Chapter 5

Both of you stood there, staring at each other for a few seconds before he cleared his throat, breaking the awkward situation.

".... what are you?"

You raised your eyebrow at his question.

That actually insulted you a bit.

"I think you meant who am I?"

You sarcastically correcting his sentence.

He scratched at the back of his neck and sheepishly smile at you.

"Oh I'm so sorry. It's just that I'm bad in Korean. What are you doing in duizhang's house!?"

You sighed.

"Here goes. I don't know. He found me."

His face were like what-are-you-kidding-me.

He was about to say something until another person came into the house.

Now this guy is different.

He's not that tall yet not that short, compared to you.

"Eh? Tao-ah, who is this?"

He pointed at you.

That gesture made you slightly mad.

It's like you're not even there, he was pointing at you.

"Ehem, last time I checked, I am still alive and breathing. Talk to me like I am a person. Don't just ignore me, geez."

You crossed your arms in protest and walked towards the kitchen, turning off the cd player that was playing Two Moons in the process.

The two guys were then joined by another 3 more who suddenly came and made themselves feel at home.

They were making a lot of noises when you were in the kitchen.

You blew your strands of hair that stuck on your face in frustration.

You were cooking yourself dinner and was irritated by the fact that 5 unknown guys were making a mess that you've cleaned the whole day.

Suddenly your ears perked up at the only familiar voice who entered.

You rushed out from the kitchen, and out towards the living room.

Kris came in, sweating and at the same time carrying bags of plastic filled with ingredients.

You rushed to his side and took the bags from him.

The other guys who were making noise a few seconds ago suddenly quiet down, looking at the scene in front of their eyes.

Kris seems to be surprised that you're helping him despite having his friends around.

".. guys, uhm, this is Jae In. Jae In, this is EXO-M."

Your eyes widened at the word EXO-M.

You burst into laughter.

The guys including Kris looked at you, quite confused.

"EXO-M ? Really?"

You turned to Kris and pointed to them.

"Then you guys must be some super-"

You stopped mid-sentence after seeing Kris's serious face.

"..stars."

You gulped.

You take a short glance at the guys who claimed to be EXO-M on the couch and quickly retreat to the kitchen.

You put the bags onto the table and knocked your head multiple times.

"Why am I stupid. Stupid stupid stupid stu-"

You were surprised when suddenly a hand appeared out of nowhere stopped you.

You turned and backed away a little.

It was Kris, who was centimeters away from you.

Butterflies were suddenly fluttering everywhere in your tummy.

His stare was penetrating into your eyes.

You turned away and released your hand from his grasp.

"...H-hi?"

You said oh so suddenly.

Kris suddenly chuckled and smiled.

"Hi. Now help me make dinner for them. Questions later, I promised."

You bit your lip and nodded.

You peeked outside the kitchen, hiding and peeking out again.

One of the guys saw you and smiled.

He waved and you blushed.

You hid back and shook your head.

You giggled and went to help Kris make dinner for his friends aka EXO-M. 

You assigned Kris to cut the vegetables while you made the broth for your kimchi stew. 

 "Hey Duizhang! Want some help ? We're bored. Well, only me."

That guy who smiled at you came into the kitchen, patted Kris's back but making you jump in the process.

Some of the broth came into contact with your arm and burned.

You shrieked in pain.

Both head turn towards you.

Kris glared at the guy.

"Chen, see what you've done. Jae In, let me see."

Chen had this guilty look and you sighed.

"It's okay, C-chen sshi. I'm fine Kris oppa."

Kris looked shocked when you called him oppa.

Your eyes widened and the situation became awkward.

".. I-I'll go and .. treat myself first."

You went towards the sink and washed the burn.

You winced in pain but quiet to not let Chen and Kris hear.

Unfortunately not quiet enough.

Chen walked towards you and grabbed you, making you sit down on the chair.

He asked Kris where his first-aid box were.

He nodded and went to take the cream.

Kris went back to complete the stew.

Chen kneeled and took your arm.

You tried to protest but he shushed you up.

He rubbed that cream on your burned spot and smiled at you.

Unknowingly you smiled back.

You stood up and thanked Chen.

"Thank you, Chen sshi. Could you help me set up the table?"

He nodded and helped you.

Soon, dinner was ready.

Kris placed the pot onto the table at the living room so everyone wouldn't have to crowd around the small table in the kitchen.

You sat in between Kris and Chen, since they are the ones whom you only knew.

You observed them one by one.

You realised that when it comes to food, all of the members were utterly silent.

They ate as if they hadn't for weeks.

You smiled at their cuteness when two of them fought over the spoon to the stew.

You uneasily glanced a look at Kris.

Kris noticed and turned to you.

You quickly dodged and looked down at your bowl.

You could hear Kris chuckling quietly to himself.

He suddenly said something in Chinese, which amazed you.

Then he switched back to korean, talking to Chen and the other one.

That spoon guy.

"Guys, introduce yourselves."

Ah, so that what he said, you thought.

You looked up and put up your face for no reason at all.

"Annyeong~ My name is Xiumin."

That spoon guy beside chen introduced himself.

You nodded.

"Ni hao, my name is Luhan."

"..Lu h-han?"

He frowned but nodded.

"Luhan. That's me."

He laughs, trying to make you smile and he succeeded.

"It's Yixing. Or Lay."

"..Lay. Nice yet simple name."

You smiled.

"Hello! My name is Huang Zitao. Or you call me Tao. Bbuing bbuing~"

You had to laugh at Tao's actions.

Tao looked super intimidating and now, he's doing aegyo.

You squealed.

"Aww kyeopta!"

You then realised what you said and cleared your throat.

You acted cold again and turned towards Chen.

"Annyeong~ Kim Jongdae at your service. Or you can call me Chen."

You waved and smiled.

You turned to Kris and he frowned.

You frowned back, waiting.

"What do you want?"

You crossed your arms, tapping them while waiting for Kris to realise.

"Well? Introduce yourself."

He looked at you as if you were talking in some foreign language.

He sighed but proceeded to do it anyway.

"I'm Kris. Happy?"

You nodded.

"Well, nice to meet everyone. You're from EXO-M. Are you guys some idols or something?"

After you asked that question, everyone bursts into laughter. 

You scratched your forehead, feeling rather out of place and confused.
