‘Oppa, you in?’
‘Are you here?
Finally! Hurry!
I need to feed them,
and then the diapers,
everything’s a mess…
Where are you?’
‘Downstairs,
we’re coming up
with my niece
and nephew.’
‘Great,
4 toddlers today,
hope we won’t die.’
‘LOL,
you’re the one
who suggested this!
Who told you to
tell me bring my
niece and nephew
as well?’
‘Hurry,
my nephew is
crying like mad!’
--------------------------------------------
‘Hyeran,
you hungry?’
‘More like sleepy.
And why are you
texting me?
I’m like just sitting
next to you on
the couch.’
‘Don’t want to talk,
might wake them up.’
‘Too true,
let us enjoy this
silence for now,
not sure I can
handle it when
they wake up from
their afternoon nap.’
‘But don’t they
look lovely?
Our 4 little angels,
all sleeping on
the floor like
sausage rolls.’
‘They’re cute,
I don’t mind having
10 of them, as
long as they’re
asleep that is.’
‘You think Wangeun
and Soondeok would’ve
experienced this?
If they had lived?
Having 2 girls 2 boys
like what they wanted?
Trying to feed and wash
their kids, going through
the daily battle of putting
clothes on them and
tolerating their screaming
and crying?’
‘I think Wangeun
would regret right
after Soondeok gave
him his first child.
No doubt about that.’
‘What about you,
Hyeran ah?
Do you want to
start a family?’
‘Of course…
someday.
As will you,
Oppa.’
‘I don’t know…
I mean I love kids,
but I’ll still have
to think it through,
whether I want to
be a dad or not.’
‘Oh you’ll do fine,
Oppa,
you’re a genius
aren’t you?
You do well in
almost anything!
Aigoo,
have to let my
eyes rest for now
or I might collapse
later.’
‘If you’re tired,
you can sleep
on my bed.
I’ll watch the kids.’
‘Na, I’m fine.’
‘Or you prefer
sleeping on my lap?
Hm?’
‘You crazy?
Why would I
want to do that?’
‘I saw you looking
at my thighs~
Seriously,
give it a thought.
They’re comfortable,
I promise.’
‘I suppose someone
told you that,
otherwise how would
you have known?’
‘Oh come on.
Let’s not talk
about that now,
Hyeran.’
‘Do you always smirk
like this while
you’re texting me?’
‘Maybe?
I don’t text in
front of the mirror,
how should I know?’
‘You’ve been yawning
3 times in a minute
girl, you need to sleep.
Either on my lap
or in bed.
Pick one.’
‘Or what?
It’s not like you’re
gonna carry me in
and force me to sleep.’
---------------------------------------------
‘Oppa!
I can’t believe you
really did carry me
in here! You mad?
I almost screamed!
I could’ve woken
up the kids!’
‘Just sleep.
I’ll come and get
you when they
wake up.’
‘I feel bad laying
in here while you
have to watch
over them.’
‘It’s the least
I can do.
Go on,
doze off.’
‘Thank you,
Oppa.’
‘Sweet dreams.’
‘No dreams, hopefully,
I’m too tired to dream.’
---------------------------------------------
‘Where are you?’
‘Just dropped
the kids off,
I’m a free
woman now,
finally.
That’s enough
babysitting for
the entire year
I’d say.’
‘And you?’
‘My brother just
came to pick them
up, finally they’re gone.
Gonna make myself
a ramen.’
‘Have a bath too,
you deserve it,
Oppa.’
‘You too.
I mean,
today weren’t so bad.
At least all four of
them didn’t die,
you know.’
‘LOL,
yeah that’s true.
At a certain
point of today,
I just changed my
goal into not killing
anyone of them or
having to send them
to the hospital.
Glad they’re still
breathing by the
end of it.
It was close though,
when I was cooking
and they tried to
get into the kitchen.’
‘I literally had
to move them
one by one back
to the living room
from kitchen.’
‘I know, I saw,
it seems awfully tiring.’
‘And they found it fun!
They thought it was
a game and kept
crawling back
to the kitchen!
Madness!’
‘Glad you chose
to bring them
to your bedroom
in the end or you
would’ve died
of exhaustion.’
‘And their screams,
oh their screams!
I can still hear it
ringing in my head!
Your nephew and mine,
boy, they’re hitting
high notes even at
their age, just a bit of
vocal training and SM
will have them debut!’
‘Not bad,
you can be
their mentor.’
‘I can barely
handle myself,
I can’t be a mentor.’
‘Sure you can,
I know you can,
Oppa.
You taught me
how to sing
better yourself.’
‘That’s nothing,
just…you know,
sharing my experience,
that’s all.’
‘Being a mentor
is not as hard
as you think,
Oppa,
it’s simply being
yourself and sharing
what you’ve experienced
to others in order
to help them get
through things easier.’
‘To be honest,
I don’t want them
becoming an idol,
I don’t think I want
them to go through
what I’ve gone through
as one.’
‘Who?
Your niece and
nephew?’
‘Yeah…
and maybe…
my future kids.’
‘Why?
The pressure?’
‘Everything,
the whole package…
from public pressure
to numerous sleepless
nights, repeated training…
so on.’
‘What if your kids
say they want
to be like you?
What will you do?’
‘I mean,
I can’t stop
them obviously,
but I suppose I’ll
have to have serious
talks with them.’
‘Poor kids…’
‘What do you mean
“poor kids”?’
‘Well,
they’ll have to
listen to your
long lectures.’
‘If you’re my
wife then I suppose
I wouldn’t have to,
you’ll do that
job for me.’
‘I don’t have
anything against it
if my children
want to follow
that path,
I’ll support them
all the way through.’
‘You didn’t have
an easy time,
Hyeran,
still you won’t
try to stop them?’
‘If it’s their passion,
why not let them?
After all,
we only live once.’
‘True…’
‘Gosh.
Look at us,
just one day of
babysitting and
we’re already
turning into parents.’
‘You’ll make a
pretty good mum,
Hyeran,
I couldn’t have
done it without
you today.’
‘And you a
pretty nice dad,
Oppa,
my niece and
nephew love you.
They’re already
asking when they
can come over
and play with
you again.’
‘I’ll have to think
about that.
Not gonna babysit
for quite a long time
after today,
I promise you that.’
‘I’m going to
enjoy my bath now,
talk to you later Oppa.’
‘I should too.
Night.’
