A Baker Gets Wet

The sun beat down onto my , as I stood by the pool side watching people cool off in the clear water. In the corner of my vision, I could see a group of girls about my age, maybe younger, eyeing me. They were talking to each other frantically and giggling, but I couldn't hear a thing because of all the screaming kids around. The shades I was wearing slipped down to the bridge of my nose a little, when I turned to look at them. I gave them a crooked smile and they all squealed and giggled making me smirk. It was getting too hot to bare just standing there, so I decided to hop into the pool for a second. I crouched down and entered the soothing liquid; dunking my torso into the water so that only my head was above the water, I stood there for a minute or two. I pulled my shades off and placed them on the edge of the pool wall and quickly dunked my head. Emerging from the water, again I heard the squeals, and I didn't have to look to see that they were checking me out. I swung my hair and I felt droplets of water slide down my abs as I resumed my former position onlooking the swimmers in the pool.
"Hey, Donghae, don't give those girls a heart attack, alright?" I felt someone slap a hand onto my shoulder and I turned to see my buddy Taecyeon grinning like a fool. I scoffed,
"Please..I wouldn't be talking." of course I was jealous that his abs were more 'chocolate' than mine were, but that guy works out like a maniac. Plus, he got like every girl in here running around after him..That is, if they weren't chasing Kyuhyun, Siwon, Jay, Joon, Taeyang, Jonghyun, Kikwang, or me. We ran a pretty good business here; Taecs dad runs the place, and since we all pretty much new each other from school, we got along pretty well. The lifeguard babes here were smoking hot, and I'd tap any one of them, well, the ones that I haven't gotten yet.
"Hey, don't burden yourself. I know you try so hard to get them to chase after you..but, you'll never be as fine as me!" he laughed and I punched his shoulder.
"You wish! You know that every girl chasing you is secretly going after me, right?" his face immediately got serious again and he straightened up,
"Really?" it was my turn to laugh. He looked so serious about it!
"Hahahaha! Dude, chill out! I was playing..I've got enough of my own!"
At this he smirked,
"I knew you were kidding, I just wanted to make you laugh. You know, for those drooling girls." he nodded towards the corner and I could swear most of them had bloody noses. Haha!
"Damn, they must be dying. I know I'm hot and all, just..damn. Hah!" I rubbed the back of my neck, and sent a smoldering look to the last girl that was sitting up- not for long as she saw me and fell down with the others.
"Hahah! Good one.." Taecs laughter reached me and I turned around.
"Oh, you're still here?" I asked.
"Yeah man! You're supposed to be at the other station like, 5 minutes ago!" he pointed to where Kikwang was waving frantically. Aish, I did it again. I loped over and ran a hand through my hair,
"Aye, bro..sorry, again." I gave him a sheepish smile, and he just flicked my forehead.
"Just because your my hyung, doesn't mean anything. Don't do it again, or else we'll make everybody lose their jobs!" he frowned at me and sped towards his next station. It's true, the lifeguards constantly switch positions so that we don't get tired of staring at the same place for a long time. I was the one constantly holding up the line when I got distracted by some things, more like, some ONES, and I was sorry about it but it's not my fault that I can't help myself.
I adjusted the rescue tube around my waist and stood there: feet shoulder-width apart and relaxed. Nothing usually happened here, but the pay was awesome, and you get to meet some of the hottest people ever.
I watched as a little toddler with bouncy blonde pigtails bounced around in a dinosaur ring- it reminded me of Jonghyun and I couldn't help but smile. The little girl squealed in delight as her older brother tugged her around the pool. It made me miss my younger sister; just thinking about it, I felt a pang in my heart and the smile slipped from my face. I felt my eyes burn, but I quickly blinked the years away; good thing I was wearing shades today. She was my only weakness, she was the only one that could make me laugh with just one look. I missed her so much, but she died when she was 12, at the lake house where we were on family vacation, by drowning. So, why was I doing a lifeguard job? Around water? Simple, it reminded me of her, and I loved every little thing about her.
I could remember the time that she kept nagging me to fix her iPod that was insanely cracked along the bottom of it. I had eyed the piece of technology and wondered if we could replace it or not. Later on, I ended up buying her a new one and I will never forget the look on her face. So happy and joyful, it was mixed with thankfulness and the love only a sister could give. I shook my head, ridding of the thoughts..
Second reason? Jonghyun..he pulled me here telling me that it would help us get over the fact that she died in water and how much we used to love to swim. I sighed. Jonghyun was the only family I have left..unless there's like, some crazy aunt out there spinning pottery that I have no clue about. Thinking about it, at that time, he was the one that had acted like the older brother. Telling me that we'd get over her death, just like we did our parents. I promised him I would, and eventually I did, but it took me far longer than him; since I was closer to her.
Now, Jonghyun and I would climb a mountain every Summer to her and our parents' graves and pray. We'd do a little ritual, go home, drink ourselves to bed and the next day resume our normal lives with bigass hangovers. That really isn't healthy, but on that day I just can't feel the need to be happy any more. I mean seriously, 3 family members gone. Just like that. One car crash, and a flip of a canoe in the middle of the lake was all it took. Life is so ing unfair. Thinking about this I subconsciously pouted; sticking my bottom lip out and staring at nothing.
Thats probably why I didn't notice the hand that were wrapped around my waist from the beginning. The tightened as they asked for attention and I immediately knew who it was before I even turned around. Sighing once more I grabbed the hands and firmly detached them away from my body. I turned around to see that my prediction was correct- Hyuna, the biggest on the female lifeguard team was standing there with, probably the fakest smile on her face. She reached one of her hands towards my face and I clenched my hands preventing the urge to smack them away. She traced my jawline and stopped at my pouting lip that was still protruding. She tapped my soft bottom lip and I wanted to bite her finger off so badly.
"What do you want." I spit venom at her. She evilly laughed when she answered,
"Baby, you already know what I want.." she whispered in my ear and I couldn't help but feel my s harden. Damn, this . She's probably the only girl I wouldn't lay in a life time. I pushed her away from me as gently as I could, but with the anger building up inside of me, my hand slipped and it scratched her arm. Just one, single line, that didn't even bleed, it was just bright pink. But Hyuna took the chance to shove herself back onto me,
"I see you like it rough. Come to me, and you'll get what you want."
"Hyuna, o-"
I stopped midway when I saw the boss appear by the poolside. He didn't see me, and I swiveled around to stare at the swimmers once again. My heart was pounding in my chest, 'Please, please, don't have seen me!' I mentally prayed. I was on my second strike this week, and I really didn't want to be fired for not paying attention. I really did love this job, the employees here were practically like family. Well, the guy team for sure was, excluding Jonghyun, since he was blood related whether I liked it or not.
Though none of us admitted it willingly, we knew that most of the members were gay. Either that or they played both way. Like me, I'm bi, but I haven't laid a guy in years. Hm. Maybe the guys should go clubbing together? That'd be fun, we haven't hung out since last month. Maybe tomorrow, it's still early today, and my shift doesn't end til 8. I felt someone tap back. This time more agitated than the first time, I turned around so fast my eyes were still blurry, focusing on the person in front of me.
It was a girl with green blue hair- Lime. I was so close to smacking her because I had thought it was Hyuna, but now that I look for her she seems to be gone. Hallelujah.
My eyes darted at Lime, and I allowed a quick smile,
"Hi, Lime." I slept with her like 2 weeks ago, and we haven't talked since then. Her eyes picked up from the floor, and attached to my face.
"Sup, Hae." she smacked her gum and smiled showing her perfect teeth.
"You know, this shift ends in like 30 seconds. You should go." I was about to protest when the lifeguard whistle went off, signaling the switch in positions once again. I closed my mouth and frowned, then I pointed at her and winked,
"You're good."
"In more ways than one." she smirked and with that I strolled away to my next position.
Getting there, I leaned on one leg, and I could immediately feel the stare of the girls in the corner checking out my . Sigh, people these days. I smirked to myself at the sarcasm of what I just said. I felt another tap on my shoulder and resisted the urge to flip out as I turned around. I looked down and saw a bunny. More like, Kyuhyun's bunny. All at once a smile lit my face and I hugged the air out of him.
"Minnie! I missed you~" I sang but ended up laughing at the glare he gave me.
"Donghae..I was here yesterday! Can you just tell me where Kyu is?" i crossed my arms.
"What? You didn't come see me? Psh, okay then. I dunno where your boyfriend's at." I heard him gasp and I couldn't help but giggle(tehe x) at the blush that spread over his cheeks.
"He's not my boyfriend!"
"Yet." I guffawed when he smacked my arm, and turned to walk away.
"He's in the locker room, maybe you can catch him showering." I called out and winked when he looked my way. His face was beet red as he his heel and stormed off.
"Ahhh, aigoo~. Kids these days." I wiped a tear then had built up from laughter, and hopped into the water for another swim.
