MosquitoWhen one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us -
The fact of the matter is, neither Seungwan or Joohyun has made any real progress moving forward.
Due to Seungwan’s caring and intimate actions at the hospital, Joohyun’s mood has lifted a little. But it would go crashing down again after Joohyun called her assistant to check on the progress of the work she had left behind –
When Seungwan said there was a lot work to do at the company, she actually meant a meeting with non other than Seulgi.
“Heh.”
Joohyun laughed at herself, it was her fault for expecting anything to change so soon. That scumbag probably wanted to take on all the work that was related to the Kangs!
At the same time in the meeting room, Seungwan suddenly felt a shiver and sneezed. She waited for the second sneeze to come out but it never did, it was hard for her to judge whether if someone was missing her or if someone was cursing her.
“Seungwan, are you cold?”
Seulgi looked at Seungwan worriedly, when she went to meet Seungwan at her office she saw that Seungwan’s hair was still wet. They had an underground parking lot at the company, what was the need for her to run out in the rain?
“I’m fine, let’s continue.”
Seungwan looked at the evaluation sheet in front of her and frowned. This was a classic “one does not realize what they’ve had until they’re gone” moment. Joohyun was a master in this field, and could’ve quickly given an analysis of the report. Even though Seungwan had a good understanding of the report, it still proved a difficult task.
Seulgi listened patiently as Seungwan strenuously finished delivering the report, she knew that it wasn’t Seungwan’s strength.
“And that would be all. My apologies, I’ve just received the report this morning.”
“It’s not your fault, you’re not usually the one in charge of reports like this one, right?”
“That’s not it, I’ve just been too busy and didn’t review thoroughly.”
“Don’t worry about it, how about we have dinner together? I don’t have anything else to do this afternoon, I can wait for you until you’re off work.”
“I can’t make it today, I have somewhere to be.”
“Then how about tomorrow?”
“…I can’t for the next two weeks.”
Seulgi finally pursed her lips.
“Are you being prevaricating with me? Do you want to avoid me that badly? Did I say something out of line while I was drunk yesterday?”
It was as if Seungwan was looking at a mirror. She couldn’t have been more familiar with Seulgi’s expression of being unable to remember a thing from the previous night despite Seulgi trying her hardest. She let out a resigned laugh while thinking about whether Seulgi and her were actually twins in another life.
“I’m not trying to avoid you, I have someone debilitated to take care of.”
“Debilitated? Who is it, do you need my help?”
“…it’s Joohyun.”
Seungwan awkwardly blinked: if Seulgi went with her then Joohyun’s condition might just worsen.
Sooyoung was right, Seungwan was indeed actively avoiding mentioning Joohyun in front of Seulgi.
First of all, she was afraid of the tension between the two of them when they’re occupying the same space. Second of all, Seungwan still could not get past the hurdle of her current and past love. Even if it was Seungwan who was “dumped” years ago, after finding out that Seulgi never actually forgot her promise with her, Seungwan felt like she was being caught cheating red handed every time someone put the names Kang Seulgi and Bae Joohyun in the same sentence.
It was also why she responded the way she did after Joohyun had made the move first and kissed her – perhaps in her subconscious, Seulgi and her has never officially broken up, but at the same time, she has taken a liking to Joohyun, making her feel like every
