SUNGKYU'S POV

“Hyung, this is the budget report for the next two months. Minho, gave it to me this morning and told me to give it to you since he was working under time today. I think his mom is in the hospital for having a high blood pressure” Dongwoo said and handed me a folder containing the budget for the next two months

“Really, did he mention how serious it was? He must be so worried. It’s a good thing he chose to work under time today” I said worriedly as I checked the folder and put it on the table.

“I just texted him a while ago and he said his mom is okay now, just needed to continue her maintenance or something. He actually ranted about his mom being stubborn and not taking her medicine regularly. I told him he should be patient with his mom since that’s what parents need” he said and I smiled.

Dongwoo’s one of the people I know who has a genuine heart and kind attitude. We’ve been friends for more or less three years and we immediately got close even when we just met. I was hired as the marketing communication manager when I first came to this company almost three years ago and he was the marketing consultant. Since we were both in the marketing department and we were hired at the same day, we got close pretty quick. Also he and Howon had been dating for nearly two years. They’ve known each other when I brought Dongwoo during one of our hangout nights and they obviously clicked.

“Oh yeah! I almost forgot Hyung, remember our new marketing manager who will come from London?” he asked

“Eung! What about him? The directors told me he’s from the Evolution Company in London which if I’m not mistaken is the newly subsidiary company of Top Seed, am I right?” I asked a bit unsure. I haven’t really given my full attention for the new coming employee since I have a lot of paper works to do. Just a few weeks ago I became the new marketing director which had a really great load of work, thank you very much.

“Yep! He is. I think you forgot about the most important detail though, he’ll be here on Monday to start observing and adapting with our work environment but he’ll officially work on Wednesday” he said smiling

“Oh ! I totally forgot about that. You said he’ll be here on Monday already? Then when will he arrive here in Korea? Did they fix where he’ll stay, he probably doesn’t have any place to stay” I said a bit worried. This is actually the first time that Top Seed will be hiring a foreigner since it has always believed in the talents of its own people. I don’t know why they changed their belief though.

I heard Dongwoo giggled and shook his head unbelievably. I showed him a ‘What-the--is-wrong’ look

“Hyung, were you really listening during our meeting last month? You know our company doesn’t hire impure blooded people to work in this company. The new marketing director is also a Korean and from what I heard, he originally lived here before so I don’t think it’ll be a problem. Also, he won’t be a temporary employee here but a permanent one it’s some sort of assurance I think. It’s not surprising though since Top Seed already owned more than half of the shares in Evolution so I guess that’s it” he added I nodded to him

“Anyway, you don’t have to worry about a single thing. I just told you since I didn’t want you to get shock when he arrives on Monday after all you’ll be the one to train him with all the things he needs to do since you’ve been a marketing manager for more or less two years” he added and I smiled at him mouthing him a ‘thank you’

“Well then, my work here is done. I got to go hyung. See you later” he said and walked out of my office. I smiled at Dongwoo’s funny behavior.

I continued my work. I needed to finish a report and then I had to check the budget for the next two months.

I glanced at my watch and saw that it was already 4:30 in the afternoon. I stretched out my arms and legs so the blood can finally circulate normally after I stayed with the same position for a few hours. I slowly fixed the papers on my table and gathered all the important papers I still need to finish in my bag and get my coat. My work starts at 7 am in the morning to 5 pm in the afternoon.

I walked out of my office and saw a few more employees working and greeted some of them who I know of. I went to Dongwoo’s office and saw him typing something on his laptop.

“Hey, you’re working overtime today?” I asked

“Hyung! Yeah I am. I need to submit a report tomorrow. I’m close to finishing it though so I don’t have to stay so late” he answered smiling

“Okay then, I’ll go ahead. I still need to drop off at my sister’s house” I said waving at him goodbye

“Say hi to Sunghyun for me” he said enthusiastically and I had to shake my head.

I walked to the elevator and saw Dujun standing in front of it. I smiled at him.

“You’re going home quite late today, Dujun” I said playfully he always go home at 3 pm going somewhere god knows where. We both got inside the elevator and he hit the B for the basement floor

“Yeah, I had to stay for a meeting with the higher ups for the next constructing project of the company. Anyway, I heard the new marketing manager will arrive on Monday. Everyone’s a bit busy with the preparation. Have you seen him?” he asked I shook my head.

“Nope, I haven’t seen him. I’ll see him on Monday like everyone else. I’ve been busy with a lot of things in the office” I said as we exited the elevator

“Well then, good luck with that. By the way, Junhyung is having a party in two weeks you should come. You can bring Sunghyun too, Moonbin misses him a lot” he said going to his car.
