Did you guys know that Love eventually happens to you the moment you realized your heart is beating for this particular person? Some told me that it is a love at first sight, but nope, as for me, it is more like,

Love at first ‘Hi’.

“Did you wash your face? Because you look terrible.” Bobby pointed my face as he retreated to the store room to do his job. Did he expect me to wake up at this hour the day after we celebrated his birthday till 3 in the morning the night before? Me and Bobby had been friends for almost 10 years now. Both of us were in the same dance studio and were put in the same group, we left the dance studio just when we had enough money to open our own. It was a small studio hidden at the basement and would only fit around 10 people.

Both of us ended up working at this shop that focused on to let the passerby to take a short break from driving. And that was mainly the reason why this shop was opened 24/7. Me and Bobby only happened to be given a shift from 5am till 12pm, which explained why me and Bobby were working at this hour.

I yawned and took a look at my face through my phone. It surely looked terrible. I went to the toilet and washed it to freshen myself. As I went back to the counter, a girl with a round spectacle and a hoodie was standing infront of the door. I saw her sighing, perhaps she had a rough morning?

She walked into the shop and went to the first shelves which was located infront of the counter that I was standing at. It was only 6 in the morning and she was already sighing, was she in some sort of bad situation? Should I cheer her up? Or should I just ignore it? But then, the suicide percentage in Korea are quite high— “Hi.” I blurted out. It took her a while before she turned around to face me but then without any respond, she turned to the shelves as she searched for the things she wanted to buy.

Good job Kim Hanbin, you just embarrassed yourself. I coughed, eyeing the person who was going around the shelves to take her stuff. Finally walking towards me, I mean towards the counter, “That would be 5,000won.” As what my boss told me, smile at the customer, so I smiled at her. She took out the cash and handed it to me. “Do you need plastic bag?” I asked, trying to talk to her but she just shook her head. Not smiling or anything, I bet her day must have been hard for her. I got even more curious about her that I didn’t realize I was tilting my head as I watched her taking the things. She looked up at me and I was quite taken aback by the eye contact. Gathering all of my confidence, I smiled at her and told her,

“Have a nice day!” And finally, she smiled at me and went out from the shop.

And I admit she’s prettier when smiling.
