Undercover Boss

Description

What happens when Korea's youngest CEO goes undercover in her own company?

Foreword

An elegant woman is seen walking down the spotless white marble floor way, with her heels echoing throughout the place, gaining attention from everyone nearby. Wearing her Dolce and Gabbana white floral romper, with her white Jimmy Choo heels, and wearing the classic brown Louis Vuitton sunglasses, this girl was surely made as a princess.

Jessica Jung was the CEO and Chairman of Jung Corporation. The prestigious family ran company peaked #1 from the top 10 most successful companies in South Korea. Jessica Jung was merely 23 years old, had shoulder length blonde hair, delicate milky white skin, lips that were a gentle pink, and hazel eyes that could either pierce or melt your soul in a matter of seconds.  She was the Ice Princess of the business world.

A reason why Jessica Jung was the youngest and most successful CEO in South Korea and top dog of the business industry was because of her striking personality, the strong leadership skills she conceded, the independence, the intelligence, and the intellect of business itself; in short Jessica Jung was born to be #1.

--

It was in the midst of Spring, a meeting had been held with the board of directors. On the 9th floor of Jung Corp’s 22 story building, within room 22, the marble white room which overlooks Seoul in midday afternoon; Jessica Jung could and will always be seen in the middle of the large agarwood island table with her neatly polished podium to her left. Jessica was sitting elegantly with her flawless posture while swiftly flipping through her paperwork.

Jessica cleared gently, while walking to her podium she managed to earn all of the directors’ attention in a matter of seconds.  She began to talk with her gentle angelic voice where she went over the new marketing strategies and plans. The directors were at awe.

2012 had arrived and Jung Corp was ready to conquer more than just Asia; being #2 in all of Asia, and #9 worldwide, Jessica Jung clearly was not satisfied.

“I think there’s a problem with our employees” Jessica said sternly while putting on her black framed glasses.

“What do you mean, Miss Jung?” asked Director Kim

“What I mean is that beside us, the employees run our company, and there’s a flaw, somewhere.” Jessica replied while looking at the directors.

“What flaw?” Asked Director Kang

“That I cannot figure out yet” Jessica says while taking off her glasses and placing them on the space before her.

While folding her hands together and taking a deep breath, Jessica stopped leaning over her podium but stood up straightly.

“For the next 2 weeks, I, Jessica Jung will be stepping down as CEO and Chairman of Jung Corporation to go undercover as an employer who will undergo a variety of jobs in one of the stores under our management of Jung Corp”, Jessica said while walking back to her seat and sitting back down, earning shocked gasps from almost all of everyone who was occupied in the room.

“And this information is strictly confidential.” Jessica said strictly

“ But Miss Jung, how is this going to help the company?” Director Seo asked

“I’ll be able to see what the employees below us go through, their procedures, what our store managers are doing wrong, something is wrong, and something is affecting our business.” Jessica said

The board all nodded their heads in agreement. What Jessica had said was clearly correct. Their income has recently dropped from a mere 13% over the past few months and customer complaints had been more consistent.

It was a busy Thursday afternoon, the rush hour of college students and high school students from all over Seoul came rushing into MyJ, a prestigious and sophisticated apparel store. This apparel style was the ‘fad’ of 2012. The fashion line consisted of a preppy and hype line which was unique and classy. The original trademark of MyJ neatly written in perfect penmanship is seen neatly sewed either on the top right corner or the bottom right corner on every piece of clothing made by MyJ.

A girl with dark brown hair is seen running around the store, rushing back and forth from the dressing rooms to the storage room trying to help each and every customer. This girl is Tiffany Hwang. Tiffany Hwang is 23 years old, who graduated college, with major debts for a student. She moved from America when she was merely 15 years old not knowing a single word in Korean. She’s currently living alone in a tiny apartment west of Seoul.

You may ask, why is a girl like Tiffany Hwang working in an apparel store, simply because she needs money, to pay off her rent, debt, and to make somewhat of a living.

This MyJ store is currently the #9 MyJ store in Seoul Korea located in downtown Seoul, the busiest place in the city. From shopping to eating to lounging to just sightseeing, visiting downtown Seoul was a must.

You could compare MyJ to the Abercrombie and Fitch of South Korea, everyone wanted it, anyone could have it, but only a few could wear it. MyJ’s prices were ridiculously high, but the quality of each and every material of the clothes was the best of the best, so what else could you expect?

--

Tiffany Hwang was becoming exhausted from running back and forth, trying to help each and every customer while the other employees just stood around trying to look ‘pretty’ or ‘hot’. Tiffany was indeed drop dead gorgeous, but she didn’t want to be what most people labeled the MyJ workers as; ‘ dumb, pretty and lazy’. The general manager of the store known as Park Gyuri is seen behind the counter, looking at her nails and constantly checking herself out with the mirror in front of her. Tiffany had to admit, she was probably THE worst boss anyone could ask for, but heck what can she do? She’s the one who offered Tiffany the job anyways and being desperate she accepted.

Gyuri was not only lazy; she was also rude, rude to the customers and her coworkers with her ridiculous attitude.  She would always make Tiffany do the dirty work, even when the latter was busy. She never asked the other workers to do work besides Tiffany; she basically treated Tiffany like a slave. Gyuri made the poor girl clean the bathrooms, fold and price the clothes in the back, put clothes up for display, be a floor model, clean the store after hours, import the shipment from the trucks into the stock room, Gyuri basically made Tiffany do EVERY single job possible there was to do for MyJ, and the poor girl never even got a raise she’s still stuck at minimum wage.

Gyuri also constantly put Tiffany down, calling her names, making of how she looked, threatened her. She basically in short treated Tiffany like trash. Tiffany being the kind-warm hearted girl took every verbal abuse she got from Gyuri and her coworkers.  The abuse hurt Tiffany deeply at first, but over time she was used to being called ‘Stupid’, ‘Fat’, ‘Ugly’ , ‘Useless’, and ‘snob’ so she just shrugged it off.

It was finally closing time for MyJ at exactly 8:30 PM, Gyuri called in everyone for a short meeting in the back, meeting room.

“Tomorrow we’ll be having a new coworker, she was sent here by HQ. So I expect everyone to ‘act’ nice to her the first few days’ Gyuri said

Everyone nodded, and Gyuri sent everyone home except for Tiffany. Who she made clean up the store, and lock up. Tiffany stayed an extra 2 hours cleaning, and organizing the store for tomorrow. She was sleep deprived and could not wait to go home. She hated this job, no, in fact she HATED the people who were her so called ‘coworkers’. Tiffany was too nice to ever speak up to anyone; she kept mum when people constantly used her to do their work for them.

--

But what Tiffany doesn’t know that starting tomorrow; everything about her life will change because of a certain someone.

Chapter 10: There is no worse feeling than finding a good story too late (which is the case here, sadly) I really enjoyed it so far and I’ve always loved these kinds of classic plots, the last chapter did seem like a time skip or some sort? Idk but I couldn’t stop reading as I began and I’m sure you might not get back to this, but hey, we can hope? Lol either way I loved the chapters so far and think you’ve done a well job with Jeti! Thanks for writing this^^
