Chapter 8
It started in the Bathroom
The silence afterwards felt like an eternity, but it only lasted a few seconds. The sound of birds tweeting stopped and the creek's gurgle was also diminishing in noise. "i kinda feel that time has stopped" mumbled Lay more to himself than to Kris. Parallel to Lay who was also staring at the distant horizon, Kris replied, "it has." Lay had yet to process what Kris meant by that when Kris told Lay to look at the creek. Lay's eyes widened, mouth gaped, as he saw the droplets of water that ceased to move above the pebbles and the fish that were flying through the water just minutes ago, were now stationary. Lay hastily stood up and spun a whole 360 degrees, observing everything as quickly as possible. There was no wind. No sound. Lay tilted his head towards the sky to see birds floating in midair, wings wide open. Hundreds of thoughts ran in Lay's mind. Is the world coming to an end? Wait where am I in the first place? I was in a strange candy shop just awhile ago. Kris walked up behind Lay and placed his chin on Lay's shoulders. Without facing Kris, Lay asked in a shaky voice, "what's going on?"
