You're My First Mistake

It was the first time Joohyun had gotten wounded so badly that it took some time for her body to heal. She figured out that the only way to heal was to rest and that was something she hardly did her whole life.

In the end, her life was reduced to sleeping and getting pampered by Seungwan. She had begged the younger girl to let her go home and after much consideration, Seungwave took her home but on her terms.

She tried to indulge herself in work but Seungwan was stubborn and made sure that she was miles away from anything work-related. She had to negotiate with the latter that a couple of days of rest was fine instead of an entire week.

Seungwan was working from home, and her wife was anxious about her health and decided that it was better to handle affairs from home. Joohyun was against it because it meant the latter will be working more than usual to make up for both of their absence but Seungwan was persistent.

It surprised Joohyun that Seungwan could be so caring. She had already seen some glimpses but to have Seungwan tending to her after being vivid about her feelings for her was something she could never get used to.

She was laying on the bed when Seungwan came with a box in her hands. It contained medical supplies Seungwan had bought to treat Joohyun's wound.

“Joohyun,” Seungwan called out, her attention fixed on the things inside the box, making sure that she wasn't missing everything. “Come here,” She beside Joohyun and patted the empty spot next to her, urging her to sit up.

She obliged and sat up. Seungwan took off her bandage carefully before she took a good look at her wound. “It's healing well,” Seungwan muttered to herself as she cleaned the wound carefully.

It made Joohyun giddy. Seungwan didn't know that Joohyun saw her learning from the nurse how to take care of the wound.

Joohyun just kept her gaze on Seungwan who was oblivious to Joohyun's eyes on her, the latter was always so immersed in doing her task that she never got to witness the warmth Joohyun had in her gaze.

“There, it's all set,” Seungwan mumbled, a smile spreading across her lips, proud of her work. Looking down she was met with Joohyun's dreamy eyes on her, “What?” She asked.

She dipped her head, capturing her lips, catching her off-guard, but Seungwan recovered from the sudden shock and held the latter's jaw reciprocating the older girl's actions.

“What was that for?” Seungwan questioned trying to calm down the frantic beating of her heart.

Joohyun loved doing this to her because it always surprised Seungwan. She loved seeing that flustered look on her face. It showed that Seungwan was indeed the inexperienced and younger one in their relationship. It filled her heart with endearment.

“Nothing, I just felt like kissing you,” She answered honestly, resting her head on Seungwan's shoulder.

“You have to warn me Joohyun, it catches me off-guard because we're still new to this,” Seungwan trailed off, blushing slightly.

Joohyun wasn't going to listen to her. She had to control herself a lot in the past, it got to the point that she crossed all the boundaries and kissed Seungwan. It's not the case anymore, she wasn't going to tone down her display of affection for Seungwan anytime soon.

“Hmm, I should probably give my wife a heads up before kissing her,” She teased, giving the younger girl a quick peck.

“I'm serious,” Seungwan whined.

“You have to get used to it because I am not going to stop,” She confessed as she brought her lips near Seungwan's ears. “I am starting to like the taste of your lips,” She whispered seductively. “It's addicting to kiss you.”

“We are not making babies especially when you're being like this!” Seungwan exclaimed, flinching because of the sudden change in Joohyun's behaviour.

She laughed and threw her arms around the latter, resting her chin on her shoulder. “I missed you,” She whined as Seungwan leaned back, letting her hug her properly.

“I've been home the whole day,” Seungwan trailed off, suddenly worried that she had neglected Joohyun due to her work.

“You've been working the whole day,” She put forth. “You need rest,” She muttered.

“I'm fine,” Seungwan assured, grabbing her palm and pressing kisses on her knuckles. “It's you who needs rest. Dinner is almost ready. I am just going to send this one email and then I'll call you.”

Seungwan pressed a kiss on her forehead and walked out of the room. “You're doing so many things to me all at once Seungwan,” She mumbled to herself with a grin on her face. “How am I supposed to not fall for you?”

•~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~•

She walked out not long after to see Seungwan's laptop resting on the kitchen counter with the younger girl nowhere to be seen. She looked around to see a bunch of papers and a pen on the other side of the counter as well. She sighed, knowing that Seungwan was handling not one but two people's work on her shoulders.

She walked back upstairs to see the opened door of the balcony. She raised her brow seeing the dinner being set up on the balcony but she didn't question and walked until Seungwan spotted her.

“I was about to call you,” Seungwan pulled a chair back and made her sit. “Have a seat, I'll put my things in the office and join you.”

She waited for her to come as she looked around. “Is there any special occasion?” She couldn't help but ask when Seungwan took her seat.

“I thought it'll be good to get you some fresh air,” Seungwan blurted out after some hesitation. Joohyun raised her brow seeing the raven-haired girl fidget with her fingers. She was hiding something.

“Is that all?” She asked with a smile trying to ease her nervousness. “You can tell me, don't hesitate,” She encouraged, reaching out for Seungwan's hand to squeeze it, easing out her tension.

“I just thought, maybe I should change up a little, so it'll feel different,” Seungwan muttered. “This is the closest thing we can have to a dinner date,” She spoke up shyly scratching the back of her neck.

“You're adorable and surprisingly a huge romantic,” She giggled. She couldn't help but look at her wife with endearment when she was being like this. “I thought you would be a boring egoistic brat who just cared about her work,” She teased, watching Seungwan while she prepared her dish like she always does.

“Excuse me!” Seungwan exclaimed, rolling her eyes playfully before she broke into a fit of chuckles and placed Joohyun's prepared dish in front of her.

“I'm curious about something,” She muttered. Seungwan had mentioned burying some feelings for her before. She wanted to know more about them.

“Hmm,” Seungwan hummed and insisted on asking more as she chewed on her food.

“In the hospital, that night you mentioned a dumb crush you had on me,” She put forth and saw the way Seungwan's breath hitched. “ I wanna know more about it,” She requested.

Seungwan nodded and looked up, eyes squinting as if she was trying to recollect her memories. “I don't remember any exact moment it started,” She began. “It had something to do with the day you spilled water on me and asked me to pretend that we were interested in each other,” She admitted with a nod.

“It just happened after that, obviously I was smitten by your beauty as it left me breathless every time I saw you, then your work etiquette impressed me a lot,” Seungwan added.

“So, you admit that I'm better,” She snickered, watching Seungwan roll her eyes but it shocked her when she nodded.

“In some areas you are and I'll give you that. In others not very much,” Seungwan shrugged and poured herself some wine.

“Will it be mean to say that I never paid attention to you until we signed the contract?” She asked honestly, a little guilty for being straightforward.

“Did you really have to be that honest?” Seungwan sighed, feeling a little hurt but raised her shoulders nevertheless to show that she was fine.

“You rubbed off on me, I'm picking up your habits,” She trailed off, reaching for Seungwan's hand across the table to intertwine their fingers together.

“It hit me when we met for that brunch at the stables,” Joohyun smiled as a memory flashed through her mind. It occurred to her that both of them started to feel something at the same time.

“Tell me more,” Seungwan asked, staring at her attentively as she sipped on her glass.

Joohyun removed her sunglasses and strode toward the members of Seungwan's family greeting them with a smile, a fake one, as she searched for the younger girl.

“Honey, are you looking for Seungwan?” Mrs. Son asked with a smile resting on her face and her eyebrows raised.

She nodded and looked down trying her best to look shy and feed off their delusion of her being interested in their daughter.

“She was horse riding by the stables along with Seunghee,” Mr. Son spoke with a smile.

She looked toward the stables before her mother eyed her, urging her to go there.

She walked there and from the corner of her eyes she spotted Seungwan's sister dismounting from the horse, beside her she spotted a blazer hanging from the fence.

“You came here looking for Seungwan,” Seunghee teased.

“You two can ride horses?” She asked and ignored the teasing remark, changing the topic.

“I'd say I'm still an amateur but Seungwan she's a professional at this,” Seunghee replied and showed her the safety gear she was wearing. “I need these while she doesn't,” Seunghee added.

“Is she that good?” She muttered to herself hearing a chuckle escape from the girl beside her. She couldn't even bring herself near animals and her soon-to-be wife was riding one.

“Here she comes!” Seunghee shouted, fingers pointing toward the swarm of trees.

Joohyun looked toward where she was pointing and widened her eyes, getting awestruck by Seungwan. She took a step back not realising that her eyes were glued on the latter. It felt like she was watching a scene from a movie.

Seungwan wasn't wearing any safety gear, clad in a navy blue polo shirt and some beige trouser pants, her ebony hair falling right below her shoulders and sunglasses covering her eyes but it was the sweat glistening on Seungwan's face that made her jaw drop wide open.

“She's breathtaking.”

“I know right!”

She clicked her tongue in the realisation that she said that out loud and looked down in embarrassment. She mentally cursed herself for slipping on her words this easily.

She looked up again to see that Seungwan was dismounting from the horse. She muttered a quick thanks to the helper before she ruffled her hair with her hand fixing them. She removed her sunglasses and handed them over to her sister before she grabbed her blazer and put it on.

“I haven't done this in a long time,” Seungwan revealed, fixing herself as her gaze fell upon Joohyun who immediately looked down, refusing to return the eye contact. She shrugged as her sister walked first and left them behind.

“I suppose you came here with a purpose,” Seungwan leaned forward abruptly, invading her personal space. “I think you should have a ride too,” She suggested.

“Are you out of your mind?” She asked, looking at her with widened eyes. “I'm not riding that thing.”

“Coward,” Seungwan rolled her eyes and put her hands in her pocket. “You know I am considering dropping our agreement, you're no fun.”

“Who are you calling a coward?” She stopped on her steps and looked at the younger girl who had no remorse about what she just said.

“Prove it,” Seungwan shrugged and kept walking, leaving her behind.

“I don't know how to ride one but I am not a coward.”

“I can teach you.”

Joohyun flinched when Seungwan pulled her close by the waist correcting her position, her back was pressed against Seungwan's front as Seungwan's arms were encircled around her waist holding the leash.

“Do you want to go gentle or rough?” Seungwan asked, eyes focused on the horse. “I doubt you'll go rough,” She muttered.

She turned around offended at her remarks, eyes meeting Seungwan's as she inhaled the latter's scent.

“Be as rough as you want to be.”

“Rough it is.”

She looked at Seungwan who was smiling as if she was recalling the whole scenario in her head.

“You were too cocky,” She whined at which Seungwan laughed.

“You were too rude,” Seungwan clapped back and finished her glass of wine.

She followed as Seungwan stood up to clean up and eventually it lead to her sitting on the kitchen counter while Seungwan washed the dishes. She had offered to help her but Seungwan refused.

She wrapped her arms around Seungwan's neck, pulling her close once she was finished. Seungwan raised her brows as if she was asking her if she needed something.

She rolled her eyes and dipped her head to capture her lips. Instead of cowering like she usually does Seungwan grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and pulled her close, kissing her.

She let out a small surprised gasp when Seungwan nibbled on her lower lip. She let Seungwan take the lead as the raven-haired girl bit her lower lip with her tongue asking for an entrance and it made her lose all the control she had. She entangled her hands around the ebony locks of Seungwan's hair pulling the girl closer.

She pulled away breathlessly, still shocked that Seungwan had it in her. Seungwan's face was flushed, she found her panting attractive. The latter opened her eyes when Joohyun caressed her jaw, feeling shy by her intense stare.

Seungwan raised her eyebrows with a smug expression on her face when she wrapped her legs around the latter's waist. Still, she wrapped her arms around her waist and looked at her.

“You aren't ready for baby-making activities,” Seungwan giggled, lips ghosting over her desperate ones, begging to be kissed. “But, I can make exceptions for making out in the bedroom.”

She giggled as Seungwan lifted her with no problem and captured her lips again as they continued in their bedroom until Seungwan decided it was enough, she was whining but the younger girl was persistent.

“I'm sorry,” She muttered with her face buried in Seungwan's neck.

“For,” Seungwan asked in her hoarse voice. She must've dozed off for a few minutes.

“Everything,” She mumbled guiltily.

“Look at me,” She heard her say as Seungwan pulled herself back. She didn't look at her.

“Baby, please look at me.”

She felt Seungwan cup her jaw and lift her face up by her chin, making their eyes meet, she caressed her lips with her thumb gently. Seungwan pulled her closer until their foreheads were pressed against each other.

“Tell me,” Seungwan asked, caressing her cheeks with her gentle hands.

“I feel guilty, that night, it shouldn't have happened, knowing you now and about your feelings for me back then, it hurts knowing that I caused you so much pain,” She whispered in a small voice. “You didn't deserve that, Seungwan.”

“We can't change the past Joohyun,” Seungwan began. “I don't care about anything that happened in the past, for me, the time we have is precious, do you want to dwell on the past or make unforgettable memories?” She asked.

She couldn't blurt out an answer because her eyes were enough to tell what Seungwan wanted to know. She closed her eyes when Seungwan leaned closer and kissed the tip of her nose.

“Baby,” Seungwan chuckled. “I like the sound of that. Can you get used to it?”

“With you, I can.”

•~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~•

Joohyun stood outside the conference room with her eyes on her wife. She doesn't know the reason she looks at Seungwan so often but ever since they have been open with their feelings she has been finding her a little too attractive and Seungwan's charm has become irresistible to her.

“You were waiting for me,” Seungwan asked as she stepped outside, looking displeased that her wife was waiting outside in the cold for her.

“Let's go to your cabin, it's cold,” She half lied, it wasn't that cold, the building was equipped with heaters but Seungwan knew she was sensitive to cold and it gave her a chance to cling to her.

Seungwan grabbed her hand and rubbed it with her own before she intertwined their fingers and put their clasped hand inside the pocket of her coat.

“I'm going to lock you inside your cabin, so you don't come outside looking for me,” Seungwan muttered under her breath, audible enough for her to hear it.

She just let out a giggle, finding Seungwan adorable. It's been almost a month since they started to know each other without any restraints. Joohyun thinks the past weeks have been nothing but bliss with lots of love shared between them.

She can't forget those kisses, it was hard because Seungwan wasn't that fond of physical affection but she had her ways. It started with small hugs and pecks until she initiated more and then Seungwan got used to it, initiating some from time to time.

“Do you have a lot of work for the weekend?” She asked once they were enveloped by the warmth inside Seungwan's office. She had some plans in her mind for their long-awaited outing as a couple.

“You know I don't leave my work hanging for weekends,” Seungwan replied smugly.

“Good, because I am taking you out,” She proposed, her intentions loud and clear.

“We'll see,” Seungwan replied and rolled her eyes with a teasing smirk resting on her face.

She grabbed her cup to take a sip of her hot chocolate when she felt Seungwan's head resting on her shoulders. “Are you alright?” She asked with worry evident in her voice.

“I just feel sleepy all of sudden,” Seungwan whispered, inhaling the perfume that made her even more sleepy.

She shrugged. Seulgi entered the office to drop off their lunch when she saw both of them sitting on the sofa.

“Is she that tired?” Seulgi whispered which made her raise her brows. “She's sleeping.”

She turned her head a little to see Seungwan passed out on her shoulder. She brought her hand up and rested on her forehead. “She has no fever,” She muttered and pressed a kiss to the side of Seungwan's forehead before she focused on Seulgi.

“She must be working a lot,” Seulgi trailed off and looked behind to see Sooyoung in the office as well.

She raised her brows because Seungwan was working a lot indeed. She would be stuck inside her office even when they are home. She was out late because she had work and sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night to see Seungwan sitting in the living room with her laptop out and talking to someone over the phone.

“Sleep well,” She whispered as she slowly made her lie down and covered her with her coat.

Seulgi had already brought her working stuff to her cabin because she knew Joohyun would want to stay near Seungwan and it turned out to be true.

“Something is happening from the inside.”

“What do you mean?”

“I can't withdraw any money from their account anymore, instead it gets taken from other's accounts.”

“Do you think someone found out about it?”

“I know now.”

“What?”

“It's Seungwan's doing.”

•~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~•

Joohyun stood on the edge of the stairs, the key spinning around her finger as she waited for Seungwan to come down.

“Sorry, for making you wait,” Seungwan walked down while she was fixing her wristwatch.

Her gaze followed her as the smile on her face was replaced by a look of shock and a blush. She was rendered speechless. She closed that was left wide open, taking in the beauty that was her wife.

It was unusual to see her wife out of her usual office attire but she was glad because seeing Seungwan was an experience she didn't want to deprive herself of.

“Good lord,” She muttered under her breath following Seungwan outside because she knew she'll have a hard time controlling herself when Seungwan was looking this beautiful, all for her.

“This date is unexpected,” Seungwan muttered once they were seated inside the car, with Joohyun the one taking the initiative to drive.

“I had it in mind for weeks now,” She replied and reached out for Seungwan's hands. “We haven't gone out alone to spend some time together and I wanted to change that.”

“This date is unexpected,” Seungwan muttered with hesitation.

“Well, I am excited to see what my beloved wife has prepared for me,” Seungwan pressed a kiss against the back of her palm that made her smile.

It was almost a new year and she wanted their start to a new year to be perfect. She wanted to leave behind the bad memories of the previous year and make new ones with Seungwan by her side. In her eyes, spending quality time with Seungwan would be perfect to close out the year.

The ride was filled with comfortable silence with occasional humming from Seungwan. She discovered that her wife liked to sing and it made sense because of the instruments in Seungwan's room.

Half an hour later they reached their destination. She looked to her side to see Seungwan's face scrunched up in confusion.

“It's dark here,” Seungwan muttered and got out of the car looking around to see darkness everywhere. It scared her a little bit because she didn't show it for the sake of Joohyun.

She slipped her arm around Seungwan's waist and started leading her toward the real destination.

“Are you sure you're not planning on killing me?” Seungwan asked, making her chuckle.

“You'll see soon baby,” She whispered as Seungwan removed her hand around her waist and clasped it tightly.

“Close your eyes,” She whispered, standing in front of the latter, blocking Seungwan's view.

“Joohyun, I don't have life insurance,” Seungwan mumbled with a pout obeying her command.

“Open your eyes,”

Seungwan opened her eyes and looked around to see a huge set up near the beach. Her jaw fell wide open in awe as her eyes followed the trail of rose petals that lead to a small cottage.

“Woah!” Seungwan looked toward her with a huge smile on her face while she was watching her admiring the view. “It's beautiful Joohyun,” She mumbled, placing a peck on her cheek, making the older girl blush.

“Let's eat dinner,” She mumbled. “I still have a surprise for you inside the cottage,” She chirped, leading Seungwan to the table.

“No wonder you have been planning this for weeks!” Seungwan exclaimed looking around the whole area like an excited puppy.

“Do you like it?”

“I love it!”

Seungwan watched in awe as some waiters arrived and served them appetisers and some wine. She couldn't help but get surprised by everything because it was the first time someone has made this much effort to please her.

She let out a sigh, a soft gaze directed toward Seungwan while she was eating her food. She was relieved to see her happy and carefree. In moments like these, it made her realise that Seungwan was the younger one between them the way she wanted to be pampered.

“It's one of the upcoming projects,” She muttered once she saw Seungwan eyeing the napkin on the table.

“I saw it,” Seungwan pointed out. “I feel extra special that Miss Joohyun decided to bring me to her newest hotel chain before anyone else,” She teased, earning a soft slap on the shoulder.

Soon they were done with dinner and were enjoying the wine as they walked by the sea. Seungwan had already chugged a few glasses down and was now drinking straight from the bottle

“How long have you been planning this?” Seungwan asked, hands swaying and face flushed due to the alcohol in her system.

“Couple of weeks, I got this idea when the update about this came and thought it'll be great to spend some quality time on this location,” She muttered, relishing the fact that Seungwan was being carefree around her. “Your mom told me that you like the sea.”

“Easy there,” She muttered when Seungwan stumbled a little. She took Seungwan's hand and led her to the cottage.

Seungwan excitedly climbed the stairs and immediately let out a “Wow!” as her eyes fell on the city lights paired with the exposed sky.

“This is so beautiful,” She exclaimed, closing her eyes to take in the cool breeze.

She smiled and sat on the bed and patted the spot beside her, “Come here.”

Seungwan followed and sat between Joohyun's legs, resting her back against her front. “I got this for you,” Joohyun said, taking out the guitar from under the bed, widening Seungwan's eyes.

“Is this mine?” Seungwan asked, grabbing the instrument, caressing it, and strumming its chords.

“I asked your mom for it…I wanted to hear you sing,” Joohyun whispered, resting her chin on Seungwan's shoulder.

Seungwan positioned the instrument strumming its chords trying to familiarise herself with it while humming.

“Don't be nervous, it's just me.”

“It's you. That's why I'm nervous.”

Seungwan took a huge breath and cleared as she started strumming the strings of the guitar.

The moment you awkwardly greeted me

You secretly followed me

You laughed yeah yeah

There is no romantic song

The night sky will become the melody

I bloom like flower petals

All of my trembling breath

In this wind, fly, fly, fly

Only your warmth remains

Very warm and natural

Green in your touch

Yeah yeah yeah

Oh, why can't you just love me?

Yeah yeah yeah

So warm filled with your embrace

Greenery in this spring light

Yeah yeah yeah

I just want you to love me

I want you to love me

She took a deep breath, emotions overwhelming her as Seungwan stopped and turned to face her with a hint of hesitation in her eyes.

“How was it?” Seungwan asked, putting down the guitar on the floor.

“Did you make it?” She asked breathlessly.

“It's an unfinished one,” Seungwan muttered shyly.

She couldn't stop herself. She crashed her trembling lips against Seungwan's warm lips. Seungwan pulled her closer and tilted her head for better access. It felt so good to have Seungwan's lips on her. Her kisses were so addictive.

She didn't know how it ended up with her back pressed against the mattress with Seungwan hovering above her. She didn't stop and deepened the kiss, wanting to explore every inch of Seungwan's mouth. Her kiss was lustful and passionate.

Her hands lowered from Seungwan's neck to her waist, pulling the younger girl lower for their bodies to collide. Her hands untucked Seungwan's shirt from her skirt as they explored her bare skin, admiring the curves of her body.

She pulled back breathlessly but it didn't stop her from trailing kisses down her jaw. “Baby,” Seungwan whimpered when she started the sensitive spot on her neck. Her lips travelled towards her ears when she left a mark on Seungwan's neck. She bit her earlobe before her lips moved to her jaw.

She opened her eyes to stare right into Seungwan's enlarging orbs. She didn't need any permission because she knew Seungwan wanted this. She s her hand under her shirt as she slowly explored Seungwan's skin until she stopped where Seungwan's breath hitched.

She could see the anticipation in her eyes by the way she started to pant between their kisses. It was the encouragement she needed, so her hands cupped the side of her clothes .

She felt ecstasy running through her veins when Seungwan moaned. She pulled the younger girl down until there was no distance left between them while she continued to massage her clothed .

“Joo—”

She found it hard to stop. It was too addicting and Seungwan's whimpers just kept encouraging her to keep going. She had never felt the spark until she got to touch Seungwan like this. The feeling of making Seungwan hers was euphoric.

She tilted her head and kissed Seungwan deeply, that's when she tasted the wine and the realisation hit her. She pulled back and opened her eyes to see Seungwan staring at her with droopy eyes.

“Joohyun,” Seungwan slurred.

“Let's stop here,” She whispered and made Seungwan lie beside her. She wanted to claim Seungwan more than anything but not when she was barely in her senses. It was hard to stop herself but Seungwan's words about consent bothered her. It wouldn't be fair to her to do this when she's like this.

She opened her eyes to meet Seungwan's only to see tears in her eyes.

“Baby,” She whispered, wiping her tears but it was of no use since they were replaced by new ones. “Tell me, did I do something wrong?”

Seungwan sniffled, hugging her tightly, sobbing hysterically on her shoulders, wetting her shirt with her tears.“I am sorry. I can't give you what you wanted. Please don't leave me.”

She caressed her head gently feeling bad for making Seungwan feel like this, it was obvious that the alcohol made her very vulnerable and it was the main reason she didn't want to go all the way.

“Seungwan, I am not leaving you,” She cooed and peppered her flushed face with kisses. “You're giving me everything I wanted from you,” She whispered and cradled Seungwan in her arms. “I want to do this with you when both of us are fully sober.”

She watched as Seungwan slowly closed her eyes, her hands clasping her hands loosening their hold. “Joohyun…I…l—” She couldn't understand what Seungwan had said but the softness of her tone meant that Seungwan understood her intentions.

She covered both of them with a duvet and continued muttering words of assurance to Seungwan as she slept in her arms.

“I don't know if you were that deprived of love that you always fear that people you love will leave you,” She murmured against Seungwan's skin. “I am not going to leave you, now that I know how much love you need.”

She couldn't go anywhere else when her home was right there in her arms.

•~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~•

Joohyun ran her fingers through Seungwan's hair with her head resting on her elbow, creases on her forehead, and eyes fixed on Seungwan's sleeping figure.

She was having a hard time processing her emotions. It felt like she was getting hit by a truck again and again. She was having an inner battle with herself. Her head was going in one direction while her heart was going in the opposite direction and it all was connected to none other than the girl sleeping next to her.

.

Joohyun immediately woke up upon hearing her phone ring. She carefully detached herself from Seungwan and covered her with a duvet before she rushed downstairs with the phone in her hand.

“It's three in the morning,” She hissed. “If Seungwan had woken up she would have had a hard time going back to sleep.”

“It's urgent Joohyun, like really urgent,” Jennie stammered, the seriousness of the situation evident in her voice.

She looked upstairs where Seungwan was asleep. She didn't want to leave her there like this, especially after the night they had spent. “Meet me in the company,” She commanded and rushed to her car.

Her mind was already occupied with worrisome thoughts regarding Seungwan, so, when she saw the content displayed on Jennie's laptop screen, her blood started to boil.

“Is this real?” She asked with a clenched jaw, eyes glaring at the screen before she looked down to see her wedding ring.

“Unfortunately, it is real and I have double-checked everything,” Jennie replied.

“How long has this been going on?” She inquired, her teeth gritting in anger.

“This is the bothersome part for me,” Jennie typed something and showed her the screen. “Most of them are after the merger from their side but these transactions have been happening even before that,” Jennie elaborated. “You guys had no idea unless it was someone from inside.”

She looked away from the screen, refusing to acknowledge the fact that her whole world was on the verge of falling apart.

“What do we do now?” Jennie asked, approaching her and squeezing her shoulder.

“It's better to collect solid proof, we should launch an investigation,” She ordered, controlling the urge to hit something with her bare hands.

“Your wife—Is she a part of all this?” Jennie gulped, regretting her decision of asking such a question after seeing the glare Joohyun directed toward her.

“I'll take care of her,” She replied. In her heart, she knew Seungwan would never do something like this and her actions have proven again and again that she didn't play dirty games. Seungwan had the chance to humiliate her and she didn't, it had to mean something.

“Did you find something about the letter?” She asked, diverting the attention away from Seungwan.

“It's in the works. I'll give you an update as soon as I can,” Jennie mumbled.

She drove back in fury. She couldn't comprehend the fact that someone was swindling her company's money right under her nose. She slammed the steering wheel in anger as she let out a scream.

“You wanna play dirty then let's play dirty.”

She was torn but it didn't mean she'll act irrationally and put the entire blame on Seungwan. She knew she had to put her anger aside and think because it affected her relationship with Seungwan. Seungwan didn't have a good relationship with any of the higher-ups in her company. She also went out of the way to buy those shares that saved her from getting humiliated by her grandfather. Seungwan gave her creative control and made the merger an equal partnership.

“Hyun,” Seungwan muttered, she shifted and opened her eyes which were still droopy from sleep. “You're awake,” She let out a yawn and pressed herself closer to Joohyun.

“You think I could sleep after spending a blissful night with you?” She smiled and pushed away her thoughts. “I'd rather watch you sleep like a baby, my baby, than sleep by myself,” She took Seungwan's hand and pressed kisses on each of her knuckles.

“Don't flatter me right now, it's early in the morning and we both need sleep,” Seungwan whined, letting out a yawn while she wrapped her arms around her.

“I am not tired,” She muttered. Surprisingly, despite staying up the whole night she wasn't, she was immersed in staring at Seungwan.

“Oh, really?” She nodded with a shrug.

Seungwan smiled at her mischievously, which told Joohyun she was up to no good. The younger girl began tickling her.

“No! Seungwan!” She screamed breathlessly as the younger one kept tickling her. “I am—going to cry,” She kept laughing as Seungwan kept tickling her.

“I hate you Seungwan,” She exhaled, letting out a yawn as she buried her face in the crook of Seungwan's neck once Seungwan stopped.

“No, you don't,” Seungwan whispered snobbishly.

“I don't,” She sighed, closing her eyes. “You know I never knew, you would be like this. It feels nice knowing this childish side of yours is reserved for me,” She admitted.

“It's because of you. I feel like I can show my younger side with you because you'll be there to pamper me and guide me,” Seungwan whispered. “Well, technically, Sooyoung has seen this side too, but she's not my wife, so yeah.”

She let out a giggle and closed her eyes, feeling at ease in her wife's arms. She felt lips on her forehead for a few moments before her eyelids became heavy and she drifted off to sleep.

It was an unusual day in the Bae household as the halls were filled with echoes of laughter. Joohyun's family and Seungwan's family were happy to see that their daughters were comfortable in each other's company.

“You see that's why you're not allowed in the kitchen,” Seungwan teased, showing Joohyun the pancake she just burned.

“You distracted me!” Joohyun pouted while sitting on the shelf watching as Seungwan kept doing her work.

“Well I have my gorgeous wife sitting in front of me but you don't see my burning things,” Seungwan chuckled trying to dodge the punches Joohyun was throwing her way.

“You're lucky you're cute or I would've broken your bones for making fun of me,” Joohyun said while tasting the small piece Seungwan made.

“Yeah—Yeah our self defence, wife kicking master,” Seungwan rolled her eyes as she helped Joohyun down earning a punch.

“Girls!” Mr.Bae called out from outside.

Both of them went outside and sat beside their parents still bickering.

“How long have you two been married?” Mrs. Son asked.

“Almost 5 now,” Seungwan answered, looking toward Joohyun to confirm.

“You two have been married for 5 months now yet you haven't gotten any chance to spend quality time together, that's why we have decided to send you two on honeymoon,” Mrs.Bae announced happily.

“What about work?”

They asked at the same time, making their mothers sigh in disappointment.

“You two have been working nonstop for a while now it's time to get a break,” Mr.Son told.

“We're the Ceo's how everything is going to function in our absence?” Seungwan asked. She wanted to spend some private time with Joohyun but she just couldn't leave the company for a vacation especially when they are in the last stages of the investigation.

“It'll not function on its own,” Joohyun joined. She just couldn't allow herself to leave especially when there is an ongoing investigation going on.

“Don't worry about that. We have managed your schedule. That's why your work during this week was hectic. Seulgi and Sooyoung will be in charge during your absence. We have talked to them.” Mr.Son explained.

“You guys thought this through,” Seungwan sighed, there was no way she could deny it, she didn't want to hurt Joohyun by rejecting them.

“So, where are you guys sending us?” Joohyun asked, accepting the defeat, at least she'll get to spend some time with Seungwan.

“Switzerland,” Mrs.Bae replied.

“Joohyun is sensitive to cold,” Seungwan mumbled.

“Honey you'll be there to keep her warm,” Mrs.Son replied wiggling her brows which made the older girl giggle.

Seungwan looked toward Joohyun who raised her shoulder before intertwining their hands under the table.

“So when is the flight?”

“Was falling for you my ninth mistake?”

Chapter 7: Woah!!! So Jennie Kim is the ex and her hearing Seungwan defending Joohyun from the directors should made her mad or something. I hate what i have in mind but i hope and pretty sure the foundation of relation J and S building will be strong enough that they can survive any storm coming their way. long way to read but this is such a good story.

Really love the progress of both characters

Chapter 17: This will always be one of my favorite fics of wenrene. This story really conveys lots of emotions and somehow depicts that despite all the struggles and life's challenges if you choose to love each other unconditionally then you will be able to handle everything. I hope to read more stories from you author but please don't let the ending be angst. 🥺Wentokkis have been through alot. My wenrene heart can't handle it.

Chapter 17: such a heart warming epilogue to wrap up the story. the character development of seungwan and joohyun was so satisfying to see. i was surprised that seungwan didn’t loose her cool at all while joohyun was pregnant for a year. joohyun really tested her patience and i feel like that experience also made her a better mother. their daughter is so cute and loved (winrina side story with minjeong and jimin perhaps ?🤧)

thank you for writing this!
