I believe this was also for Summer of SHINee fec fest lol. I never posted it here because I had only written one other vampire fic and I was too embarrassed to post that one as well. Hopefully you don't think it's too terrible.

The prompt:

Person A is a vampire and has found their lover reincarnate person B

Eats garlic, wears crosses, goes to church, circles house in salt, person A just asks for person B to get to know him.

“He’s back, oh my God he’s back. Look!”

Kim Kibum is a young college student, an Art major to be exact. And as an art major he see’s some pretty abstract and weird things in his daily life. But nothing as weird as this stranger that keeps following him everyday. Well at least Kibum was convinced he was being followed.

“You don’t think it’s a little vain of you to suggest that he’s here…for you?” His best friend Taemin sighed.

Kibum casted him a glare and upturned his nose.

It was a late evening and the two young college students had been coming to the local library to study for classes and exams throughout the week. Kibum preferred the communities local library rather than the campus library as he didn’t want to run into any students or friends that he knew would try to strike up a conversation and distract him. He usually dragged Taemin along with him so that he didn’t have to walk back home alone at night. He also worked there at the front desk, but today was his off day. He enjoyed this library very much.

“He stares at me every time I look his direction! And he has been here every single night we have been here!”

Taemin rolled his eyes not bothering to look up from his chemistry book.

“Have you ever thought that maybe he’s looking at you because your looking at him? And heaven forbid the man just wants to come in here and study or read for the sake of enjoyment. It’s probably just a coincident he’s here, alright? Now relax. That Math work won’t do itself now will it?”

Kibum his teeth.

He tossed one glanced at his ‘stalker’ just to see him looking right back at him. He turned away quickly and saw Taemin roll his eyes before they both dove back into there college text books.

Some time had went by and Kibum just couldn’t understand why his answer didn’t match the options A, B, or C? Was it a trick question? It absolutely had to be a trick question.

Studying was hard because Kibum had not been getting enough sleep as he had been having an annoying and strange dream lately of a man that kept popping up in his dreams, he couldn’t figure out who the guy was and it creeped him out.

He was chewing the cap off his pen from frustration to the annoyance of his friend who tossed him a glare. He couldn’t concentrate so he decided to go to the Starbucks that was located towards the middle of the library.

“I’m going to get some coffee. Do you want anything?” Kibum asked standing up and shutting his book.

“Unlike you I’m actually trying to study. So no thanks.” He responded. Such a smart .

But Taemin knew him too well. He knew he was going to walk around and lazily stare at books and get on his phone until he slowly finished his drink. Just something for him to do while he wasted time.

He took his sweet time to get to the cafe and waited in line reading the menu, he knew what he wanted but just wanted to waste even more time.

“I’ll have a Strawberry Frappecino. With whip cream and extra chocolate and strawberries.” He said excitedly. When he placed his order and payed he hadn’t paid attention to his surroundings and spun around and knocked into the person standing behind him. He hadn’t heard or sensed anyone standing near him so he was caught off guard.

“OH- I am so sorry-“ He voice got stuck in his throat. His eyes grew big as he stared at the man that was behind him.

It was his stalker!…A very cute stalker.

This was his first time seeing him this up close and personal and he could admit he was impressed at what he was looking at at.

The man was a bit shorter than he expected but he was very handsome. His big round eyes and cute lips made him blush wildly. He had a nice build from what he could tell from his tight turtle neck he wore. The man wore a very shocked expression and looked as if he was mezmorised while looking at him.

“S-sorry…” Kibum whimpered out again.

“It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.” The man said. His voice was so warm and gentle. It felt familiar, actually, even his face looked familiar. And he didn’t miss the way he felt a bolt of electricity go through his body when the two bumped into each other. This was all too strange.

He shyly walked away and tucked himself into the corner of the store waiting for his order to be called. He held his head face down to the floor as he could feel the man staring at him. He heard the man order a vanilla bean drink and almost grimaced at that. He hated vanilla bean, his stalker had terrible taste. He only liked strawberries. The superior flavor.

He dared to look up a take a glance at the man, but when he did this the man looked back at him and gave him another small smile.

Kibum blushed like crazy and looked down and decided to busy himself by looking at his phone.

“Strawberry Frappe!” He heard the cashier call.

He quickly grabbed his drink and left without taking another look at the man.

When he got back to his seat with his drink Taemin stared at him like he had two heads.

“You came back quicker this time.” Taemin said clearly surprised.

“My stalker…he followed me over there…” Kibum huffed.

Once again Taemin rolled his eyes and sighed.

“You know you aren’t the only person in the world that drinks Starbucks coffee, Hyung.”

“Shove it, Taemin.” He said noisy slamming his math book open and angrily sipping his drink.

His eyes on glazed over the words as he couldn’t get the image of the man out of his head. Who was he? And why did he seem so familiar?

“Excuse me.”

Kibum recognized that voice and looked up slowly from his math textbook and saw Taemin doing the same thing. He jumped slightly when he saw his stalker standing in front of their table. Taemin looked confused and looked at him expectantly waiting for Kibum to answer him. It was clear the man was here for him as he was standing infront of the two but was facing and looking at only Kibum.

“Y-yes?” Kibum stuttered.

“…it’s Kibum, right?” The two college students looked at each other in utter confusion at how this man knew him. It was very weird, but for some reason Kibum wasn’t scared. Hearing his name roll off his tongue felt strangely familiar….although it still was a little creepy.

“Yes…”He answered slowly.

The man smiled brightly and his eyes turned into little slits.

“I knew it! Kibum it’s me! It’s Jonghyun!” He said excitedly. He stood their with such a happy expression which was the complete opposite of his own. Poor guy. He had the wrong person and he was going to feel so bad letting him know that he had stalked the wrong guy for a week or so.

“I’m sorry, I think you have the wrong Kibum.” He said apologetically.

“You name is Kim Kibum right?”

He nodded.

“It’s a very common name…I’m sorry.” He said bowing a little.

The man’s, or Jonghyun’s, smile started to fall slowly.

“But…Kibum I know it’s you. You don’t recognize me?” He said sounding a little sad.

Kibum nodded his head no. Couldn’t this guy just accept the fact that he was the wrong Kibum?

Usually Taemin always had something to say but this time he sat there stiff and as quiet as a mouse. He gave him a look asking for help but Taemin only shrugged.

“Your birthday is September 19th. I know the year is different but the day and month is still the same. Your favorite flowers are red carnations. You love strawberries or anything with strawberries in it. You-“

“Holy stop.” Kibum said confused.

“I know your not the exact same Kibum from centuries ago. But you are still Kibum.” He said with a sad look in his eyes.

What the hell was that supposed to mean?

“Look I don’t know who you are, but you’re freaking me out. Taemin let’s go.” He said scrambling his stuff. But Taemin was moving to slow for his liking.

“Taemin move your !”

Jonghyun stood there a little sad but still wore a small smile on his face as he watched them leave.

“That’s definitely my Kibum.”

-

Kibum peered through the book case that he was stacking his books at. From where he was standing he could see that Jonghyun guy sitting down reading at a table with his stupid vanilla bean frappe. Today he worked the night shift, he hated working the night shift. He hated walking alone at night, and now that it was confirmed that he had a stalker he was even more scared to walk alone.

He peeked at him through the books and watched as his stalker got up to go walk to the front desk. . He was the only one working tonight.

The moment he saw Jonghyun come in he ignored his presence, but he was obligated to assist students and locals when they came to the front desk, his boss did check the CCTV cameras after all.

“.” He whispered to himself when he saw his stalker waiting there patiently, standing around looking for him.

He drug his feet to the front desk and stood behind the counter nervously.

“How can I help you?” He asked trying to sound indifferent while not looking him in the eyes.

“I would like to return his book.” Jonghyun said.

He slide the book across the counter into his reach.

‘The Origin of Vampires’, the book read.

When he marked down that he had returned the book on the computer in front of him, he saw that this man often checked out books revolving vampires.

‘Dracula: The True Story’

‘Vampire Horror Stories’

‘Midnight Creatures’

What the hell? This guy was a weirdo.

“You must really like Vampires or something.” He said under his breath but still loud enough for him to hear.

“You could say that.” The man said. Kibum looked at him and looked away quickly, blushing profusely when he saw the small grin the man had.

“Many of those books, are wildly inaccurate.” He continued.

Kibum just nodded and gave him a strange look. Was he some sort of Vampire expert or something? Or was he just trying to make small talk.

“All done. Thank you.” Kibum said and gave him a professional fake smile.

“Kibum.” The man said suddenly.

The college student couldn’t help but give him his full attention at the sterness of his name being called.

“Can we just talk? Just for a few minutes. Please.”

“First off. Don’t call me ‘Kibum’. I could be older than you. And secondly what is it that you have to speak to me about?”

Jonghyun chuckled.

“You have more…personality in this lifetime I see.” Jonghyun muttered while smirking.

“Excuse me?” Kibum said.

What did this man just say?

“Sorry. Should I call you Kibum-Ssi? But I am defiantly older than you.” Jonghyun said leaning on the counter getting comfortable.

“How do you know?”

“Trust me I know.” He deadpanned.

“And I just want to get to know you.” He continued.

Kibum laughed out loud in his face.

“Get to know me? You seem to know a lot about me already. I know you have been stalking me. I have seen you, and if you keep it up I’ll be forced to call the police!”

Now it was Jonghyun’s turn to laugh.

“I haven’t been stalking you Kibum-Ssi. I was just drawn here a few weeks ago...by a certain...force. Had a connection to this place for some reason and now I see why.” He said drumming his fingers on the counter.

“Is…that the best pick up line you’ve got?” Kibum sneered and crossed his arms. He rolled his eyes and turned his nose up.

“Your playing hard to get this time I see…well I guess it wouldn’t be as fun if you just fell right back into my arms, now would it?”

Kibum was getting creeped out and suspicious.

“What are you on about?” Kibum hissed.

“Can we just talk? For five minutes? Then I’ll leave you alone for the rest of your shift.” He said almost desperately.

“How about for the rest of my life.” Kibum said.

Jonghyun only looked at him and walked off to a table that wasn’t to far away. Just a table up against a wall where he could still see the front desk and the rest of the library. He didn’t speak, almost knowing that Kibum would just follow him automatically. And he did just that.

Kibum didn’t know what possessed him to agree. He was talking to his stalker!

He nervously sat in from of him. He tried to avoid eye contact but Jonghyun was looking at him with so much adoration in his he couldn’t help but questioned him.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

The smile that spread across Jonghyun’s face looked genuine and light hearted.

“You still like just as beautiful as ever.”

Kibum rolled his eyes for the umpteenth time this week and pretended like that comment didn’t make his stomach flip. Why was this guy such a sweet talker?

“Why do you…still? I told you I’m the wrong Kibum.”

“You’re not. You’re my Kibum.” He said gently.

“I don’t belong to anyone.” Kibum said annoyed.

“That’s not what I mean,” Jonghyun said. He took second to run his hand through his brown locks, and Kibum would be lying if he said he didn’t look attractive while doing that.

“I mean, we’re mates. Soulmates. We belong to each other...at least our hearts do.” He said. The serious tone in his voice scared Kibum a little. He could not be serious right?

“Umm, okay?” How was he supposed to respond to this guy? He was crazy!

Jonghyun tentatively and gently reached forward to hold Kibum’s hand and for some reason Kibum let him do it.

“You still have that scar on your eyebrow. The first time I met you, you said you got it from a sword fight. How did you get it this time?”

He asked staring intensely at his eyebrow scar.

“I-Uhh, a pot fell on my head when I was young…look what the hell are you on about with this whole ’Soulmate’ thing. It’s kinda. creepy.”

He noticed the way Jonghyun rubbed his thumb against him palm so lovingly. He still wasn’t sure why he let him do it.

“You’re the reincarnation of my Soulmate.” He said.

The was he talking about?

“Ah-ha! So I am the wrong Kibum!”

“No. You have just been re-born. But you have a speacial curse...you’ll always look the same, have the same name, and be born on the same day. You personality will be a little different each time, based on your environment. But ultimately you’re still you. You’re still my Kibum.”

Kibum snatched his hand out of his and crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. He almost missed the warmth he felt when he was holding his hand.

“I’ll entertain it. I’m bored anyway, and if anything I’ll just call the police if you try to harm me. So tell me, how do you know I’m you’re Soulmate?”

Jonghyun frowned.

“Don’t you feel it here?” He said pointing towards his heart.

“You just…know. That’s how it’s always been in our clan.”

Kibum squinted his eyes at him and glared. This guy was really a lunatic. It’s a great thing he had 911 on speed dial.

“I have been looking for you for centuries. Sometimes I found you too late and you were already eighty-something years old or your life was established and you were married with kids. Sometimes you were straight and one time you moved to another country and I lost track of you. Sometimes…I just couldn’t find you at all.” He said the last part with such a sorrowful look in his eyes.

“So how did you loose me the first time?” Kibum said with a raised eyebrow.

“It was my punishment, for going against our clan. I would have to find you until I could mate with you and make you mine again.”

Clan? Mate? What was he? A ing animal?

“There were always some type of obstacles in the way when I found you…but this time it seems to be nothing holding us back. We can be together again. I’m truly excited to see you again, it’s hard holding back my happiness and excitement, but somehow I am. With great strength.” He chuckled. The look on his face looked so pure and innocent, too bad Kibum had to rain down on his parade.

“Yea…no. You can’t just stalk me and then expect me to ‘mate’ with you and then run off happily into the sunset. I don’t know you.” He said in a duh-tone.

“You truly haver no memory of me?” Jonghyun frowned.

“There were times when I found you, you said I liked familiar or that dreamed about me. You had some type of familiarity.”

In all honestly the longer Kibum looked at him, the more he thinks he was the man he saw in his dreams. But he was not going to admit that.

“Sorry.” He shrugged.

“So what are you immortal or something?” Kibuma asked genuinely curious as to why this man thought he had been alive for so long. Maybe he took hallucigenics. He needed to try whatever he had, maybe he could imagine himself as a handsome celebrity or even a singer!

He reeled himself back into the conversation when Jonghyun spoke.

“Well, Vampires are immortal.”

Kibum stared at him. He started giggling until his giggles turned into a fit of laughter. He was laughing so  hard he started holding his stomach.

“Oh my God, you’re crazy! You’re really crazy! Vampires aren’t real!” He said laughing even more.

Jonghyun wore a straight face.

“You shouldn’t laugh. You were once a Vampire too, Kibum.” He staid in a serious voice. But Kibum couldn’t help but continue laughing.

“Okay, then. Prove it!” He said controlling himself.

Jonghyun sighed. He was hoping he wouldn’t have to do this.

He took a moment to think of the best way to prove this to him without scaring him.

He opened his mouth wide enough for Kibu

Chapter 3: This one-shot was heartbreaking 💔 the happy-endings-loving side of me can't help but yearn for those two to eventually get to a stage where they will be able to get together without being toxic for each other... a girl can dream, right? But on a more serious note I really enjoyed the overall theme of this shot (how love is not enough if one is not in a good place with themselves; that relationships get only damaging when we go down hurtful patterns because of how we interact with each other) and I appreciated the fact that you put different but equal blames on each of them. Can't help but feel sorry for Minho, the unwitting victim in all of this... Anyway, this theme was very interesting and I think the way you portrayed felt pretty realistic. It was easy to connect with both Kibum and Jonghyun and feel for them, while also making them accountable for their toxic traits. Good job!
