Aberration 2
Shooting StarsDespite feeling guilty about Lisa’s disposition as of late, Jisoo feels a permeating calm in the past few days, after being able to let out her frustrations at Jennie, even for just a given moment. To her, Jennie being tangible was enough to believe in angels, a reassurance for someone like Jisoo – a solitary person. Having Jennie around to listen to her, from musings to complaints, knowing full well Jennie would always be listening and be present, gave her utmost inner peace.
Jisoo diverts her route, and instead of heading home, she walks to the park, to her favorite bench, the one towered over by two large trees in an embrace.
She sits on the concrete bench, legs crossed, and closes her eyes.
_____
The way Jisoo has been acting gives Jennie relief. If making her human happy meant being lashed out at, Jennie was alright with that. Humans needed ways to release their stress, and for Guardians like Jennie, strong and hurtful statements affected them in no way at all; Jennie was just a cushion, a punching bag emotionally, and being able to elicit release from Jisoo meant she was accomplishing her work.
You’re going to be alright. Jennie radiates her thoughts to Jisoo.
“Jennie?”
The Guardian stands alert at the mention of her name. Jisoo’s voice sounds like she’s the angel.
_____
“Jennie?”
Jisoo looks around, and above her, by the tree to her left, a flare of light appears. She smiles warmly, as if finding that all is right in the world.
_____
Jennie sometimes wishes she could also read minds, the way she can partly read body language. Because she wants to know what her human – with a beautiful soul – is thinking of at this very moment that has her so calm, so composed, like the stillest of oceans.
Under the dusky sky, Jisoo glowed more beautifully than ever. Jennie thinks about the way humans always talk about angels – how majestic they are, how glorious, and inspiring; drawn on murals, turned into monuments and statues, given honor, and made into charms. The obsession humans had on angels was bewildering. Litt
