“Why are you so nervous? This isn’t the first time we’re been to the doctor. And you’re not even the one on the table with your belly hanging out for anyone walking by to see.”

Jimin his lips and ran a hand through his hair; pushing it back and gripping it a little before letting it go with a sigh. “I’m sorry baby, I just can’t help it! Hospitals always make me a little nervous. Besides,” he took your hand and gave you a crescent eyed smile and a laugh, “we get to find out the gender of our baby today! It’s so exciting, I can’t sit still.”

You laughed and squeezed his hand a little, smiling as he ran his thumb over your knuckles. “Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?”

He tilted his head a little. “A boy. And I’ll teach him how to be a cool man as he grows!” You laughed at his answer and he grinned at you before running a hand over your clothed stomach. “…Do you think everything is ok in there? I just wonder if your belly is a little bigger than it’s supposed to be- than I’ve read online.”

You hummed and placed your hand over his. “Every body is different and will react differently to pregnancy. Though I suppose I could stand to go to an exercise class more often… I have put on some more weight than I probably should, eh?” You gave a sad little chuckle.

Jimin looked up at you with a slightly horrified look. “Th-that’s not what I meant!! I m-mean--! You’re stunning, baby, really. And I-I shouldn’t have said anything! You’re making an entire person in there, and it’s doing things to your body that I can’t even begin to understand. Don’t ever let me say anything like that again, and if I do please feel free to slap me.”

You gently caressed his cheek, smoothing over the worried wrinkles at his eyes with your thumb, and gave him a loving look. “I will definitely keep that in mind when this baby starts kicking and makes it impossible to sleep, Jiminie~”

He gave a nervous chuckle before kissing your knuckles. A soft knock echoed at the door before it opened, your doctor poking her head around the corner.

“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Park! Lovely to see you both again. Are you ready to see what’s going on with your baby?”

“Good afternoon doctor. Yup, we’re all set here.”

She moved to sit at the stool in front of the monitor and grabbed the ultrasound gel while you pulled your hospital shirt up over your stomach. “Great, then let’s get started. This is going to be a little cold…” She smoothed the gel over your stomach and you shivered a little at the feeling. “Any changes or worries you have so far? How has everything been since the last time you were in?”

You settled against the pillow, enjoying the feeling of the cool gel on your skin while Jimin gently rubbed his thumb over the back of your hand. “Nothing unusual. My feet are starting to swell and I want to eat everything in sight. Oh, I haven’t really gotten my energy back? Isn’t that supposed to come back after the first trimester?”

The doctor hummed as she continued to move the gel around. “Usually, though every pregnancy is different-“ You sent a pointed look towards Jimin. “-so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If you still don’t feel like doing much in another week or two, come back and we’ll see what’s going on. Anything else?”

“I think I’m gaining a little more weight than I should? Though that could be due to not exercising enough…”

The doctor nodded in agreement before a smile lit up her face. “Well, well! Look who we have here~” A slightly grainy picture appeared on the monitor, distorted but undeniable in its shape. “Looks like your baby is growing just perfectly.”

Jimin’s grip on your hand slackened as he stared in awe at the screen. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swall
