“Danny ….. you still don’t believe….. “

“Yes, Sister Mary and it is not a case of “don’t”, it is the case of “ I can’t….”

Danny was sitting in the garden still reminiscing all the beautiful moments of her life….but there weren't so many... Before she will leave this Catholic School in Spain.

“Danny let’s go to confession boost….” – it was the last thing sister Mary asked

“It will be always my pleasure” – Danny followed and sat in a chair comfortably

“Danny it is about your sins….” – the man started smoothly

“I don't have any sins to confess.” – Danny said with a calm but at the same time with confident emphasization in her voice

“Are you serious?”

“My only sin, and it's an enormous one, is that my conscience does not accuse me of anything.” – Danny moved her head to the right and plain face only illumine pale skin of the girl

“If I always heard confessions like yours, I'd be out of a job.”  so the confession did not last long.

Danny was walking around with Sister Mary in silence. The tranquility always has been remaining in this place as Danny walked into the church. After a long stop, they went to the garden and sat on a bench

“It is my last week being here, I am going to come back” – Danny said with her gentle voice

“Don't you like it here?” – sister Mary asked, but the woman was close friend and guider. She knows how Danny grew in this church and her memories in catholic school. Knowing the fact that her parents were religious, she never confesses to them that she never enjoyed being all religious and depended

“This place smells like incense and death. I prefer the smell of and life. I had a week of vacation 2 years ago. It was the first time I'd ever been out in the world on my own. I went to California, and there I went to the beach. And on that beach...
I won over a homely girl who seemed at the time to be the most beautiful girl in the world. ” – Danny muttered and the smile plastered on her face. Seems like she really liked this girl.

“I have to ask you a somewhat unseemly question.” – Sister Mary looked at her and carefully caressed her back

“There are no unseemly questions between you and me, Sister Mary. Because... because you and I respect each other.” – Danny said looking at her.

“What remained with you from your experience with the girl......in California?” – the older woman questioned her and the young Korean dreamingly smiled.

“The memory of her eyes. At first, eyes full of love, then later eyes full of disappointment. And that was an important lesson. I understood that and I no longer want to see the disappointment in their eyes. Never again. Still, at the same time, I occasionally find myself unable to believe my own words.” As Danny looked at her the emptiness in her gaze remained and continued “I don't believe my thoughts, I don't believe in my will, I don't believe in my abilities. I'm speaking to you from the heart, Sister Mary……There are times...there are certain times, or possibly always... In short, there are times when I don't believe. There are times when I think it might be better to leave it all”

Danny has been growing in Spain. Her family was religious that she could not escape from all things in her life including her parents. However, Danny does not have any belief or desire to serve God when her parents impelled her to go to church. In the first place, she never indulges herself after that. Truth to be told she is beautiful and divine. She is unpredictable and self-assured. After graduating, she decided to come back and study in Korea and be “just” Dahyun.

As she closed her eyes, she calmly muttered,

“God, my conscience does not accuse me, because you do not believe I am capable of repenting. And therefore, I do not believe in you. I do not believe you are capable of saving me from myself. I am saying that I do not believe you, God.”
