“I’m calling the doctor!”

“The doctor told me that I could come in.”

“I’m calling the police!”

“I don’t think mister police officer would kick out the only person that’s available to take care of you.”

“Who says that I don’t have anyone else?”

“Do you see another soul inside this room…?”

“I know that auntie and uncle are at home, please stop.”

Joohyun couldn’t outduel Seungwan, so she could only lie on the bed like a deflated balloon and let Seungwan move her to a more comfortable position. Her body was stiff from lying in the same position for too long, but she stubbornly refused to cooperate. Wherever Seungwan wanted to move her, she would deliberately move the other direction. Seungwan didn’t know what to do and was becoming frustrated.

“If you keep moving, then I can’t promise that I’d be only touching the appropriate parts!”

Joohyun’s eyes widened as she heard Seungwan making lewd remarks for the first time ever, and blushed instantly. Seungwan’s caught the entirety of this rare display of cuteness, and continued to tease the debilitated woman who could only resist with her feisty mouth.

“Let me feed you.”

“I don't need you to!”

“You can eat by yourself?”

“…no.”

“Let me give you a bath.”

“I don't need you to!”

“You can wash yourself?”

“Yes!”

“Then show me.”

“…”

For the next week, Seungwan insisted on squeezing beside Joohyun on her little hospital bed each night as they went to sleep, and would often put her arm around her half way. Joohyun wanted to resist, but in her state, she could barely move at all, and her efforts proved to serve no real purpose.

One night after thinking that Seungwan was already asleep, Joohyun turned her head (with great difficulty) towards Seungwan and said softly:

“If only you were like this earlier.”

What she didn’t know was that Seungwan only had her eyes closed and feigned sleep. After hearing Joohyun’s words, Seungwan smiled and said:

“I hope it’s still not too late.”

The next morning however…

“Hey scumbag! I’m guessing you have a lot to work to do at the company today again?”

“Calm down, we do have a meeting together today, but I will explain everything to Seulgi afterwards. Is that alright?”

“Why are you even asking me if it’s alright or not, what does it have to do with me!”

“Okay okay, it has nothing to do with you, but I’m certain of what I really want now. I’m almost late so I’m gonna go, wait for me to come back.”

After grabbing her bag, Seungwan looked back as she exited the door, and caught Joohyun smirking into space happily, completely different from her behaviour earlier.

Seungwan decided that it was going to be a good day – the weather was nice, her mood was up. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to say goodbye to the past and make the first leap into the welcoming future.

When she arrived at the office, the chief of the capital custody department was already waiting for her.

“Chief Lee, you’re early!”

“Tsk, when you were still under my supervision not once were you ever late.”

“Ah… haha, I’m sorry, please don’t tease me! Looks like Seulgi’s serious about this if you’re here.”

“How can I put this… your friend, she’s rich as .”

Hearing the emphasis on the last part, Seungwan knew that Seulgi must’ve put a lot of money in their company, and felt a little more guilty.

“Let’s go, she should be waiting in the meeting room already.”

When the two of them arrived at the meeting room, Seulgi was seen silently reviewing some documents. From their angle, they could see a little more than half of Seulgi’s face, and it was mesmerizing. Seungwan wanted to go inside, but was swiftly pulled back.

“That’s your friend?”

“Yeah.”

“Not your girlfriend?”

“…no.”

“So she’s single.”

“Yep.”

“Oh. I’m gonna go for it then.”

As the words were being spoken, Seungwan felt a push on her shoulder, and the person in front of her stepped inside the meeting room first.

“Nice to meet you. My name is Lee Sunmi, the chief of the capital custody department.”

“Ah, hello, I’m Kang Seulgi.”

Seulgi quickly stood up to shake hands with Sunmi, and only saw Seungwan who was trailing behind after.

But evidently it wasn’t Seungwan who gave her a surprise, it was the person who followed Seungwan.
