Crying At The Moon

"There are nights when the wolves are silent, and only the moon howls."

Wheein didn't want to assume that its a date.

She didn't want to think- to hope that it is indeed a date.

But she dressed up nicely, just in case.

She fixed her hair neatly, hoping that Byul would appreciate it- that Byul would at least notice her effort to look good.

But it wasn't a date.

She needs to remind herself all day.

Because Moonbyul is in love with Kim Yongsun.

And she's Jung Wheein.

She could never compare.

But having said all that, it was still hard for Wheein not to hope, because Moonbyul is walking towards her with the brightest smile plastered on her face, with her eyes fixated on her, as if Wheein's the only person that mattered in the room.

To be fair, she was indeed the only person Byul knows in that secluded restaurant.

"You should've told me you'd look this beautiful tonight." Moonbyul notes as she reached their table. "I look like your servant or something; I feel underdressed." Byul comments, seeing how stunning her friend looked.

Wheein took it as a compliment even though it only shows that this night isn't as special as she made it out to be.

The younger one couldn't suppress her frown, as Byul casually took her seat.

"Did I say something wrong?" Byul asks, noticing the glum mood that Wheein suddenly emits.

Wheein shakes her head, "It's just that...you still look prettier than me, despite your simple look." she reasons, she was half-lying, but she hopes it was good enough as she puts on a fake smile.

Byul groans, "You're such a liar." she said accusingly.

Wheein was about to explain herself when Byul continued, "You're the prettiest girl in this restaurant, Wheein-ah."

Moonbyul said it in such a sincere tone that Wheein questions herself if anyone could blame her for hoping that her feelings could be returned. Byul's eyes were fixated on her, scanning every detail of her face; Wheein couldn't hide the blush that crept on her cheeks. "Unnie, stop." Wheein says, even though she didn't really want Byul to stop, but she was growing conscious under Byul's stare.

"Sorry." Byul says, a little flustered. She didn't mean to stare. But she can't help it. Wheein looked extra beautiful, and her eyes seemed like they were being pulled by her beauty.

Byul raises her hand for the waiter to see, not bothering to scan the menu, she thinks she needed a distraction.

Wheein, on the other hand, has her eyes fixated on the menu.

"Do you see something you like?" Byul asks Wheein, calling for her attention, just in time, before the waiter reached their table.

"Hi. What's your best seller?" Byul asked.

Their conversation was a blur to Wheein as she stares at Byul, she sighs at how clueless Byul is. "I'm staring at her right now." Wheein thinks, answering Byul's previous question.

"Wheein?" she hears Byul, snapping her fingers to catch her attention.

"I'll have what she's having." Wheein said to the waiter with a kind smile; she couldn't care less about the food, as she was more focused on her company at hand.

When the waiter left their table Wheein asked, "So...Unnie...why did you ask me out to dinner?"

Byul couldn't explain why she's suddenly nervous, maybe it's the underlying tone in Wheein's question, or maybe it was simply because she wasn't actually prepared to tell Wheein yet, "What's the rush, Wheein-ah? The night's still young. I'll tell you after we eat, okay?" she stalled.

Yongsun's voice rang at the back of Byul's mind, "I don't know if I'm ready for that."

It's clear that Yongsun's not ready to make their relationship public, and she respects that. But she waited for a long time to hear Yongsun say she loves her back. She doesn't think it's possible for her to keep it all in.

Maybe telling just one friend won't be so bad.

Besides, it's Wheein.

And Moonbyul trusts Wheein with all her heart. She doesn't think it would cause a problem at all.

Their dinner was pretty uneventful; it consisted of small talks and little conversations that they usually talk about. But of course, despite that, it's definitely unfo

Chapter 17: It's so heart breaking to read this chapter. 🥺 I pity the 3 of them; Yongsun for letting go of Byul because evwn if there's still love between them, she know that if they continue what they have from now, she knew that Moonbyul will give her all until there was nothing left for herself and she feels that she will take away some of Byul freedom. Byul on the other hand just want to show the world how much she loves her significant other but can't do it because the other one is not ready. Wheein's heart is breaking into pieces for she sees how her friends are falling part and even saw how the love of her life is also breaking. Its hard. The dilemna is really hard for them and I am curious what will happen next. As much as I am reading this fic, I wanna know how they will deal with it in the future. I hope they will be not disbanded.

Chapter 16: Noooo, my favorite couple. But I think it's only fair for them to have a space for a while. Yong having the courage to speak up her honest views is a big step for her and there's no point in denying whatever Byul is feeling towards someone else. If they want to be on a relationship again, they need to fix themselves first for them to be together again. I hope they can fix their own issues.
