Wolf's Cry
Crying At The Moon[πΊ] [π]
"Why would you even think that? Its not like I like you in that way."
"Yeah." Moonbyul forced a smile. "Why did I think that? How silly of me."
"Like I said, I'm just tired, Byul."
"I should let you rest then."
"Aren't you going to rest too?"
"I'm not tired yet."
There she was; sitting on their sofa with a coffee in hand. Wheein wonders how she could sit there and look so beautiful without doing anything. "Unnie."
"Wheein-ah" Moonbyul acknowledged, surprised that Wheein is still awake considering how tired she looked earlier that day. "I thought you guys were asleep."
"Hyejin is. I would really love to sleep too but I don't think sleep loves me as much." Wheein replied with a small chuckle.
Moonbyul tapped the space beside her as she laughs; silently asking Wheein to sit beside her.
The younger singer gladly complied.
Moonbyul wonders why the aura around them felt different; like the silence that settled between them that moment was heavy; like there were words floating in the air that remained unspoken.
"Did you have a fight with unnie?" Wheein asked knowingly, Moonbyul is only ever this silent when something's wrong with her and Solar.
"No." Moonbyul lied. "We have no reason to fight." Moonbyul meant it. There's no reason to fight; no reason to fight with Solar and no reason to fight for her; not when she's the only one feeling things.
"Just a guess." Wheein shrugged. "She was pretty quiet on our ride home." She observed.
"You were pretty quiet too." Moonbyul noted, which surprised Wheein. She didn't expect Byul to notice considering the amount of attention she was giving to Solar.
Somehow she felt pathetic being comforted by something as simple as that information.
"I'm just tired." Wheein reasoned.
"That's what Yongsun told me too." Moonbyul stated taking a sip at her coffee before putting it down.
"You sound like you don't believe her." Wheein remarked. She didn't know if she should be pushing Moonbyul to open up to her. She didn't know if she is ready to have this conversation with her.
"I do. I just..." Byul shakes her head as if she is shaking off ridiculous thoughts. "Nothing. It's nothing."
Wheein pouts. "Don't leave me hanging. Come on, tell me." The younger one said, using her aegyo on her unnie.
Moonbyul couldn't help but smile at how adorable Wheein looked.
And Wheein couldn't hide the satisfaction in her grin when she saw Moonbyul smile so sincerely.
"If I knew my pout would make you smile I would've done it much earlier." Wheein stated, playing it off as a joke, but in reality, she was being serious.
"If you want me to smile you could've just smiled at me; those dimples are really doing you a lot of good." Moonbyul said sweetly.
"Wa- you're being greasy again." Wheein complained, but couldn't hide her smile.
"You love it." Moonbyul teased.
I do. Wheein almost says out loud. "Oh, Unnie." She sighed instead.
And just like that they fell into conversations that distracted them from the pain that both of them felt: the pain of loving someone who can't love you back.
In the middle of their conversation, they both decided to take a walk outside. Somehow they ended up talking about their fans' given nicknames to them.
"If you're the moon, and Solar unnie is the sun, and Hwasa is the lion, why can't I be the wolf?" Wheein asked, they were currently talking about what their fans refer to them as.
"Because you're such a puppy." Moonbyul noted.
"That's not even fair. You all get to be cool..." the younger and trailed off.
"And you get to be cute." Byul pointed out. "That's what I like about you." She added, unaware of the impact it had on the younger girl.
Wheein felt like the air was knocked off her lungs.
She knows it's not meant in the way she wanted it to mean, but she'll take it. She'll take whatever she can take.
"Or you can be a wolf puppy, if you want." Moonbyul beamed a smile at her. "You're both cute and cool."
She smiled at the personification.
A wolf puppy.
A wolf
