THURSDAY
Today I went to the shore where the mermaid took me after I fell off the boat. She was not there, just as I expected. I doubt that she will appear before me again, but I tried my luck. I even brought a phonograph, with the assumption that maybe she fancies music. I played my favorite song as I waited for her. I think I am more intrigued about why she saved me more than the fact that she was a mermaid. I wonder if there are any other mermaids around in this place. I asked the locals here in Enas Niata if there are any recent sightings of mermaids, but a clerk told me that it was just their town's myth, and there are no actual mermaids in this place or any part of the world in that matter. He added that if mermaids were real, then that goes the same for fire-breathing dragons and fairies. If only I didn't meet that mermaid, I would have agreed to this bitter man.
I came back again to the shore before the night falls. I sat on a rock and tried calling out to the mermaid, but I realized I never knew her name. Do mermaids even have names? I want to see her again. My gut tells me that she would help me to get to learn more about my father.
