Invisible Minds
I couldn't help but stare at it. It felt so.. awkward. I had never seen another toki that looked anything like Dada. What made it more weird was that it's mouth was blue. It looked so familiar, it's like I had seen him before. That's right, Dada drew him in his sketchpad.
It looked up at me, it's eyes seemed teary. Sorry.
'It's okay.' It stared at me. You can hear my thoughts?
'I can? I can! But how is that possible? I thought-'
I got cut off by some high school kid running towards me, he yelled, 'TOTO! I'M SORRY, COME BACK HOME. PLEASE!'
It looked up at me, Sorry but Toto has to go now!', after that, he immediately ran away.
The high school kid stopped right beside me, panting, he must've been chasing that toki for a long time. He let out a big sigh and looked at me, then he turned and walk away slowly. I couldn't help but grab his arm and ask;
'Hey wait! Why was that toki running away from you?'
He stopped in his footsteps. He turned and looked at me. Eye to eye. Like as if I had said the most dumbest thing ever. He grabbed my right palm and looked at it. This time, the mark glowed half green and half blue. I tried pulling my hand away but he tightened his grip. He put his right hand next to mine;
We both had the same mark. I looked at him, he seemed equally shocked too.
'I have never seen this shade of green on my mark before.. It has always been shades of blue,' he paused for a awhile. 'You. You can see Toto? How's that possible? And you have that same my on your right palm. That could only mean that, you have a matoki too?' I nodded.
'Come with me.'
I followed him to a nearby park bench. We sat down and it was quiet for a little while, till he deicded to break the silence.
'I'm Zelo. You are?'
'Jongup.'
He looked up, 'Jongup, that's kind of unique.' He closed his eyes. I tried my best to keep my cool. I had so many questions to ask. The mark. That toki. I didn't get anything that was going on.
He opened his eyes and looked at me, 'I bet you're dying to know why you could see Toto and why your mark is glowing like that.' I looked at my palm and nodded slightly.
'Well,' He turned to face me, 'I'll tell you.'
'I'm sure you're familiar with your mark right? Your toki must've told you that the mark only exists for people with matokis. Well, I have one too.'
'I know that.' I grumbled.
'Hey hey, dont get all mad at me now. Listen okay? You must be wondering why your hand started glowing blue. You must be thinking, I thought my mark could only glow shades of green. Well this part is a little complicated, so listen hard alright?'
I didn't move.
'Let me ask you first then, do you know why your mark glows green?' I shook my head. 'That's because of your matoki. His mouth is green isn't it? Our marks will glow shades of the colour of our matoki's mouth. For example, my toki, Toto, his mouth is blue. So my mark will glow shades of blue.'
'That's not the point Z-Za-'
'Zelo.' He corrected.
'Zelo.' I rolled my eyes. 'That's not the point. I know all this. I'm just dont get why my palm glows half green and half blue.'
'That's because you've met another toki. This only happens when you meet another toki for the first time. It was like this when I met the others, but after awhille the mark started glowing it's shades of blue again.'
'Others? They are others out there?'
'Of course there are, you think you're the only one out here with a toki?' He laughed.
There were others out there? The mark on my hand slowly went back to it's shades of green. The mark then disappeared. Dada must've went back to sleep. I looked at Zelo's palm and his mark went back to it's shades of blue.
'Hmm. Well I should get going, see you soon?' Zelo said.
'Wait. Why was that toki running away from you?' I asked.
Zelo looked up, closed his eyes, and looked at me.
'You should leave,' He said worriedly.
'What? Why?'
'Just leave Jongup.' Zelo's voice got more serious.
Zelo clenched his first, his eyes locked in one direction. Suddenly, his palms started glowing blue, just like the one that was on Toto.
'Zelo, what's going?!'
'TOTO NOW!'
Toto suddenly appeared, he was headed right at me. I ran. I ran as fast as I could. Toto, knowing that he couldn't keep up with me, started jumping. Left, right, left, right. Each time he jumped, he got closer and closer. I thought only Dada could do that! I sped up, running with all my energy. Suddenly, I felt a paw grab my left shoulder. It pulled me back and blue fog started appearing around me. I turned around only to see Toto glowing a bright blue. There was a bright flash that blinded my vision for a few seconds before I could see again. I wasn't at the park anymore;
Toto had jumped with me to another place.
