Chapter 14
One Month Later In My DreamsI still wasn't talking to Jeanine, fyi. I didn't know what to say to her. What could I do? Yell at her for being herself and not knowing something I didn’t tell her?
She had been grumbling and pleading at my back the whole day, and frankly I was getting tired of it too.
“Oh my god, Onew!” Jeanine exclaimed as we sat down in our seats for choir class. “You should totally get your matchmaker results!”
I held my breath.
“Are you kidding me? Two dollars for just a piece of paper?” I looked up, startled, to see his indignant face with a half-smile. “I’m not wasting my money for such things!”
I couldn’t help but start laughing, doubling over. WOW. Well said by fellow Asian. There was no way that could have been said better.
“But…but…but…” Jeanine stammered.
“It’s true!” Onew looked at me as I tried to repress my giggles.
I grinned. “Some people said that about the twenty dollars for the Science Olympiad.” I shrugged. “But you’re right.” At that moment the tuning note was played and we turned to the front.
For the rest of the day, I couldn’t help but replay Onew’s face coming alive and let a smile go on to my face.
