have a solution for this."

Taeyeon shook her head. "No. I can't. I'll seem very dependent; I don't want that." That would be the last thing she wanted. Her girlfriend was already considerate enough to take their relationship slowly since it was her first and a complete novice, why would she try to burden her with more?

"How about taking law now, and switch over to business if you end up wanting to do so?" IU suggested. "You can't transfer from business to law, but law to business seems doable, right?"

"I never thought of that," Taeyeon confessed. "That's actually not a bad idea."

"I'm so smart!"

"Maybe the reason I didn't think of that is because my parents will end up trying to set me up on dates." She remembered that they mentioned it before. Once she was in college, they would start looking for someone for her. That wouldn't be a good idea.

"Well, try introducing Jessica to your parents, make them think she'll be good for your business."

"And lie to my parents?"

"Just a little bit! If you break up with Jessica, you'll end up on dates anyway. If you don't then you can transfer." IU explained.

"That's… better, I guess."

"Duh," IU said. "Plus, you're still studying pre-law anyway so you can transfer most of your credits to business for your prerequisite."

If she introduced her girlfriend to her parents now would stop them from introducing her to other people, who might potentially be great at business. She should do this as soon as possible, and maybe if she could solidify her relationship with Jessica, she would be able to make a decision about her future; she knew she wanted to be a lawyer; however, she was torned between her dream and love.

She knew Jessica was worth every sacrifice, but would she be happy with this? Ever since she had been with Jessica, she couldn't recognize herself enough just like when she got jealous when Minyoung was around; or even the fact that she didn’t follow her itinerary anymore; now, she was willing to give up on her dream just so she could be with the older girl. Never in her life did she expect that she could be this weak. Was she showing weakness by picking Jessica over what she wanted in life? Not knowing the answer, Taeyeon just sighed as she looked at the pile of prizes Jessica won, or should she admit her girlfriend bought them. She closed her eyes, asking herself one question: why was it hard to know if a relationship could last for a long time?
