The younger girl tried to swallow the fruit right away without masticating it so as to avoid smelling it as much as possible.
"Sarap?' she teased. "Ito pa o."
Seulgi's eyes went wide, obviously horrified. Joohyun couldn't hold back her laughter anymore.
She cackled so much that some of the children playing around them glanced her way, as she and Seulgi were sitting in separate swings in a playground near Joohyun's apartment.
Seulgi cleared - "Dr. Joohyun, about last month --"
Joohyun looked at Seulgi. She can see that this young woman has nothing but the best of intentions when she used the tools that she have - her skills to draw, to write - to push for transparency in government as well as better funding support for scientific initatives in the Philippines.
Seulgi reminded her of herself, when she also had that gumption before. And just because she wasn't that person anymore doesn't mean she should put down or undermine those who still have that fire, the will to fight.
"Seulgi, I'm sorry."
Seulgi looked at her.
"I may not be able to be as brave as you, to speak out and be vocal about the things, changes I believe in, but that doesn't give me the right to silence those who can."
