Make It Better
Shooting StarsThe first thing Jisoo sees in her waking hour the next day is the disarray of books on her bedside table. She’s been multi-tasking three volumes, one of them being a repeat of The Little Prince.
The Rose was needy and vain but The Little Prince still took care of her. Only when he had to leave the planet did the Rose realize that she loved and appreciated him.
Jisoo thought about what happened between The Little Prince and the Rose. Was she really entitled — like Lisa said? What if that someone was taking care of her right this very moment, but in her selfishness and expectation, she couldn't see that?
Was she becoming like the Rose? What did she have to do now, so her Little Prince - or whoever it was taking care of her - would not leave?
Jisoo jumps out of bed to shake off the serious thoughts weighing her down so early in the morning.

“So, you know how people wish on inanimate objects, or occurrences – out of desperation?”
“Yeah, I’m familiar. What’s going on?” Lisa was getting worried about Jisoo’s obsession for the ethereal and supernatural.
“I’ve decided to wish on whatever’s available, and see if that works instead of believing in an immaterial being.”
“Dandelions, wishbones, four leaf clovers, shooting stars, 11:11? Which ones?”
Jisoo contemplated on the set of choices. “Shooting stars are my first pick,” she says, confident.
“Easy to say. Tricky bit is actually catching one streak through the sky.”
“Camp out with me when you get off your shift. My yard has a porch, I’ll have some cold beer set out.”
“I’m down, I’m totally down. But Jisoo…sorry to rain on your parade – what if doesn’t work?” Lisa’s bluntness seems to have awakened Jisoo from her ideals.
“We’ll try again tomorrow.”

8:09PM.
Lisa and Jisoo wait for any semblance of a shooting star streaking through the clear, navy sky. A drink in her hand, heart on her sleeve – Jisoo feels hopeful for tonight.
